The realization of carbon neutrality, bala n c i n g t h e a m o u n t o f g r e e n h o u s e gasses emitted and absorbed; the use of solar power, wind power and other r e n e w a b l e e n e r g i e s ; v a r i o u s e n e r g ysaving measures – starting with the g l o b a l m o v e m e n t t o c u r b c l i m a t e change, energy issues are moving forward at a bewildering speed. Today, with the advancement of digital transformation using AI, IoT, and other technologies energy, it is no exaggeration to say that a paradigm shift is underway regarding the resolution of energy and environmental problems

A technology called “energy harvesting” is newly attracting attention in the energy field. Harvesting is just that; it refers to a technology that “harvests” tiny amounts of energy from the surrounding environment and then converts it into electric power using voltage materials, modules, and sensors It is a l s o r e f e r r e d t o a s “ e n v i r o n m e n t a l power generation ” This technology has two main advantages The first is that it produces electric power from sunlight, v i b r a t i o n s ( f r o m r o a d s , b r i d g e s a n d train tracks) and other natural elements,

which provide environmentally friendly power sources The second is proximity to the energy source

For example, let’s say you want to install an IoT device to detect landslide disasters deep in the mountains and operate it continuously. It would be u n r e a l i s t i c t o i n s t a l l e l e c t r i c p o w e r cables and other wiring in that location Furthermore, accessibility, maintenance and costs would be an issue if y o u u s e d a b a t t e r y - b a s e d s o l u t i o n However, by using energy harvesting to capture energy from the surrounding environment, the device itself can p r o d u c e e l e c t r i c p o w e r i n p l a c e s where wiring is impractical, allowing for operation of an IoT device semipermanently.

What could be more important than the tires on your vehicle? Everything relies on that contact patch about the size of y o u r h a n d t o m a i n t a i n c o n t r o l .
