I want my child to be proud of the given name.
I want them to know that their name is meaningful and unique.
Jaidee is 4 years old. It's never a better time than this.
Start them young.
Names carry family values, cultures, dreams, and identities.
Unfortunately, immigrants and POC most often have names mispronounced, making the person feel invisible.
They are several reasons that person tell you it's ok to call them whatever that 'suit' you. Maybe they see YOU are uncomfortable, and they are trying to make YOU feel more at ease. Often time because they have given up after hearing no one even trying to say their name correctly.
Families took time to pick names important to THEM.
They ARE our identity.
Respect all cultures, languages, and families.
