By Fred Sherwin The Orléans Star A Chateauneuf street was the scene of what police are describing as a targeted shooting last Thursday night as two bullets ripped through the front door of a singled etached house on Duclos Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. According to the Ottawa Police Service, one of the shots went through the targeted house and struck a second home directly behind it. Needless to say, the shooting has left many residents living in the quiet neighbourhood near Barrington Street and Viseneau Drive justifiably unnerved. It is the second shooting in the area in less than three weeks. Several shots were fired at a vacant home on Aspen Village Circle on March 14. In that instance police found a bullet lodged in the outer wall of the house and
several shell casings were found on the ground in front. Chateauneuf Community Association president Pat Teolis, says the recent shootings are worrisome, and he hopes the police will eventually find the person or persons who did it. The OPS guns and gangs unit is investigating the most recent shooting. They are asking any possible witnesses to come forward. Individuals with any information about this case are asked to call 613-2361222 ext. 5050. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). In the meantime, Innes Ward councillor Laura Dudas is organizing a meeting between members of the Ottawa Police Service and local residents in an effort to try help allay their fears. The date and time still have to be determined.
