Ducks Eye Return to NCAA Championships
Having missed the NCAA Championship last year by just two strokes, the Oregon men’s golf team looks to redeem itself. The Ducks took 8th last year at the NCAA Regionals in Tallahassee, Fla. The Ducks return everyone from last year’s regional tournament roster and have added a highly-touted freshman in Thomas Lim. Martin also added Brandon Baumgarten and Luke Park to the mix this year to a relatively young team. Lim, a Moorpark, Calif., comes to Oregon as an American Junior Golf Association All-American with experiences in the Toyota Tour Cup series while carding a 69 at the Oregon Amateur Championships. He was also a member of the 43rd Annual Hogan Cup that took third. Baumgarten, a Granite, Calif., native led Granite Bay High School to a California Interscholastic Federation State Tournament Championship in 2012. The freshman also qualified for the US Amateur National Championships. Park hails Fullerton, Calif., where he led Foothill High School to a runner-up finish at the CIF State Championships his senior year. On top of having played at multiple AJGA tournaments, Park won the AJGA Junior Challenge at the Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. On top of the annual Duck Invitational, Oregon has been selected to host one of six regional sites for the 2014 NCAA Division I Golf Regionals. Beautiful Eugene Country Club will be the site of the regional tournament, May 15-17, while the Duck Invitational will be played at Emerald Valley Golf Course, March 24-25.
