Original Thinking
O&M CØR.color is the next generation in Ammonia, PPD and Resorcinol-free professional hair colour.
We call it CØR because colour is the core of our brand.
The Ø at the heart represents our commitment to making the cleanest colour in the world by eliminating harsh chemicals.

Original Exclusions
We called our next-generation colour CØR because colour is the core of our brand. At the very heart is the Ø, a symbol of our unbreakable commitment to zero Ammonia, PPD and Resorcinol.
One of the first haircare companies in the world to produce professional-grade Ammonia, PPD and Resorcinol-free permanent hair colour, O&M is serious about low-chemical solutions for today’s conscious clients and committed stylists.
CØR.color is both an answer to an industry-wide problem of increasing chemical sensitivity, and a compelling marketing story in a world where consumers are constantly on the lookout for ever-more effective natural beauty solutions.
AMMONIA is typically used to swell the hair and open the cuticle scales to allow colour to penetrate deep within the cortex. For anyone with sensitive skin or scalp, this is an unhealthy additive. We’ve replaced it with MEA - an alkaline agent that mimics the role of Ammonia, minus the odour, red eyes and irritation.
PPD (PARAPHENYLENEDIAMINE) is a chemical known to cause dermatitis, reddening and swelling of the scalp and face. We’ve replaced it with low levels of PTDS (p-Toluenediamine Sulfate), enabling up to 50% of PPD allergic stylists and clients to now use colour.
RESORCINOL is a popular colouring agent toxic to wildlife and the human immune system. Shade dependent, we’ve replaced it with 2-Methylresorcinol or 4-Chlororesorcinol – two chemicals kinder to the environment and with less potential to sensitise.
+ Mindful of our results-driven industry, O&M CØR.color maintains limited chemical inclusion to ensure the highest degree of performance, ensuring client retention. Your business is our business.
Original Technology
Following years of research and in-salon testing, CØR.color represents a huge leap forward for the hair industry, with the introduction of a progressive new colour technology – Molecular Blend Technology (MBT).
This revolutionary colouring system pre-links base and reflect colour pigments, allowing them to develop more effectively and evenly, giving superior coverage while minimising the risk of scalp irritation.
As hairdressers ourselves, we know that technology is nothing without salon-floor performance. Following extensive in-salon testing, we're confident in the spectacular results of this advanced formulation, and excited to share them with you.
Behind the Scenes
• Hair colour pigments come in two forms: base and reflect
• MBT pre-links these pigments in the laboratory, taking into consideration the specific molecular weight of each pigment
• Once all base and reflect pigments are paired, no unlinked pigments remain which could cause scalp irritation
• This linking process also guarantees that all pigments are fully developed and oxidised during the colour process
The result is greater grey coverage (up to a level 9) without the need for Ammonia

Hair Structure
Cuticle
The cuticle layer is made up of flat, over lapping cells of keratin. The purpose of the cuticle layer is to cover and protect the delicate inside of the hair. The cuticle layer is transparent, and it is the cortex that determines hair colour.
Cortex
The cortex is where the natural pigment, known as melanin, is located. This is what determines hair colour. Melanin can be broken into two types: Eumelanin (blue/brown) and pheomelanin (red/yellow). White hair or albino hair is depleted of melanin and does not appear to have a colour.
Medulla
This is the innermost part of the hair and surprisingly, there is no evidence that it has any part to play in the characteristics of the hair. It can be present in random breaks, or sometimes is not present at all.
Texture Porosity
Porosity is the ability of the hair to absorb liquids. This will affect the colour's ability to last.
High Absorbs colour easily but may also lose colour quickly
Medium Absorbs and holds colour well
Low Resistant to colour and may be hard to absorb
The Colour Process Chemical Reaction
In order to achieve great colour outcomes every time, it is important to understand the colour process. Colour inside the colour tube contains unprocessed colour molecules. These are known as colour precursors. Once the colour is mixed with an activator (hydrogen peroxide) these colour precursors start to develop into colour.
Two key ingredients allow this to occur:
MEA (ALKALISING AGENT) gently swells the hair and opens the cuticle scales to allow the colour substances to penetrate within the cortex of the hair.
OXYGEN by way of the activator reacts with the colour substance causing a chemical reaction known as oxidation.
The activator simultaneously lightens the natural melanin in the hair in order to fully expose the new colour. The activator chosen will determine the amount of lightening that can be achieved.
In order for full colour uptake and desired colour result the mix of both colour and activator must be measured. A colour application should be applied evenly and efficiently for even colour outcomes.

