A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR I want to start off by saying, I'm overwhelmed by the amount of support and love ORENDA Magazine has gotten over the past couple of months. Since COVID-19 started, I wanted to find a new way of giving creatives a new platform to display their talents and inspired by LUCY'S and so many other digital magazines, I decided to start one. In these past couple months, I've gotten to meet some incredibly talented creatives and so many of them have such incredible work. We got a total of a little over 250 submissions, even after we closed our submissions. This volume of ORENDA Magazine is themed "MERAKI" which means to put some of yourself in your work. We asked creatives to send us a collection of their work for us to publish that best represented them and their work. I'm excited for the future of ORENDA Magazine, and I hope those reading this enjoy the talent of the 90+ creatives incorporated in this volume.

NMH "I make rap music but it’s more like soft or lofi really, nothing real hype or anything, just chill stuff. I got into music because I had just met someone named Edward Morfin and he said he could produce and mix music for me, and I had never thought about music seriously prior, so I said why not and started with him. You can find my music on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Amazon Music, etc."

"My Creative Journey" Danny Martin @martdann
To be a creative is to be forever critical of the work you put out into the world perfection is an archetypal characteristic of artists everywhere
. ,
. ?
seeing the light of day than anything else
But why does that exist
perfection in my head is not self
but there to please other people
-
serving
.
That pressure to put out
It has kept more pieces of art from never In my personal journey
.
,
that narrator of
It was conditioned by society to
create for other people to get the most praise possible and avoid judgment at all costs
.
This perfection mindset
is based upon the fear of judgment from other people and leads us astray from why we started in the first place
...
for the love of expression
.
I used to base my success on the number of likes my work would receive
led to burnout and losing interest in the craft love of process is a broken system
,
.
.
You see I set out in
2020
straight from those times
.
,
.
The reason I was able to figure this out
with a goal in mind
,
,
.
and that led to deep depression
Photography was meditative for me in times of stress
and the art I would produce was purely out of passion
.
.
,
to learn how to tell my
to being forced to drop out of college because of an autoimmune disease
able to go into nature and capture the beauty of life surrounding us
,
and it
,
.
.
,
For
I went
and battled
I have been able to heal myself of most mental and physical wounds through holistic means
out of that darkness rose my creativity
instantly
,
The last decade of my life was filled with ridiculous adversity and so many hardships
years I was crippled with anxiety to the point of extreme isolation
that for years
’
I realized that creating for other people s praise and not for the
and perfection is an indicator of that
is because I had a realization from my past story to the world
.
,
and
because I was
It started so organically and I fell in love
As my journey continued I would hit walls
because my motives would change into that perfection mindset I described where I would value likes over everything
.
The
2020
goal has given me the awareness I needed to get back to my roots and reminded me why I
started taking photos in the first place as a weakness
,
.
Telling my story has not been easy because vulnerability can be looked at
but it gave me a reason to share the content I wanted to stay hidden forever
. ,
content has sparked a new passion inside where my success is based solely on expression performance
.
And now that and not on
My current project is a documentary film about redemption and rising from adversity
complete that goal I set out at the beginning of the year go against the grain
,
.
' ,
and get back to the roots of creating without regard to others opinions
disappears when you create out of pure love for your work based in love
,
,
and it will
My hope is to inspire people to live life on their terms
,
and pure love for yourself
it is already perfect
.
.

Perfection
because if anything is

I believe that colors have a huge impact on others, and I feel it’s not used enough within street fashion. My goal has been to use my own art designs in a colorful way. I see the most dull clothing lines everywhere and don’t see why the never thought of it as dull in the first place. Vibrancy tells people a story as well as I do. Black and white is OVERRATED! Redbubble has been my favorite place to upload fine designs to the public and have been shipping orders all over the United States, and many other countries including the UK. I create clothes, art pieces, accessories, you name it I got it. I never thought this would be a second job for me, especially a job that I love. Something about creating artwork yourself and seeing others truly happy with it is a feeling like no other
M00dydesigns By: Bethany Moody @M00dydesigns
ABOUT: m00dydesigns is an embroidery business. I make custom made t-shirts, jumpers, hoodies and face masks. The audience for the business is anyone who loves to get creative. I am able to bring peoples designs to life and allow them to showcase their designs on material. In contrast, I create my own designs which I believe reach a range of audiences. Such as a One Direction collection WHY?: During lockdown I gained the skill of embroidering. I bought a pack of needles and some coloured thread and started my first project on a pair of jeans. This then made me realise the passion I have for embroidering and I knew I wanted to carry it on. Three months later, I have invested in an embroidery machine, in regular contact with wholesalers and have an instagram that is growing everyday. WHERE?: I have an Etsy page ‘m00dydesignsShop’, however most of my orders are made through instagram.

The focus of my business is to create unique pieces of jewellery, primarily with flowers encased in resin. All the flowers used are washed, dried and pressed by me. Every piece is thought-out and carefully made over 48 hours to ensure texture and optimum appearance. All packaging is recyclable, and I get all my resources from UK- based businesses to support our economy. I’ve always being inspired by art and creativity. I’m an engineering student, so my life is mainly maths and physics. I don’t get to express my passion for design often. This is the biggest motivation for me to start this business. I get to put art and design and my passion for flowers together into beautiful pieces of jewellery that I can be proud of. People can shop through my Depop shop (@blossometbloom) I have new additions every week!
