parking space is a location that is designated for parking, either paved or unpaved. Parking spaces can be in a parking garage, in a parking lot or on a city street. It is usually a space delineated by road surface markings. The automobile fits inside the space, either by parallel parking, perpendicular parking or angled parking. Depending on the location of the parking
space, there can be regulations regarding the time allowed to park and a fee paid to use the parking space. When the demand for spaces outstrips supply vehicles may overspill park onto the sidewalk, grass verges and other places which were not

Disable parking permits and rights
disabled parking permit, also known as a handicapped permit, disabled placard, disabled badge and “Blue Badge in the European Union, is displayed upon parking a vehicle carrying a person whose mobility would be otherwise significantly impaired by one or more of age, illness, disability or infirmity. The permit allows exemption from street-parking charges in some places and is used to park within dedicated disabled parking spaces reserved for people who have satisfied requirements to receive the placard.W

Parking tickets
This section includes information on how to pay for parking tickets and what to do if you think that you have received a ticket in error. The Swedish Transport Agency looks after the administration of parking tickets issued on the municipalities’ streets. However, we do not look after the administration of tickets from private parking companies. The Swedish Transport Agency: checks that payments have been made within the prescribed period, issues remittance slips and reminders, refers unpaid matters to the Enforcement Service. Do you think that you have received a parking ticket in error? If you consider that you have received a parking ticket in error, you can apply for rectification. You can do this by visiting the police station in the community where you received the parking ticket. You must take your parking ticket with you. If your application is not approved, you can write and contest your liability to pay (appeal). Send your letter to the address stated on the parking ticket. Keep in mind that the parking fine must be paid even if you consider it to be in error. The fine will be refunded to you if your application is approved. Provisions on parking fines are contained in the Parking Fines Act (1976:206) (in Swedish only). Paying fines Payments must be made to the following account: Bank giro account no. 5051-6905 If you do not use the printed remittance slip issued, you must state the matter number or OCR number. If you are paying via the Internet, you must state the OCR/reference number shown on your payment slip. The owner of the vehicle in question is always responsible for the fine being paid.

eople invest so much time and money in their cars that it is little wonder they pamper their vehicles as much as their loved ones. Well, some of us do and for such auto heads, the parking spot for their favorite set of wheels is equally important. We have already seen these awesome home parking garages in the past, where avid car lovers have turned their homes into unique and exceptional garage space. Now, it’s time for commercial parking spaces to steal the spotlight. Here are 11 such stunning designs that bring together contemporary form with ample space and plenty of safety for your car. While some look like futuristic metal palaces, others employ quirky designs to bring a whole new experience for drivers. So let’s have them. Some select dealers in the Europe allow customers to pick specific car models from Autostadt itself and in case you take up this option, you can not only see a robotic elevator bring out the car you have chosen, but also get a special visitors experience at Autostadt. Here are twin towers where cars come ahead of men! One would assume that a parking garage created by the designers of the ‘Bird’s Nest’ stadium for Beijing 2008 Olympics would be something special and it truly is. The 1111 Lincoln Road parking garage by Herzog & de Meuron is as much an example of stylish modern design as it is a spacious parking lot. Set in Miami, Florida, the 300-car garage is made largely
using concrete and glass and with a parking complex, a cool restaurant and ocean views from the terrace, it is a lot more than just a garage. This parking lot designed with a sense of flair by Elliott and Associates Architects is a fine example of meshing together modern design with the classic parking garage structure. Covering an entire city block and housing 791 cars, the Car Park One is more like a park and less like a garage. A creative mesh that covers the building allows for plenty of natural air and ventilation, while hiding the cars visually from the world outside. The beautiful metal mesh also plays with sunlight and reflects various hues in different times of the day. Color-coded levels and elegant aesthetics on the inside ensure you have a nice time and never get lost inside this modern behemoth.

ince parking rules change from road to road and place to place, always watch for and obey signs that say you may not stop or limit stopping, standing or parking. Be aware that not all parking by-laws are posted on signs. Here are some basic parking rules: Never park on the travelled part of a road. Drive off the road onto the shoulder if you must stop for some reason. Never park on a curve, hill or anywhere you do not have a clear view for at least 125 metres in both directions. Do not park where you will block a vehicle already parked or where you will block a sidewalk, crosswalk, pedestrian crossing or road entrance. Do not park within three metres of a fire hydrant, on or within 100 metres of a bridge or within six metres of a public entrance to a hotel, theatre or public hall when it is open to the public. Do not park within nine metres of an intersection or within 15 metres if it is controlled by traffic lights. Do not park within 15 metres of the nearest rail of a level railway crossing. Do not park where you will get in the way of traffic or snow clearing. Never open the door of your parked vehicle without first making sure that you will not endanger any other person or vehicle or interfere with traffic. Generally, a good practice is to open the driver’s door with
your right hand as this will force a shoulder check at the same time. Take extra precautions to avoid opening a door in the path of cyclists, who often ride close to parked cars (Diagram 2-49). When you must open a door next to traffic, keep it open only long enough to load or unload passengers.
Some areas are free parking while others aren not free, display ticket and park, some parking are only for some specified time and or limited time, some have security while some are at owners risk .
