H.E. GABRIEL OBIANG LIMA Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, Equatorial Guinea
H.E. Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima is the Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea. Presiding over the third largest oil-producing market in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Minister is widely regarded for his incisive leadership and for his guidance of Equatorial Guinea’s energy industry through a period of growth and renewal. Under His Excellency’s leadership, Equatorial Guinea’s oil and gas sector has embraced innovation and international investment, making progress on a landmark regional oil and gas storage facility, CNG-based public transport, a successful 2016-2017 bidding round and Africa’s first deepwater floating LNG, the Fortuna FLNG project. In 2017 the Government of Equatorial Guinea signed cooperation agreements with Ghana, Burkina Faso, South Sudan and Uganda to share expertise and establish greater intra-African oil and gas trade. The agreements are a demonstration of the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons’ objective to make Equatorial Guinea a center of excellence for the oil and gas industry in Africa. Working in the oil and gas industry since 1997, His Excellency’s past positions include Minister Delegate, Vice Minister, Secretary of State for Mines and Hydrocarbons, Government Representative in the Equity of the State in PSCs, and Presidential Adviser on Hydrocarbons. He has served as a member of the board of three public energy companies: SONAGAS, SEGESA and GEPetrol.

ALIKO DANGOTE GCON Chairman, Dangote Group
Alhaji Aliko Dangote GCON (born 10 April 1957) is a Nigerian business magnate, investor, and owner of the Dangote Group, which has interests in commodities in Nigeria and other African countries. Dangote was educated at the Sheikh Ali Kumasi Madrasa as well as the Capital High School in Kano state, Nigeria. He has a bachelor's degree in business studies and administration from AlAzhar University, Cairo. The Dangote Group was established as a small trading ďŹ rm in 1977, the same year Dangote relocated to Lagos to expand the company. Today, it is a multi-trillion-naira conglomerate with many of its operations in Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo. Dangote has expanded to cover food processing, cement manufacturing, and freight. The Dangote Group also dominates the sugar market in Nigeria and is a major supplier to the country's soft drink companies, breweries, and confectioners. The Dangote Group has moved from being a trading company to be the largest industrial group in Nigeria including Dangote Sugar ReďŹ nery, Dangote Cement, and Dangote Flour. The company employs more than 11,000 people and is the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa. In November 2011, Dangote was awarded Nigeria's second-highest honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) by the former President, Goodluck Jonathan.

DR. AKINWUMI ADESINA President, African Development Bank
Akinwumi "Akin" Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (2015 – till date). Adesina was born to a Nigerian farmer in Ibadan, Oyo State. He attended the University of Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University) for his bachelor’s degree and graduated with a First Class Honors in Agricultural Economics in 1981. He proceeded to Purdue University in Indiana, USA where he obtained his PhD (Agricultural Economics) in 1988. Adesina served as a senior economist at West African Rice Development Association (WARDA) in Bouaké, Ivory Coast from 1990 to 1995. He was representative for Southern Africa, Rockefeller Foundation from 1999 to 2003. He was also the Associate director for food security, Rockefeller Foundation from 2003 to 2008. In 2010, he was appointed the Minister of Agriculture, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by former President Goodluck Jonathan, a position he held till 2015. In 2015, Adesina became the 8th President of the African Development Bank. In 2017, he won the World Food Prize.

BENEDICT PETERS Executive Vice Chairman, Aiteo Group
Benedict Peters is the founder the Aiteo Group, which has interests’ primarily in energy and is the largest indigenous oil producing firm in Nigeria by output. Peters hails from Onicha Oloma in Delta state and was born in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State to a banker and a homemaker. He attended Ekulu Primary School, Enugu; and Federal Government College Enugu, after which he proceeded to University of Benin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Hons degree in Geography and Town Planning. Peters began his career in the oil and gas industry in the early 1990s, working with the founders of Ocean and Oil, the entity now known as Oando Nigeria Plc,. He moved to MRS Oil Nigeria PLC as Group Executive Director, ending as its Managing Director, before leaving in 1999 to establish Sigmund Communecci. In February 2008, Peters founded the Aiteo group (Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company Limited), the successor entity to Sigmund Communecci. The company owns one of the largest petroleum tank farms in Nigeria with facilities in excess of over 250 million litres on over 100,000 square meters of landmass. It also owns and operates the Abonnema Storage Terminal. In 2014, Aiteo acquired a controlling stake in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 29 and the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) in the Eastern Niger Delta from Royal Dutch Shell Plc. In April 2017, Aiteo Group announced the signing of a five-year partnership agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation worth an estimated N2.9b.

