Belle and Mr. Morgan developed an extraordinary friendship and work relationship. Belle is able to procure for him many fine books and pieces of art. She is one of the first women to attend and represent Mr. Morgan at an auction. She decides to wear a dress that will make her stand out and be noticed. When it comes her time to bid on the piece that Mr. Morgan wants, she waves a red Asscarf.Belle wheels and deals with many high society people, business contacts, and especially one of Mr. Morgan's daughters, she learns how to handle herself as well as achieve the goals for which she is striving. Her constant fear and what she must always protect is the deep secret that she holds within herself. She knows that if the secret is ever revealed, the consequences for her family as well as herself would be dire. I highly recommend this book.
The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict & Victoria Christopher Murray I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Once I was past chapter 3, I didn’t want to stop reading.
Hope would like to recommend these titles:
Belle is in her early 20s when she is hired by J.P. Morgan as a curator for his library. Belle's father has instilled in her a love of fine art and literature. Belle knows that she must never let anyone find out that she is actually a young black woman.
“The Personal Librarian” is the story of a young black woman who can pass for white. Her mother, father, and all of the children are of lighter skin. The father is the first black graduate of Harvard and is fighting for the equality of black people with white people. The mother feels that she and her children will find more success if they pass for white. The difference in these opinions lead to a divorce of the mother and father.

Sherlock Holmes (Granada - TV series 1984-1994)
TV ON DVD (excerpt below from https://www.arthur-conan-doyle.com
) In 1981, producer Michael Cox, fervent admirer of Arthur Conan Doyle, suggested to Granada that the original Sherlock Holmes stories should be adapted to the television for the first time in color. Firmly set on being scrupulously true to Conan Doyle, Michael Cox built Holmes and Watson Baker Street in Manchester with the utmost care. To embody the enigmatic, brilliant and eccentric sleuth, Cox chose Jeremy Brett who, according to him, had everything the part needed : "the voice, the presence, the energy, the bearing of a gentleman and the classical training. For the Hamlet of crime," wrote Michael Cox in A Study in Celluloid, "you need an actor who has played Hamlet." Unfortunately, Granada and Jeremy Brett did not have time to complete the 62 Sherlock Holmes stories written by Conan Doyle. Only 41 of them have been filmed.

It's like nothing I have ever seen before; a true original. Everything everywhere all at once DVD– 2022 An aging Chinese immigrant is swept up in an insane adventure, where she alone can save the world by exploring other universes connecting with the lives she could have led.
"This satirical black comedy takes on the girl group from the iconic Archie Comics universe and is an eye opening journey into the world of the music industry. Originally a box office flop, the film has become a cult classic and its original soundtrack even went gold." name3songs.com
Julie, our Children Department would like to recommend these titles:
"In case you haven't watched Josie and the Pussycats recently, it's not really about the Pussycats but about a nefarious United States government colluding with the music industry and most major corporations to brainwash the youth of America and promote capitalist conformity. Like The Stepford Wives or Get Out, it's a (pseudo )horror film wherein, instead of a monster trying to destroy you, an evil societal plague wants you to join it." Glamor Magazine

