Johanney Ortega House Johanney Ortega Liberal,Kansas Very much like the Prieto house this design is yet again challenging the traditional style home with a more contemporary aesthetic feel. Materiality evokes this by using a Concrete Tan facade, combining with Stucco, Stone, and a metal roof. The program consist of a flexible floorplan which can be used to rent other rooms in the house without interupting the owners private spaces.

Duration 6 Weeks
The Cultural Center, located in Egersund, Norway, is intended to give back to this historical site with a beautiful culture where this location displays the most beautiful artwork. To remind the locals and inform the visiting of the importance of this site. The site condition manifests itself through a historical architectural tradition of using wood as the primary building material. Approach to the final product consists of 5 systems; Circulation, Private vs. Public, Served vs. Service, Structure, and finally Enclosure. Through this process, a design ultimately relates to its context and meets the goals of urban acupuncture.

Mt.Mitchell Interpretive Center Location: Mount MItchell|Wamego,Kansas
Duration 6 Weeks
Visitors from around the world come to this special place in the heart of America where limestone rock, grasses, and wildflowers merge with a blue prairie sky. Today the tallgrass prairie stands as the world’s best remaining example of a diminished ecosystem that is heavily endangered. The Mount Mitchell Interpretive Center has become a signature building to demonstrate the essential elements of the beautiful prairie but, most importantly, shows how nature survives from its prey or how predators achieve their feast through a simple technique of camouflaging with their surroundings. Combination of material color, Countershading, and form make the Mount Mitchell Interpretive Center a unique experience, where a building can become visible but momentarily camouflages with its surroundings. 72 3 Main Principles of Camouflage
Form:
Material Combination:
CounterShading:
Vertical, Diagonal lines emerging from the ground and elevated several feet cast irregular shadows to distort the monotomy of the overall dimension of the design.
Roofs which are planted with grass, or even with small shrubs can match their surroundings almost entirely, under all weather and light conditions and play well at hand with a combination of a wall material that reflect the scenes of all the surroundings.
Surrounding with trees gives better concealment and natural irregularity of light and shadow. Trees play an important part in the design of natural camouflage.
73 Approach to the site
Site Condition:
Configuration of site:
Becoming one with the site:
The site is found in a condition where the elevational change is very minimal.
In order to help the camouflage effect and help the form the site has been excavated following the building outline.
With the building outline excavated the builing embeds perfectly within the site to emphasizes the buildings form is emerging from the ground.
