Contact: Juan Carlos Flores Rodriguez, jcflores@andeanlodges.com The High Andean communities of Chillca and Osefina, together with the rural and community tourism company “Camino del Apu Ausangate”, have created a hiking route lodge-to-lodge, in the vicinity of Mount Ausangate, situated East of the city of Cusco. In partnership with the indigenous communities, this initiative offers a hiking experience at an altitude of over 4,800 m above sea level, with incredible landscapes, a great variety of flora and fauna, and the warmth of the communities’ inhabitants, which will turn your adventure in the Andes into an unforgettable experience. Accommodation is provided in the form of four comfortable mountain lodges, which are all operated by sustainable and environmentally-friendly means. Thanks to their contribution with labour, land value and the construction of one of the lodges, the communities of Chillca and Osefina now enjoy a business partnership, holding 20 % of the company’s shares. Benefits that are generated are used to improve their inhabitants’ education and livelihood.

For Giardino Tours, tourism means sustainability, a genuine Peruvian experience and sharing traditions and daily life with local people. This year, Giardino Tours has started a new hands-on experience: during your visit to the Colca Canyon a villager will take you to his home environment and you will spend half a day together; working the field, harvesting, feeding animals, preparing the lands, etc. This is a way of getting a little closer to the reality of life in the Colca Valley. You will be able to share and embrace the villagers’ daily lives by getting closer and supporting the family economy. Apart from visiting one of the world’s deepest canyons, delight in the condors flight, wonder on the wonderful terraces, mountains, South American camelids and breath-taking landscapes.
