The next step in the process allows you to select the type of fundraising page you want.
Now if you happen to have a particular event in mind/planned, then that’s great, if not then don’t worry as you can create a generic page. The options displayed will help you make up your mind. But if in doubt just choose ‘Other’. Choose the type of page by clicking ‘Select’ below the appropriate type.
In this example, I’ll select the ‘Other’ option.

Next is to select how long you wish to keep the page active for, after your event. This can be for a period up to 12 months, but it’s often worth keeping it within the year as it helps us identify our active fundraisers for the given year. e.g. if you open your page in March then choose 8 or 9 months.
So choose the appropriate length of time and click ‘Continue’. If you have used the site before you may have an existing account and if so you can log in and create your page per this guide (skip to page 6). But if you’re reading this guide then chances are you have never used the site and you need to register an account. Enter your email address, select ‘I’m new to this site’ and click ‘Continue’.

Next is choosing your Event. -
Now in the Events list there is a huge list of possible pre-organised events, which you may like to take part in on behalf of ORM.
-
If that doesn’t suit your needs then you can create your own ‘Custom Event’ and give it its own title.
-
You may have multiple events, which fall on different dates, or you mightn’t know the date so in the ‘Date’ section, you can always just put in an arbitrary date (like tomorrow’s date for example).
-
Note, the ‘number of months to keep page active for’ length of time is based off this date so if you choose say 15th of March and had chosen ‘2 Months’ in that step, then your page will de-activate on 15th of May. It will still be visible after that time but won’t be active to be used by your sponsors. Just something to bear in mind, and these properties can be edited/changed later if needs be anyway.
Next is setting your fundraising target. This can be any amount really but given your minimum target is 1900 then at a minimum you should input that value. If you want to raise 3000 or 30,000 then knock yourself out, we’d love to see you do it ! As you can see there are two sections: 1. Money raised off- line: this is all the money you receive personally through events or donations, you should keep this field up to date as you progress in your fundraising (can be done after log in to the site in the ‘Your Account’ section). 2. Money raised on-line: which is all the money donated to you/ORM via your page. This is updated automatically by the website.

Next you can update the personal message for your fundraising page. We have a generic message pre-populated but you may wish to put in some details about your events or link to Facebook or elsewhere so feel free to edit this section and add a personal touch.
Next you can edit the image for your page. An appropriate picture can be uploaded here. So for example if you have an event poster image you could upload it here so people see your event details. (FYI we can create an event image for you).

Your options from here are: 1. You can email on the link to your fundraising page onto your friends and contacts asking them to sponsor you. 2. You can share the link on Facebook and use the MyCharity application to synch up your fundraising page and Facebook account. This allows you to inform your friends on Facebook about your page and your call for sponsorship. FYI: within ‘Your Account’ you’ll be able to update and edit your page as you wish.

The MyCharity.ie Facebook Application: You must have a facebook page to avail of this option. They are very simple to set up. On your profile, you just type mycharity into the search area and up will come the choice of many, but the first choice should be the Mycharity app. If you click on this it will take you to the application itself. It will then walk you through step by step how to do it. It should take about 30 seconds. All people that sponsor you will be advertised on your wall giving all your friends on facebook the option to sponsor you some more. A very useful tool that will constantly remind all your friends and loved ones that people are supporting you and that they can too.
So that’s basically it really, it’s then up to you to share your link to gain sponsorship from your friends & contacts and also to keep your off-line sponsorship up to date in order to keep your fundraising activities transparent. We wish you the best of luck with your fundraising and hope you found this document both helpful and useful. (Send any suggestions for additions or changes to info@outreachmoldova.org)
