Meet the Head Master Andrew Noakes

Brighton College is a rapidly-growing school which prides itself on knowing each pupil really well; ensured by our class sizes, and teacher to pupil ratios. Ask a pupil the best thing about Brighton College (Singapore), and she or he will likely recount science experiments with rockets, virtual reality journeys through the heart in Science, becoming a scavenger or astronaut in English or a superhero in French lessons.

Our pupils are curious; they enjoy discovering and they feel confident and resilient enough to try and to learn from their attempts, whether successful or not. Our atmosphere and culture would likely set us apart also; the College is a truly purposeful and friendly school We unashamedly aim for pupils to achieve excellent academic results so they might be best-placed to gain entrance to top schools and universities around the world.

A personal school, our pupils, teachers and families support and look after each other, working together to make a positive difference to a child and society, now and for the future It is so important to us that children have the best possible education and childhood; reasons why we have an accelerated curriculum and an exciting co-curricular programme. From 18-months to 13-years of age (soon to be 18-years of age subject to meeting all necessary approvals), it is our privilege to offer a Brighton Future to our pupils and their families.

Parent Testimonials

Prep Parent (Year 2 & 4)

Brighton College is a great school because the fantastic teaching and support team care about each individual child and their holistic development We chose Brighton College because the school has got a great reputation in the UK, but also I love the ethos of kindness that runs through the school, that offers a great baseline for the children to be able to explore, take risks, fail and learn from it And it just instinctively felt like a great place to send our girls

Prep Parent (Year 2 & 4)

The teachers at Brighton College (Singapore) are passionate and commited and are able to connect with the students We recommend Brighton for a number of reasons The size and diversity of the school are such that our kids look forward to going each day, and they return home full of enthusiasm

Pre-Prep Parent (Year 1)

So far we felt very much part of the Brighton College community and communication throughout the process has been excellent We felt a real passion and dedication from the staff at the school and that has influenced our choice

Prep Parent (Year 2)

We thought it would be great for our son to have the opportunity to thrive in a smaller environment For us it was about not just the what but about the how, and we really liked the fact that our son can come here and find out what he’s going to be great at and fulfil his potential

Meet the Principal Richard Dyer

Dover Court International School is more than just a school: we are a community with inclusion at our heart. We are the only fully inclusive British-style international school in Singapore and our mission is to prepare students to flourish in our dynamic world, to be active participants in a globally connected community, now and throughout life. We are guided, challenged and inspired by our core values of Excellence, Diversity, Integrity, Resilience, Creativity and Kindness. We work hard to ensure that everyone belongs. Our results and our outcomes are testament to our firm commitment to the belief that success begins with belonging.

We build strong foundations for learning and self-discovery, cultivating agency so that students are empowered and equipped to take on global challenges. Celebrating multiculturalism and neurodiversity, we champion inclusivity to ensure success for every child. For some, that success is measured in traditional examinations. With an average IB Diploma Programme points score in 2023 of 35, 5 points above the global average, and with students accepted to world-class universities, such as Imperial College London, the National University of Singapore and University College London, we stand among the very best in Singapore and the world.

We offer three distinct pathways to cater to different needs. Pathway 1 is the mainstream educational programme; Pathway 2 teaches a mainstream curriculum with some subjects in a smaller setting, adapted for each student’s individual needs. Pathway 3 offers a bespoke programme of study, designed for students needing help in functional life skills All students across the three pathways share the same campus and closely interact with each other, creating a nurturing environment where an awareness of a truly diverse world is formed

As a Nord Anglia Education school, we enjoy access to the world’s best educators, all of whom are highly trained to provide individualised learning experiences to students from ages three to 18

Testimonials

Astrid, Year 12 Student

This is my tenth year at Dover Court, and the school feels very much lik me I enjoy the diverse nature of DCIS, with students from all over the world and of all abilities Being part of such a diverse community allows for openmindedness and a global mindset As a teenager, the number one thing that I like about going to school is the community feeling, how all our differences are what gives us a common sense of belonging But, also, all my teachers are amazing They see me as an individual and create fantastic learning opportunities for us, making sure that we know that they are there to support us

I finished my GCSEs in the spring and I’m now in Sixth Form, studying the IBDP I want to work with children and right now my plan is to become a teacher I want to help children reach their full potential and be a role model for them I have dyslexia and the support I have been given from my teachers has helped me get to where I am today I hope to one day be able to do the same to others

