Shopping for Dad Dads often make the decision on where the family goes to shop and relax, and Hyatt Plaza makes sure that there are plenty of reasons why discerning dads would want to keep coming back to Hyatt. Well dressed dads have many stores to choose from when shopping for stylish clothes. Mr. Price and Bossini offer a great selection of office and casual wear ranging from shirts, ties and jackets to more casual cotton pants, jeans and t-shirts. For shoes and accessories, dads can visit Aldo for more western choices while there is Tamima for the more traditional sandals and Athlete’s Foot for sportswear. Pari Gallery launches new fragrances almost every week and so will always have something new to offer men in terms of fragrances. For fathers who enjoy shopping for accessories, such as watches and jewellery, there are stores like Crono, Al Sulaiman and again, even Pari Gallery which offers an interesting variety of items for the fashion conscious dad. Shopping for Mom Mothers are hard to please! Most of the time, moms need more variety when it comes to choice and Hyatt Plaza doesn’t disappoint. There is a vast variety of fashion and accessory stores for ladies at Hyatt. When it comes to clothes, whether you like Western, or more traditional attire, Hyatt Plaza has a store for you to shop at. Mr. Price offers Western clothing for women. Dary has an exquisite range of jalabiyas and abayas.

Every woman loves her shoes and for that, there is Charles and Keith, Nine West, Naturalizer, and Athlete’s Foot for sportswear. The list of stores for mums continues, with La Senza and Nayomi for lingerie and nightwear. Nayomi has just launched a new collection that can be seen at their store at Hyatt, and La Senza has some lovely nightwear that is both practical and attractive. Mothers can also choose to shop for perfumes and beauty care products at Hyatt Plaza. There is the ever popular The Body Shop that has a range of make-up, lotions and bath products to choose from. The Inglot store is reminiscent of a rainbow with their range of make-up attractively displayed and helpful staff ever ready to assist in finding that exact shade you are looking for. Pari Gallery is always a busy place with constant launches of new products, be it perfumes, jewellery or other accessories. If ever a mum needed a reason to visit Hyatt Plaza, we have just listed quite a few.

S h o p p i n g f o r b a b i e s & k i ds If kids aren’t happy, a shopping trip or a visit to the mall can be a disaster. Hyatt Plaza keeps this in mind and offers a selection of stores to attract your little ones. Starting with Mothercare that caters to kids from infancy till eight years old. They have clothes, baby toys, and accessories ranging from a feeding spoon to entire travel systems and bedroom furniture. Popular childhood characters are featured here on clothing and on accessories. Carter’s is another lovely store for kids. It has clothing for both boys and girls, from onesies and t-shirts with cute slogans, to smart shirts and pants and pretty dresses.

There are a couple of toy stores kids will love too. Kiddy Zone has a lovely range of toys from baby toys, to role-playing toys to action figures and dolls. They also have an ongoing promotion in which, for every QR300 spent you get back a voucher of QR50 to be redeemed on a later date. ELC or Early Learning Centre has a great selection of toys ranging from their own brand, to outdoor toys and educational ones to costumes for dressing up. So next time the family visits Hyatt Plaza, remember that not even the youngest member of your family is forgotten.

Shopping for teenagers Shopping with teenagers can be a nightmare. Of course, not if you choose the right destination. Very often they’d rather be off with their friends than actually go out with their families, but at Hyatt there is enough reason for teenagers to actually tag along with their family on a shopping trip. For girls there are shops that carry ranges of clothing for teenagers – Mr. Price is just one of many. The Body Shop and Inglot cater to their needs for make-up and bodycare products. While Claire’s provides a range of jewellery and other accessories to thrill the hearts of most teenage girls. For boys there are Mr. Price and Bossini with cool clothing for the teenager to whom appearances are so important.

There is also Saqr and Technical Care Centre that provides all sorts of electronic equipment and gaming systems to keep teenagers and the young at heart busy. Xbox, Playstation, Guitar Hero, and the list goes on. Saqr also has a fair range of original music DVDs as well.

Right through the year there are a number of different activities that aim to educate the public about different cultures, social responsibility etc but these activities also aim at entertaining people. Some of the activities include cultural festivals that celebrate the culture of particular countries and film festivals where internationally acclaimed films are shown on giant screens inside the mall.

Other activities include events like ‘Traffic Week’ when representatives of the Traffic Department engage customers and visitors of Hyatt in plays, games and activities designed to inform them of traffic regulations through a fun and lighthearted approach. Such events make Hyatt Plaza stand out among malls by offering the public not only shopping but also a chance to have fun and become more aware.

