The story of the brand begins with the land where Manadoneses call home. Blessed with beautiful nature, Manado is a welcoming place that inspires and ignites. It is the place of progressing and development, where people gather and march toward a promising future.

logo construction

The logo mark was composed by 3 blocks of tall triangles (figure 1) that represents for progression and the growing strength of Manado. This triangle composition creates a hidden shape of an M (figure 2) which is the initial of Manado.

LogoMark

The hidden M represents for open society of Manado that would welcome anyone to its land. And those who come to the land will be encouraged to fill up those empty spaces (hidden M) with their lives. The three block of colour (figure 3) portrays the three core elements and the energy resources of Manado: - The Land - The Sea - The People

LogoType

The all lower cap logotype expresses the open and approachable environment that Manado offers. The friendly typeface also creates an aesthetic balance with the upright and sharp logomark.

There are two lockups configuration for the logo: - Vertical. Always give the most priority for this lockup. - Horizontal . Suitable to use in narrow space. Each lockup has 4 colours variations: - Full Colour. Always give the most priory for this variation. - Key Line. Suitable to be on dark backgrounds or images. - Mono Black. When working with restricted B&W production. - Mono White. When working with restricted B&W production.

The Manado Logo’ simple design language and composition allow the brand to have more flexibilities in create subbrands under Manado. The general rule is that as long as the triangles composition is recognizable, it is free to explore different kinds of graphic treatments that fit the sub-brand objective.

safe zone & minimum size x SAFE ZONE Safe zone is the minimum area surrounding the logo which must remain clear of any other graphic elements or text. each logo version uses the cap height (x) measurement to determine its clear space.

MINIMUM SIZE Minimum size specifications ensure that the logo remains clearly legible in all applications and all methods of reproduction. Incorrect use of the logos will weaken and damage the brand’s identity and its consistent appearance. Therefore always follow the recommendations set in this guidebook to ensure an impactful identity of Manado. Always avoid those misuse of logos that are listed here.

GRADIENTS The gradients represent the energy the land and the people has within. Gradients can be used effectively as backgrounds. Note that it is recommended to always use Radial for gradient background.

COLOUR COMBINATION Beside the Core Colours that are encouraged to be used often, other colour combinations could also be used depending on the usage and situation. The basic rule of creating colour palette is trying to avoid using primary colours combination and use secondary or complimentary colours. HEADINGS & MAIN TITTLES WC Mano Negra Bta is a hand written typeface that can express the freedom spirit of Manado. It could be used as headlines or main tittles. Using the typeface will add more individuality and characteristic to the communication.

SUB HEADINGS Aller Display is the typeface used for the logotype. Using it carefully to create a synergy effect with the branding. *Please note that when using Aller Display, Upper Case should not be used at all time.

TRIANGLES COMPOSITION Using the triangles to create graphical communication device will further strengthen the identity consistency of the brand as it coheres with the logo mark. The triangle composition would often create a sense of movement that reflects the city progress and growing strength.

There is no limit on how can the triangle be creatively composed and edited to communicate Manado Identity. It can be blocks of colour of lines work or can be combinations of both. Or it can be a container for image masking.