Jacqueline Glazerman, Deputy Head of Secondary – Community & Guidance

I arrived in Singapore in 2023, to begin my role at Dover Court Interna School I am sure I am not alone when I say that COVID-19 was a catalyst for rethinking my own priorities and re-establishing what my core values were as a leader I wanted to be part of an internationally-minded, diverse, and inclusive school that placed wellbeing at the absolute centre of its provision, offered a broad range of opportunities for its students, and that embraced the idea that success looked different for everyone And that is exactly what Dover Court International School is! It is rare to find a school where you can walk through the doors and feel they are truly living and breathing their mission and values, but that’s exactly what we do

We are a community with inclusion at our heart, with a belief that success begins with belonging and that wellbeing underpins, and is central to, academic and personal progress We know that students who feel safe, who feel happy and who feel accepted and celebrated for their differences can better concentrate on their learning And our three learning pathways allow for personalised and bespoke approaches, supporting the needs of all our students and helping them achieve more than they thought possible

It is a huge privilege to be part of a child’s educational journey and I feel very fortunate to work so closely with a community of staff, parents, and students whose values align so closely with those of our school And as a parent of Primary age children, I could not have made a better choice for myself, or for them there is definitely magic happening here at DCIS!

I am so grateful for the University Counsellors and their gu place where I belong academically, socially and emotionall taught me the most important lesson that I still carry into my freshman year: the idea of “fail often, fail well”, it happens to all of us, but what’s important is how you react to it, and make the comeback, and that is one of the keys to success.

I must say that with the help of her teachers in Epsom, they gravitated her towards her potential, they provided her the right journeys to reach the destination that she wants, because at the end of the day it is the child that is integral.

When we walk in, it’s like a miniEngland here! It is a fantastic programme because it brings the best of both worlds. I don’t see many places that offer bilingual education. Both of these languages are equally important, and if you are able to converse and switch between English and Mandarin just like that, on that person itself it’s very good for their future

The application process to US universities is complex, but with one-on-one consultation with the Head of Higher Education in Epsom, I got personalised help and guidance for my essay writing and recommendation letter So Epsom really prepared me to show the best version of myself with the admission tutors in US universities

We have two sons studying here at Epsom. It’s amazing to see how the boys develop with the school. Epsom’s one of the few educational institutions that provide a really British education, so that’s what really attracted us to enrol our children here It’s been a fantastic journey for us The children see school as an adventure, they enjoy it everyday, they’re excelling both academically and as an individual as well They have the opportunities to perform in music recitals, festivals and so forth

Being a boarder at MCM has helped my son to become a more independent and wellrounded individual The holistic approach of pastoral care at MCM means that my son is challenged academically, sportingly, and socially and he has been provided with experiences and opportunities that would otherwise not be available to him All of this, whilst being supported by professional and caring boarding teams who help guide him through the challenges of growing up

I like it here and the teachers seem to live in my heart They know what I think, even if I don't say it, they know it

Prep School Day pupil parent

My two daughters, left school smiling from the first day they entered school. And they hate vacation so much. I don't know what magic MCM does to kids, but I'm sure they enjoy school.

If it weren’t for the strides we undertook in our academic endeavours during the IB, my transition to university would have been a nightmare

Through IB, I learned to be proficient in a vast range of professional data collection tools and presentation software together with the ubiquitous how-tos of appropriately written sections in reports The endless requirements for; problem statements, experimental procedures, conclusions and applying correct citation all of which I learnt with meticulous guidance by my IB teachers, were necessary skills I acquired to deal with tasks at a university level If anything, this really stresses the imperative of having a strong academic framework to ensure students have the ability to meet the untold requirements of being technically apt for university

I like how living on campus doesn’t feel like I’m still at school, after a long day at school I know that coming into the boarding house makes me feel as if I’ve just arrived at home.

Balance in Boarding

At Marlborough College Malaysia we pride ourselves on our award-winning boarding programme, never more so than when we see our pupils thriving in a boarding environment. One essential aspect of our boarding programme is ‘Balance in Boarding’

Balance is a key aspect to every pupil at the College, day or boarding However, in boarding, our pupils have the facilities and opportunities of the College at their fingertips, able to both work hard and play hard in whatever discipline they choose: sport, music, drama and more. They are able to manage their time, split between academic study, co-curriculum and down-time, all of which are important to building a well-rounded, educated and adventurous pupil

We manage this balance through an in-house schedule which allows boarders to dedicate time to their prep with help from teachers during the week, as well as time to attend after-school activities Our pupils are given a great amount of choice to attend clubs, or activities run by boarding houses. The choices and balance we provide our boarders cultivates a culture of independence and selfreliance that is maintained throughout their time at MCM and beyond

Learning Outside the Classroom

Marlborough College Malaysia understands the importance of holistic learning in every aspect of education From biological exploration on our lake, to Educational Visits around the world learning how to ski, kayak or experience different environments, MCM truly values a wealth of experiences to enhance our pupils’ education.

