Among small villages in Norway Bjørke boasts the second largest number of medieval buildings

Hotel Union Øye “A piece of paradise” an English tourist called the hotel in the 1890’s Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany are some of the guests who enjoyed their stay The hotel, situated in the Norangsdal valley, now appears as it did in its heyday


The Molladalen valley A spectacular valley with breathtaking mountain formations


The Molladalen valley is a popular walking and climbing area


Volda Open-Air Museum and Tannery Museum The Tannery Museum beside the fjord was in full operation until 1870 The only museum in Scandinavia for organic tanning of skins, hides and leather goods


The Viking heritage at Bjørkedalen


Bjørkedalen Craftsmen here still maintain ancient boat building traditions. You can visit the boat builder’s workshop and try rowing a Viking ship yourself!


Runde – the fantastic bird-island west of Ă˜rsta

Boat trip to Bjørke - Viking ships at the Bjørkedalen valley Arriving at Sæbø the excursion continues with a boat trip on the Hjørundfjord to the old village of Bjørke with its many medieval buildings and interesting story

A coach takes over after a tour of the village, and the next stop is the Bjørkedal valley where it is possible to sail and row Viking ships on the lake and see how the boats are being constructed Lunch at Bjørke or Bjørkedal

Vartdal, Store Standal and Trandal An exciting round trip to discover the municipality of Ørsta: a drive along the north western part of Ørsta and the valleys, and a ferry crossing of the Hjørundfjord to the village of Trandal for lunch. Trandal is only accessible from the sea – no roads lead here! There will also be a visit to the Brudavoll Country Courtyard.