This diagram shows the relationship of the natural level to the underlying pigment.
The underlying pigment is lightened when an Activator is applied and is not visible but affects the result. The underlying pigments do become visible when we apply lighteners.
Sometimes the underlying pigment will help to increase the vibrancy of the finished result but most of the time, if the target shade does not work with the underlying pigment we must add mix tone to our formula.
Colour Usage
O&M CØR.color has various usages for creating the ultimate colour result. Because CØR.color is free from Ammonia, it can be used as a hybrid range offering for both permanent and demi permanent colour results.
The long lasting result comes down to CØR.color keeping the hair hydrated and in better condition throughout the colour process by using Macadamia and Coconut oil. MBT helps to ensure long lasting colour results.

Application
• Apply to freshly washed, towel-dried hair
• Use bowl and brush
• Start application at nape and work towards front applying front hairline last
Mixing
• 1 Part Pastel Shade to 2 Parts Activator (1:2) - 30g pastel shade 60ml Activator Activators used 1% (3.5Vol), 1.5% (5Vol) or 3% (10Vol)
• Timing: up to 30 minutes
• Rinse thoroughly
• Apply recommended O&M treatment
Activators
Original Mineral have developed a range of activators specifically to be used with CØR.color. An activator containing a blend of macadamia oil and coconut oil works as a natural emollient to maintain softness and moisture.
The activator has a dual action during the colour process.
• To drive the colour into the hair shaft and oxidise the colour molecules To oxidise the natural melanin from the hair
All O&M Activators are stabilised and contain oxygen in controlled quantities which are released once the Activator is mixed with the colour.
Usage
Grey Hair
In order to achieve maximum grey hair coverage a base shade may be required. The table below gives recommendations of the quantity of “base” needed for optimum results. The Activator recommended for grey hair coverage is 6% (20Vol).
0%–25%
Up to 50%
Base 75% Target shade
Base 75% Target shade
Up to 75% 50% Base 50% Target shade
75%–100% 75% Base 25% Target shade
For highly resistant grey hair we DO NOT recommend decreasing the amount of Activator. Instead we suggest using a base shade 1/2 to 1 level darker than desired result.
Example:
• Desired shade: 6.13
• Grey: 75%
• Mixture: 1/2 5.0 + 1/2 6.13 with 6% (20Vol)
• Development Time: 40–45 minutes
O&M Clear
O&M Clear is a permanent hair colour crème without any pigment. It is extremely versatile in its uses and is a great tool for the hair colourist to have on hand in order to deal with any colour issues that may arise.
O&M Clear can prevent colour build-up on the hair, which can lead to a lacklustre result
Technical Usage
• Create a lighter version of the chosen colour
Example: 25g 8.43 and 25g O&M Clear mixed 75ml Activator
Result: 9.43
• Stops over saturation of colour pigment on porous or sensitised hair
• Pastelises and softens the chosen shade for a lighter, more light-reflective result
• Break the base of the natural hair
- Gives a sunkissed effect (mix with 3% (10Vol) or 6% (20Vol) 1:1.5)
- Create an even blend on highlighted hair by slightly effecting the natural hair (lightening) 1/2 a level
- Can be used to reinstate a new colour finish to the hair without any colour pigment O&M Clear is not recommended to be used when grey hair coverage is required
Timing
• When adding O&M Clear to colour, normal timing applies
• When O&M Clear is used alone it can be mixed with 3% (10Vol), 6% (20Vol) or 9% (30Vol) for up to 45 minutes
• Please note the longer O&M Clear is left on the hair the lighter and warmer the result

O&M Paint Powder
O&M has created a paint powder that provides brilliant results for Hair Painting, Balayage and open air highlighting, while keeping the integrity of the hair condition.
We addressed the in-salon issues many colourists face:
• Product drying out too quickly
• Product bleeding
• Ability to get close-to-root application
• Compromising hair condition for results
The O&M Paint Powder combines key ingredients to prolong the lift process, which gives the colourist the ability to reach lighter levels by keeping the paste moist.
We have a mineral-dense formulation that includes:
KAOLIN CLAY which gives the product a thick paste like consistency perfect for bleed free application and the ability to keep the core product around the hair shaft moist and working for a full 50 minutes.
ILLITE which is another clay-like product designed to retain moisture, without swelling or expanding the product, perfect for close-to-root application. The technology we have used in the product allows for no cover between sections, though plastic wrap can be used for different techniques without any change in performance.
RICE FLOUR as a natural thickener and ALOE JUICE for an extra shot of moisture while lifting, round out our formulation for the O&M Paint Powder. Condition, control, and results are what we deliver with every O&M product.
Mixing Instructions