Although we provide many external opportunities to develop skills, we also focus on expanding our pupils’ ability to learn in different ways and explore their passions whilst at school Friday activity sessions are run in order to broaden our pupils’ minds, allow them to explore new hobbies and help them to gain skills outside of the classroom The wealth of activities run over these sessions range from eco-friendly, technically based Precious Plastics, to learning essential life skills in the Cooking Club or Ivy House leadership development programme

Exploration, discovery and curiosity are values that we aim to instil in every one of our pupils, from their first day at MCM, igniting a lifelong passion for adventure, curiosity and learning

Student Testimonials

Daisy Reeves, Class of 2023

My fondest memories of Stamford were formed outside of the classr particularly in the swimming pool Being a member of the swim team allowed me to travel to Thailand, compete with elite swimmers from international schools, and learn discipline in sports Stamford has provided an abundance of opportunities, including starting a netball team and coaching U14 netball girls, being a house captain, and serving as the Student Council president in senior year These roles have helped shape my journey and prepared me beyond academics, developing confidence, leadership, and diplomacy

My IBDP art project about my own journey to understanding New Zealand's history has resulted in connections that I will cherish forever After putting up my exhibition, many teachers and students approached me in the hallways to share their thoughts on the topic and their own family history I am grateful for the skills and experiences acquired during my time at Stamford, which have prepared me for my next chapter in life, whether studying at home or traveling the world

Aryanee Leanne Nair, Class of 2023

I chose the full IB pathway with higher level English, history and eco standard level mathematics, chemistry and Chinese B, which allowe choose an academic path that best suited my learning style.

I have been able to join many different clubs at Stamford that reflect both my interests and values, including the Model United Nations club, where I gained confidence in public speaking and won the “best delegate” award at one of the conferences. Additionally, as a huge foodie, I will always remember International Fiesta, where I got to try a buffet of different cuisines.

The community at Stamford emphasizes study-life balance, and the teachers are very passionate about the subjects they teach, which makes learning much more interesting and less monotonous. Moving forward, I will be going to the UK to study international relations with either Chinese or history, possibly focusing on policy making or national security.

I am originally from India, but have spent my life as a third culture kid countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar, and the United Arab Em before moving to Singapore in 10th grade Choosing to take both AP classes, my time at Stamford shaped me as a person, pushed me out y comfort zone, and developed my leadership skills I was able to engage in extracurricular activities such as being the chair of the Athletics Council, captain of the U19 touch rugby team, and founder of the iBusiness club

As a blended pathway student, I was given the opportunity to choose academically challenging classes that will help me in college The academic and college counseling team at Stamford supported me in preparing for my future after graduation I will be attending Northeastern University in Boston to major in finance with the hopes of becoming a financial consultant

The relationships formed with teachers and students at Stamford will always be close to my heart

Michael Eijbergen

I come from a Dutch-Surinamese family and, like many of us, have lived various places I have spent most of my life living in Washington, DC, and moved to Singapore at the beginning of 11th grade because of my parents' work I am now finishing up my last year as an AP student at Stamford

Moving to a new school during the height of the pandemic was a challenging experience because it was difficult for me to integrate into the school community However, over time I was able to find my place in school sports like football, which allowed me to connect with more people I was able to develop a more global perspective through friends from different backgrounds, and these relationships will always be important to me

After graduating, I plan to attend Utrecht University in the Netherlands, where I will study politics to help enact change on a broader scale

54

Charlotte Aninditta

I am Indonesian and moved to Singapore in the fifth grade Initially, I w in English as an Additional Language (EAL) program, where I learned h better communicate with classmates and teachers I found EAL to be an opportunity to learn about the concept of belonging by interacting with others who were going through the same journey

During my years at Stamford, I sought opportunities to connect with others through sports, musicals, and clubs I participated in various sports teams and learned the importance of cooperation, discipline, and perseverance These qualities helped me prepare for my future and graduation I plan to attend Syracuse University to study political science and law

I believes that Stamford has become an important part of my academic life and that the memories I have with friends and teachers will stay with me in college

Meet the CEO Craig Considine

We were incredibly pleased to receive an OUTSTANDING rating in the BSO (British Schools Overseas) Inspection that took place this year. This inspection was the first time Tanglin has undertaken the process as one school, having previously been inspected as individual Infant, Junior and Senior units. It was indeed pleasing, therefore, to have the coherence and communication between the key stages of a Tanglin education recognised by the inspectors. This whole school approach was also one of the reasons why Tanglin was named International School of the Year in the ISC (Independent Schools Council) Global School awards. The immense professionalism, innovation and care of our teachers and broader community create a climate that allows us to stretch and challenge each child and young person.

