TECH BUDDIES

New Program!

Starting in 2023, Community Education in partnership with the Orono Tech Department and Orono High School will be offering a Tech Buddies program at the Orono Activities Center. This program will connect students and community members around the topic of technology. Tech Buddies will meet the 4th Thursday of the month from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. and will be free and open to the community.

This program was piloted at Haven Homes in Maple Plain this summer and received wonderful feedback. Residents were able to connect with students, learn about new technology trends and get questions answered.

Come learn tricks for FaceTime and Zoom, how to organize your pictures or how to set security settings in your email and social media. We are excited to provide this new opportunity for connection at the Orono Activities Center. No sign up required. We hope to see you there!

Czech Kolaches

Kolaches are one of Czechoslovakia’s national pastries. Immigrants brought their passion for Kolaches to the Midwest as early as the 1860’s. Kolaches are marvelous egg-rich, slightly sweet yeast dough traditionally filled with fruit mixtures such as apricot, cottage cheese, poppy seed or prune. They can be shaped into small rounds, square “tied packages,” or filled turnovers. Plan to bring containers to take home an assortment to share with family, friends or to freeze. You will also leave with many recipes, tips and techniques to master these Old World delicacies. A $15 supply fee is payable to the instructor at class.