JOSIE & The Pussycats DVD, 2001
The novel also does a great job at contrasting the aspects of the ideas we chase during youth, and the wisdow that some manage to achieve after years of experience and realization allow them to see things with a different perspective, a perspective that allow them to say “it’s going to be ok”.
Martin, would like to recommend this title: Sirens & Muses by Antonia Angress I truly enjoyed this debut novel by Ms. Angress. Trough its pages I immersed myself not only on the lives (and doings) of its four main characters but also into a not so far from reality portrait of the current affair of the contemporary art world, where more and more, real talent & hard work get undervalued more and more as our celebrity focused culture shifts constantly its own set of Withvalues.an incisive eye and without lack of social commentary, the rich prose of its pages illustrates very well the desires, contradictions, idealism and even the hypocrisy with which four artists at different stages in their life, this be it economically, amorously, and career wise, find themselves or try to actually find their place in this world (or their own world).
I would recommend this book to a 20 year old friend as well as a 50 years old one.
Rita would like to recommend this title: The novel, SeaofTranquility(2022) by Emily St. John Mandel, takes readers on an unusual journey involving time travel. The novel revolves around four main characters: Edwin, a young English man living in exile in the British Columbian wilderness in the early 20th century; Mirella, a woman living in New York City in the 21st century who is searching for a long-lost friend; Olive, who lives in the 23rd century on the second moon colony and has written a novel about a pandemic. While on Earth promoting her book, a real pandemic begins to devastate Earth’s population and threatens her return home; and finally, a stranger who somehow seems to have knowledge of a disorienting event the other three characters have experienced. With themes of love, loyalty, time travel, and the uncertainty of memories, SeaofTranquilityoffers readers much to contemplate. Emily St. John Mandel, the best selling author of StationElevenand TheGlassHotel, has written another gem. SeaofTranquilityis available through Monarch in regular print, large print, and audio formats and through Libby in digital book and audio formats.

A University of North Carolina graduate who focused her studies on journalism and English literature, Leah Konen combined the best of both of those efforts to emerge as a talented newer author of young adult novels, prior to taking the adult psychological thriller genre by storm with her debut work, 'All the Broken Peole'. 'The Perfect Escape' is her equally edgy, 2022 new release, second effort... 'The Perfect Escape' has been 100% aptly described as a "captivating, masterfully constructed thriller you'll consume in a breathless rush and then flip right back to the beginning to figure out how the author pulled it off"...without your ever knowing. New friends Sam, Margaret and Diana are at that point where life has knocked you down a few times and it is getting harder to step back up and meet the challenges needing to be faced. They have their friendship, though, and the inherent empathy it offers and that matters; sometimes it feels like it is all that does. In celebration of their sistership, bonded against life chaos, they are thrilled to be escaping the city for an exciting girl's weekend. Full of secrets and twists, and told from three wholly different perspectives, this fast-paced, edge of your seat thriller draws you in to the center of their lives, with and without each other, and the realization that they may not know one another as well as they think! Enjoy this wild rollercoaster ride of emotions best read late at night!
Sharyn would like to recommend this title: The Perfect Escape by Leah Konen
The perfect girl's weekend turns deadly in this addictive, twisty, absolutely unforgettable psychological thriller!
We Carry Their Bones: The Search for Justice at the Dozier School for Boys by Erin Kimmerle
Steven would like to recommend this title: Joan: A Novel by Katherine J. Chen
Joanby Katherine J. Chen is a historical fiction telling of the great Joan of Arc. Katherine does an amazing job taking the reader through Joan’s life, starting from the age of 10 all the way to capture by the English. Katherine does something no other writer has dared to do when telling Joan’s life story. Katherine introduces the reader to a Joan who is not afraid to speak her peace, even if that means speaking out against those in power, like royalty.
WeCarryTheirBones: TheSearchforJusticeattheDozier SchoolforBoys by Erin Kimmerle is the true account of Erin’s time leading a team of forensic scientists to uncover the horrifying truth of what really happened at Florida’s Dozier School for Boys during the schools 111 years of operation.
Erin herself is a forensic anthropologist, who was tasked in 2011 to lead a team to identify remains of 31 boys on the grounds of the recently shuttered Dozier school for boys in Florida’s panhandle. Erin goes in detail about finding nearly twice as many graves and how locals even tried to have her arrested by the local sheriff, just to stop her investigation. We CarryTheirBonesis not for the faint of heart and reveals the truth of the events behind Pulitzer Prize Winning novel The NickelBoys.
Katherine Chen has been praised for her previous works and Joan is just another example of how good her writing truly is. Steve Berry (New York Times bestselling author of TheKaiser’sWeb) has said “When you look up the term ‘historical fiction’ in the dictionary, it should say, simply, Read Katherine J. Chen.”