The introduction of the new Tanglin Centenary Music Scholarship is testament to this. Launched in September 2023, Tanglin’s first scholarship offering is open to students entering Senior school who demonstrate outstanding musical proficiency. It will enable talented young musicians to fulfil their musical potential and perform at a high level. Successful applicants will be exposed to a range of musical opportunities ranging from solo performances, musical masterclasses, and a mentor programme to guide them on their musical journey.

The Tanglin Musical Scholarship will enable those students whose focus is musical accomplishment to succeed. However, all our students get the chance to enjoy music at Tanglin as part of our extensive Co-Curriculum programme. The Programme covers Sports, Creative Arts, Academic CCAs, Outdoor Education, and is designed to broaden our students’ horizons. The opportunities to discover new passions and develop existing ones abound, whether it be a public speaking initiative, learning a new instrument, participating in The Duke Of Edinburgh programme, competing in an overseas sports competition, or perform on stage These diverse and enriching experiences are part of our aims to give all Tanglin students inspirational opportunities as part of a holistic education; where talents outside the classroom are developed and academic effort and scholarship are honoured

Testimonials

Kari and Jon Goldner, Parents

Chatsworth’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) provides a wonderful platform for learning, taught by teachers who are skilled, motivated and kind Our favourite part is the weekly Performance class Students learn to perform songs and dances in front of an audience and to be confident This is an invaluable skill to teach children

Azzah Atique and Waseem Yusaf, Parents

The biggest reason for keeping our children here is that it's a small school where every teacher knows every student All the subject teachers understand the potential of each child and know them on a personal level, something that's not possible in a school with big student numbers in each grade

Chatsworth has always felt like home to me. I grew up here and till this day still see people I first saw in Y4. That is why I love the community. Our small school means having friends all around and getting to really know everyone. I also love the inclusivity of different passions, hobbies, nationalities and more.

The IB diploma set me up for good habits and knowledge to take on university with ease During the IB course, I continuously learnt to find balance with studies and looking after myself by enjoying social or sporting events IB allowed me to challenge myself by balancing those two as well as learning so much content What you do in terms of workload and your CAS activities teaches you a lot for the future! I still try using the tips I learnt from the IB

Katherine, G12

The teachers at NLCS (Singapore) are among the most committed, knowledgeable, and supportive My teachers enabled me to grow as a student, encouraging me to branch out into the subjects I was most interested in, and provided endless support when I led school-wide events, lectures and assemblies As an IB student, my teachers have guided me on CAS projects, extended essays and TOK work in addition to individual subjects and CCAs I receive support beyond the classroom, and their timely feedback on my schoolwork has helped me progress in the IB and prepare for my final exams

Kenneth, G12

NLCS (Singapore) offers a wide range of academic enrichment programmes for students of all ages I’ve personally attended many McCabe lectures, all of which have left me inspired and well-informed, even on subjects outside my scope of interest The school also provides several academic and extracurricular activities for us to expand our knowledge on subjects we are passionate about One of my favourite extracurricular activities is the Coding CCA, in which students from various year groups participate in sets of coding-related problems I enjoy this activity immensely as it allows me to work on my programming skills outside my computer science classes We are fortunate to have access to the right tools to discover what we are passionate about

Eiji, G11

I have attended a couple of international schools, and I can say with the utmost confidence that NLCS (Singapore) is one of the most supportive and caring schools. It is also one of the few offering a wide range of academic and cocurricular activities. My only regret is that there isn't enough time in the day to participate in them all.

In a country renowned for leading development and achievement in education, UWCSEA is known for outstanding student outcomes, for deep thought leadership, and for profound commitment to flourishing lives of meaningful service For more than 50 years, the College has remained committed to the challenge of bringing to life educational innovation that will equip our students to become agents of change as they strive to bring our Mission to life and create a better future for us all UWCSEA was the second member of the UWC Movement, which now has 18 schools and colleges around the world Opened by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew as Singapore International School in 1971, SIS became the United World College of South East Asia in 1975 Expanding as Singapore has grown we are now a K–12 international school of around 6,000 students, spread across two campuses

Our united, welcoming community embraces students and their families from some 100 different nations, and we have over 20,000 alumni spread across the globe who remain connected to us and to the UWC Mission. As our alumni go out into the world in increasing numbers, we have much to celebrate. Our community today embodies everything the UWC Movement stands for: concern and compassion for others, the willingness to accept responsibility, and tenacity in pursuit of the truth. The diversity of our community adds so much to the learning environment and outcomes for students: increasing the richness of ideas, creating an internationalist mindset and building respect for others.