DR. AMY JADESIMI Managing Director/CEO, LADOL
Dr Amy Jadesimi is the Managing Director and CEO of LADOL, the sustainable industrial special economic zone in Lagos, Nigeria. Amy is a member of the Prince’s Trust International global advisory board; a founding commissioner of the Business and Sustainable Development Commission; and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Maritime Forum. She is also a Forbes contributor. Amy holds an MBA from Stanford University, as well as a BA and BMBCh from the University of Oxford. Amy worked at Goldman Sachs in London, before returning to Nigeria to join LADOL’s management team. Amy was named Young CEO of the Year at the Africa CEO Forum as well as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

MR KOLA KARIM Chairman, Shoreline Energy International, Lagos, Nigeria
Kola Karim is the Group Managing Director/CEO of Shoreline Energy International (Shoreline) , a leading industrial group focused on energy and power investments in Sub Saharan Africa. Mr. Karim has built shoreline over the past 20 years into a leading integrated energy company with operating assets in the upstream, midstream and downstream business. Mr Karim balances his business interests with a passion for contributing to development and education across the continent. He has championed a pan African agenda at the Harvard Centre for African Studies where he sits on the advisory board with a speciďŹ c focus on building a Pan African resource centre with an initial center already launched in South Africa. Mr Karim Serves on the Africa Advisory board of the London Stock Exchange and is a Young Global Leader Award Honoree (2008), a pioneer and an active member of the Global Agenda Council on Emerging Multinationals of the World Economic Forum. He has delivered opinion and position papers at international conferences, investment forums, business schools and universities. Mr Karim holds an LLM Masters of Laws – International business law.

ADEWALE TINUBU Group CEO, Oando PLC
Wale Tinubu is the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, Africa’s leading indigenous energy solutions provider listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and the first African company with a cross-border inward listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Widely recognized for his successful transformation of Oando from a petroleum marketing company to an integrated energy group, Wale led the company’s landmark $1.5 billion acquisition of ConocoPhillips, Nigeria. In 2016, Wale oversaw the largest capital inflow (~USD 300 million) into the Nigerian oil and gas sector via partnerships in its Downstream and Midstream businesses with Vitol, the largest energy trader and Helios, Africa’s largest private equity firm. This was achieved against the backdrop of the largest depression in the sector in 10 years and a recession in Nigeria. In recognition of his valuable contributions to the development of the African oil and gas industry, Wale was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ West Africa by Ernst & Young and inducted into the firm’s World Entrepreneur of the Year Academy. He has also been lauded as the ‘African Business Leader of the Year’ by Africa Investor in recognition of his numerous achievements.

SENATOR DAISY DANJUMA Executive Vice Chairman, SAPETRO
Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma is a law graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with over 35 years of post-call experience. She began her career as a State Counsel in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice (Department of Public Prosecutions) and was a pioneer Legal Counsel to the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria before working for the investment bank Nigerian Acceptances Ltd. (NAL). She spent the next decade as Company Secretary/Legal Adviser to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) before moving into private practice. She is a former Chairman of SAPETRO (1999-2003). In 2003 she was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where she served on numerous committees, most notably as Chairman of the ECOWAS Parliament’s Women and Children’s Rights Committee and Senate Committee Chairman on Women Affairs and Youth Development. Senator Danjuma is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA).