Family Fun Jungle Zone inside Hyatt Plaza provides year-round family fun with rides and activities for all ages. Parents can have their kids birthday parties there, making it a hassle free event for the family since everything is taken care of by the Jungle Zone management. Over and above this, there are other events that take place annually that allow families to drop in at Hyatt and enjoy themselves. Every year in March Hyatt Plaza celebrates its birthday with activities and events to entertain and thank customers for their loyalty. During Ramadan, Hyatt holds Iftar parties and charity events for customers to participate in, ending with the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr complete with magic shows, acrobatic performances, plays, games and competitions. To celebrate the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, Hyatt Plaza hosts a series of events designed to entertain customers and visitors during their Eid holidays.

Family Dining Hyatt Plaza offers a wide range of dining choices. Hyatt has restaurants to fit every mood and need. No time for a meal and you only have time to grab a coffee? Try Starbucks, combine it with a doughnut from Dunkin’ Donuts and you’ll be nice and full! Experience very casual carefree dining at the Hyatt Plaza food court. The food court has a number of booths to try out.

Johnny Rockets has just opened in the main body of the mall, away from the food court. The place offers you a complete American dining experience complete with the jukebox. For a slightly different style of dining, your family can experience the Afro-Portugese casual dining style of Nando’s. Nando’s also offers a family area upstairs, and you are transported there in a Nando’s dedicated elevator. In March, as part of its run up to summer, Nando’s is launching six new mocktails, with refreshing names that sound as delightful as their taste is sure to be; Citrus Bliss, Refresh Mint and Cinnacino Cool anyone?

To satisfy the sweet tooth in many, Hyatt Plaza also houses Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone which serve yummy ice creams to delight your taste buds and cool you down. For those of you who are health conscious there is Juice Zone located in the food court that serves fresh juices and healthy wraps. Juice Zone also serves Yo-good, an international brand of frozen yogurt with fresh fruit toppings, that is as healthy as it is delicious. So there is definitely something for every member of the family regardless of what each person is in the mood for.

Convenient Services Hyatt Plaza is about all the above things but it’s also about convenience. The many convenient services available at Hyatt Plaza makes your trip there more rounded. To start with it has Giant Stores, a big and attractive hypermarket, if you need to do your grocery shopping. Hyatt houses a branch of Commercial Bank with an ATM machine too, there is a Qtel office that enables easy payment of bills etc. Along with these conveniences there is a Tylos pharmacy and even a Fuji photo-printing service. For those in need of hair care there’s Cute Cut, a kids salon which is temporarily located inside Jungle Zone until their permanent location is refurbished, and there is the upmarket Kontar Salon for ladies. If you are shopping for gifts and you need them wrapped up beautifully there is also the little store aptly named Wrap It, which transforms simple gifts into elaborate works of art that one would not want to unwrap even to get the gift inside.

Chocolates You can't go wrong with chocolate! Chocolate always makes a great gift and it's believed to be good for one's health too.

Buono, the kiosk opposite Giant Stores, has some lovely chocolates with a variety of fillings. You can taste and choose the chocolates you want and have them packed beautifully for that special lady in your life. It's a gift that doesn't just look good but tastes great as well.

Hobbies and crafts There are always those mums who love a ‘project’ of some

mong all the bumper stickers we've come across on cars, here's one of our favorites.

"Let's save the earth. It's the only planet with chocolate!" Chocolate is one of the world's favourite foods and it's been around for over 3,000 years.

Believed to have originated in the Americas, South America to be exact, the Amazon to be even more exact, chocolate or cocoa had a whole host of uses. The Aztecs believed wisdom and power came from eating the fruit of the cocoa tree, and also that it had nourishing, fortifying, and even aphrodisiac qualities. Over thousands of years, the use of chocolate has evolved. Here's the best news! Doctors now say that over and above simply tasting good, chocolate has a number of health benefits. It lowers blood pressure, it lowers blood sugar, and also works as an anti-depressant because it contains serotonin which helps lift our mood.

So let's get cracking and bring out the chocolate which comes to us today in so many yummy forms. Since not all of us have the chance to be Willy Wonka for a day, how about giving this very chocolaty recipe try?

Deep-Dish Brownies from scratch with only eight ingredients 3/4 cup melted butter 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/2 cups white sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 eggs 3/4 cup all-purpose flour l l

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 8x8 inch square pan.

In a large bowl blend melted butter, sugar, and vanilla.

Beat in eggs, one at a time. In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually blend dry mixture into batter. When done, spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake 30 minutes or until brownies pull away from sides of pan. Cool and cut into squares.

All of the ingredients mentioned in this recipe can be found with ease at Giant Stores, so next time you walk through Hyatt Plaza make sure you include these items on your grocery list. Bake some scrumptious chocolate brownies for yourself and your family. Remember, chocolate doesn’t just taste great, it’s also good for you!!