Sarah and William Katzler, K1 & G2 Parents

Having a younger brother who is a UWC alumnus made our choice in school simple We were familiar with the type of individual UWC delivers into the world as a young adult They are confident, inspiring, and kind Being a parent of a UWCSEA child can be challenging, the values-based learning rarely stays in the classroom and as a result, we often find ourselves in the middle of impromptu beach clean-ups when we go for family walks! Having two children in primary school, we can already see how the holistic approach to education supports these tiny humans to become such strong, well-rounded individuals in later years

Erica Latham and Anthony Hodge, G3 & G6 Parents

We chose UWCSEA for our two daughters (now Grade 6 and Grade 3) after visiting a number of schools in Singapore My husband and I were impressed with the facilities and the commitment to service in the curriculum - along with the academic standing Having now been at the school for seven years we have experienced such a welcoming community The classes are diverse, engaging and supportive, while the teachers are enthusiastic and caring Activities and service are a large part of the experience, with a huge range of activities available onsite, my daughters have been involved in many service options including an environmental leadership course and one recently joined a marine activism programme

Olivier, G12 Boarder, Class of 2023

I’ve had the chance to meet so many different kinds of people from all over the world and to really engage with different perspectives. I love the engagement of the teachers who are extremely understanding of each student's individual needs, motivations and habits.

What I like most about the nature of the school curriculum, especially towards high school, is the freedom and choice they give you in terms of the subject areas you want to study. There are lots of subjects on offer and within those subjects, there can be individual choice in the options studied.

This school has one of the most wide-ranging and comprehensive selections of extracurricular activities to choose from. My extracurriculars have ranged from rugby, to gardening on the rooftop, to saxophone in the jazz band, to taking French lessons after school. My experience with activities in UWCSEA represents only a small fraction of the combinations possible in school. As a boarder, it’s a great opportunity to fully involve yourself in school life, as it is a truly special place to be in and you get to meet many amazing people along the way.

When I am at XCL American Academy, I am happy, thinking, exploring, and having fun. School is so much more than sitting in a classroom and listening It is really learning “why” and being interactive

The teachers at XAA are so smart! I cannot wait for our new building to open! It is going to be great with even more students, more teachers, more learning, and more opportunities for our school community

One of my favorite things I have learned so far at XAA is how to count American money. I think that will be helpful when I grow up!

Irene Charles, Early Years Teacher

One aspect of teaching at XAA that I enjoy most is the play-b curriculum and its child-centred philosophy The learning is childinitiated and restricted only by rules about safety and respecting others.

During their play, the children can access any resources they wish to use in class, and their explorations can take any direction they like Teachers are there to support each of them and plan provocations and invitations based on the interests of the students.

I feel strongly that this is crucial to how young children develop their skills and learn “how” to learn This way of teaching at XAA allows me to witness fantastic learning and breakthroughs daily through play.

Testimonial

Emma Rossi, Grade 9 Student

Our school has great students and teachers I have felt very welcomed since day one! It is a great environment to meet friends from all over the world. Our school work is mainly project-based instead of just learning facts and reciting them. This makes our classes exciting and fun Guided by our caring teachers, we can take ownership of our learning and develop essential skills we will need to succeed now and in the future

For example, during our Design classes, we learn about the Design Cycle, Design Thinking and Constructive Discontent and how to use them to make your idea come to life We research our potential customers and create real products Right now, I am designing a unique phone charger that will charge your phone and several devices simultaneously. This type of project helps us understand how things work in real-life scenarios and how we can use our creativity for problem-solving and developing great ideas In addition, we have a great selection of afterschool activities at school.

I have joined our Esports and basketball teams We had a lot of internal competitions and competitions against other international schools It is fun and exciting to be a part of the team, learn new skills, meet new friends and develop new hobbies.

Yashna Harilela, Early & Primary Years Language Coach

In my classroom, everyone is given a platform to build on their curiosity and foster a love of learning, alongside developing lifelong skills to empower them to reach their full potential.

I also feel fortunate to be part of a supportive and collaborative teaching community that’s driven by our shared mission to empower an inclusive international community of happy learners who aspire to positively impact others.