Colour Correction
Reinstating Colour
Reinstating colour, also known as pre-pigmenting or filling artificially coloured hair, can be performed in either 1 or 2 steps depending on the level of darkening required and the porosity of the hair.
Step 1
When reinstating colour up to 2 levels darker on hair in good condition we add the pre-pigmentation shade directly into the target shade mixture.
Mixture: 50g of target shade, 5g of pre-pigmentation shade and 75ml Activator
• Timing: up to 35 minutes
Step 2
When reinstating colour 3 levels darker or working with highly sensitised hair then a pre-pigmentation service is required first , prior to applying desired target shade to the hair.
• Mixture: 1 Part pre-pigmentation shade to 2 Parts 1.5% (5Vol) Activator (1:2)
• Apply to dry unwashed hair
• Process for 15 minutes
• Comb off and wipe away excess colour with paper towel
• Apply target shade with 3% (10Vol) Activator
• Timing: up to 35 minutes
Always choose a warm shade for pre-pigmentation 1 shade lighter than desired result.
Colour Correction
Removing Colour
Removing artificial colour, also known as colour cleansing is performed when wanting to achieve a lighter desired shade on the hair or the reflect of the hair is incompatible with desired shade.

Virgin Head Application Technique
A virgin head application is used when the hair has had no previous colouring, or the re-growth is longer than 1 inch to avoid ‘bright roots’ or ‘root glow’. These applications are performed to ensure even results from root to end.
Virgin Head Application With Standard Shade
Apply your mixture to the lengths and ends. Apply approximately 1 inch away from the scalp
• Develop for 20 minutes
Apply a fresh mixture of the same colour to the root area and re-apply to the lengths and ends
• Develop for a further 35–40 minutes and remove as per standard removal technique
If your target shade is darker than the natural level, apply your chosen mixture straight from root to ends making sure to well saturate the ends with colour
Develop for 35–40 minutes and remove as per standard removal technique
• For re-growth applications more then 1 inch, apply to the area of hair that has no artificial colour but is more then 1 inch away from the scalp
• Develop for 20 minutes
• Apply mixture to the root area, re-apply to the band area and then choose your treatment of fade technique for the mid-lengths and ends and develop for the full 35–40 minutes
Virgin Head Application With Special Blondes
• Apply your mixture to the lengths and ends. Apply approximately 1 inch away from the scalp
Develop for 20 minutes
• Apply a fresh mixture of the same colour to the root area and re-apply to the lengths and ends
• Develop for a further 45–50 minutes and remove as per standard removal technique

Sensitivity Testing
Sensitivities
Certain people have sensitivities or allergies to hair colour. O&M uses the latest technology to develop gentle, Ammonia-free products to lessen sensitivity. Some ingredients can cause allergies or sensitivities, therefore it is important to carry out a patch test prior to application
Patch Test
To patch test, apply a small amount of target colour behind the ear, leave without covering or removing for 48 hours. After this time, if there is any sign of reddening, itching or irritation DO NOT use this product.
CØR.restore
Multiple services – Immediate results
A restoring treatment for all salon colour services. CØR.restore is a 2 step process.
Part 1 - CØR.restore Liquid
CØR.restore Part 1 is a liquid integrator filler designed to be added straight into the colouring or bleaching mixture.
CØR.restore Part 1 contains a blend of amino acids which protect and nourish the hair structure during the colouring and or lightening process. These amino acids work to relink disulphide bonds that can be broken down during the colour/lightening process.
CØR.restore Part 1 is re-linking the hairs internal bonds and protecting the keratin structure throughout the colour process.
Can be added to all colour service treatments:
• Bleaching
• Permanent colour
• Semi permanent colour
• Does not interfere with Activator strength or timing
Part 2 - CØR.restore Balm
CØR.restore Part 2 is a restorative cream designed to be used in salon post colour. Must only be used after Part 1. It contains amino acids and organic elements.
This cream contains a blend of amino acids that repair and plump the keratin protein.
CØR.restore Part 2 is designed to penetrate deep into the cortex of the hair fibre, where it will link damaged bonds, and repair damaged keratin while protecting the healthy keratin protein.
The complex of organic elements contained in Part 2 have protective properties that hydrate the hair shaft. Their high molecular weight allows them to adhere to the outer layers of the hair cuticle giving uniform strength and porosity to the hair.
How does it work?
The blend of amino acids repair and plump the keratin protein in the hair which may be modified during colour/bleaching services.
CØR.restore
These amino acids penetrate deep into the cortex of the hair fibre where they are able to repair damaged keratin parts while protecting the healthy keratin. The complex of organic elements (Arginine, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Proline, Threonine, Isoleucine, and Histidine) have protective properties that hydrate the hair shaft all over. Their high molecular weight allows these elements to adhere to the outer layers of the hair shaft and compact the hair cuticle giving uniform strength and porosity to the hair.