AUSTIN AVURU CEO, Seplat Petroleum Development Co. Plc
Austin Avuru is a key player in the Nigerian oil and gas industry. He started his career with NNPC in 1980, holding several positions including wellsite geologist, production seismologist and reservoir engineer during his twelve years in the company. He left the NNPC in 1992 to become a technical manager/Deputy Chief Operating Officer of a start-up business, Allied Energy Resources in Nigeria, a pioneer deepwater operator. This step triggered his entrepreneurship skills and helped to launch a growing business empire. Buoyed by his huge appetite for value creation, in 2002 Austin assembled an array of industry professionals to form Platform Petroleum Limited and consequently, held the role of managing director. In response to the divestment programme by IOCs, Austin’s team at Platform worked with Shebah Exploration and Production Company to form SEPLAT in 2009. Subsequently, SEPLAT acquired a 45% interest in three oil blocks from Shell Nigeria, Total and Agip. Under his leadership, the company has grown from a little known minnow producing 18kbd in 2010 to a major Nigerian Independent dually listed on the Lagos and London Exchanges with operated production of over 70kbd crude oil and 280mmscfd of gas. A geologist/Petroleum Engineer by training and an alumnus of OPM 41 at the Harvard Business School, Austin is an accomplished industry writer and a resource professional for major national and international conferences. Co-Author of “Nigerian Petroleum Business, A Handbook” and author of “Politics, Economics & the Nigerian Petroleum Industry”, he won the 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Master Category for Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

UMANA OKON UMANA Managing Director/CEO, OGFZA
UMANA OKON UMANA: Umana is the Managing Director/CEO of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA). He is a former secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government; former commissioner for ďŹ nance in the state and former permanent secretary in charge of budget in the state. Umana earned a degree in Economics from the University of Calabar and an MBA in Finance from the University of Port Harcourt. He honed up his leadership capacity many years ago with executive leadership training at the London Business School; RIPA International, London and the Columbia Graduate School of Business in New York. Umana was chairman of the Steering Committee of the Akwa Ibom State/World Bank Community-based Urban Development Project. He also served as chairman of the State Programme Co-ordinating Committee (SPCC) of the UNDP from 1997 – 2003. He is a member Nigerian Economic Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

HADIZA BALA USMAN MD/CEO Ports Authority
Hadiza Bala Usman, became the first woman to head the Nigerian Ports Authority when she was appointed Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2016. Before then, she served as Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, again as the first woman to hold that position in the Northern Nigeria. She has taken roles across the government and non-governmental sectors starting with the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE). She was hired by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as Special Assistant on Project Implementation to the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory Administration [FCTA] from October 2004 - January 2008 after which she worked as Director of Strategy of Good Governance Group. In response to the abduction of the 219 young girls by from Chibok Secondary School in Borno State by Boko Haram in 2014, she co-founded the global movement #BringBackOurGirls. She is a member of the Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, (PACAC). Ms Bala Usman was one of Financial Times’ most influential women in 2014, the CNN most inspiring women of 2014, Ebony Magazine’s 100 most influential black women in the world in 2014, BUSINESSDAY Excellence in Public Service Award from, 2017 and DAAR Communications Outstanding Leadership in Public Sector Transparency and Open Budget System Award, 2017. Bala Usman is Vice President (African Region) for the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) and member of the 2018 Class of Most Influential People of African Descent.

JERREH BARROW Commissioner for Petroleum
Mr. Barrow holds a Bachelor's Degree in Geology from University of Ghana, Legon 2004 and a Master's Degree in Applied Geophysics from Chiang Mai University, Thailand 2008. From 2008 to 2015 Mr. Barrow has held numerous positions at the Geological Department of The Gambia, with the last at the Department being the Deputy Director. During his time at the Department he was instrumental in the regularizing and formalizing the quarrying sector and instituting regulations for a number of regulations for Minerals. He was also the focal person for a sub-regional ‘Continental Shelf project’ whose successful implementation he oversaw. Mr. Barrow is now the Commissioner for Petroleum, a position he held since December, 2015. Since taking up this position he has been deeply involved in the review of the Model Petroleum license and is playing a leading role in the licensing of open blocks.
