ETIQUETTE HOCKEY
While we score goals on the ice, our goal off the ice is to make sure all of #GensNation has the best game experience possible! We’ve made a list of some important reminders for all fans to keep in mind so that everyone’s night out is a special one.
1. WAIT FOR THE WHISTLE TO ENTER AND EXIT SEATING AREA
A lot can happen in a split second of hockey action – and we don’t want anyone to miss anything. Fans who move from their seat during play can block the view of an entire section of fans. Please wait until a whistle blows to make any move to and from your seats.
QUICK TIP - There will always be extended stoppages following the first whistle after the 14:00 & 6:00 minute marks of a period (unless there is an icing, goal, or the start of a power play – just listen for the buzzer!)
2. BE MINDFUL OF THOSE AROUND YOU
Trust us, we know the games will have you at the edge of your seat, but if you lean too far forward, you’ll block the view of those around you. There isn’t a bad seat in the building, so sit back and enjoy the game!
3. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PUCK
Things move quickly at our games, including flying sticks and pucks. Keep your eye on the puck at all times to avoid any potential injuries!
4. NON-SMOKING FACILITY
The Tribute Communities Centre is a non-smoking, no re-entry facility. Smoking of any kind, including e-cigarettes, on TCC property, is prohibited.
5. HOCKEY IS FOR EVERYONE
We don’t expect everyone to be best friends with the Petes’ fans – some things just don’t mix. But, we do think it’s pretty cool they’re coming to our building to enjoy the same great game we love. Please be aware of those sitting around you, including children and let the play on the ice do the talking. Abusive and inappropriate language will NOT be tolerated.
6. HAVE FUN
Get loud, cheer, and let your favourite team on the ice know you’re behind them – Afterall, hockey is the best sport out there.

AROUND THE OHL

BRANTFORD BULLDOGS EASTERN CONFERENCE
The Brantford Bulldogs are on a tear of late rattling off four straight wins as they now sit just four points off the division lead. Brantford has the best penalty kill in the East Division sitting at 81% right now. Not only can the bulldogs shut you down on the penalty kill, they have plenty of guys that can put it in the back of the net with the likes of Nick Lardis leading the way with 52 points including 29 goals and 23 assists.
NORTH BAY BATTALION
The North Bay Battalion are sitting in last place in the Central Division despite the fact that they are just one game below 500. Special teams have really hurt the Battalion this season as their powerplay has only clicked at 19.4% while their penalty kill is at 77.3%. Ethan Procyszyn has stepped up in a big way after the Troops traded away Dalyn Wakely and and injury to Anthony Romani, as the North Bay forward has picked up 32 points including 20 goals and 12 helpers.

WESTERN CONFERENCE ERIE OTTERS
SARNIA STING
The Erie Otters have really taken a step forward this season as the team sits third in a tough Midwest Division and are fourth in the Western conference. Erie has gotten strong play from some of their younger players this season and will look to carry some of this momentum into the second half. A big part of the team’s success has been the growth in play of Matthew Schaefer who has taken off this season.
The Sarnia Sting may have found a footing of late as the teams has grabbed points in four straight games including three wins. Carrying up the bottom of the league in powerplay percentage the Sting are firing at just 10.85 this season. On the other side of the puck things are not much better as Sarnia has given up the most goals in the league. One bright spot for the team has been rookie centre Beckham Edwards as the forward has picked up 19 points this season.

THE GENERALS’ MOST MEMORABLE PRESENTS

We caught up with the Generals’ to reminisce about their favourite holiday gifts and reflect on the magic of giving. Here’s what they had to say about the gifts that brought them the most joy, along with a few surprising answers!
A HOCKEY TRADITION
For many of the Gens, hockey has always been at the heart of their holiday memories. Jacob Oster fondly remembers unwrapping a Montreal Canadiens Winter Classic jersey, a timeless gift for any fan of the game. Others, like Ethan Toms, Lauri Sinivuori, Beckett Sennecke, and Colby Barlow, were thrilled by hockey sticks, symbolizing their love for the sport even as kids. “It was my first-ever composite stick,” Ethan shared, still clearly excited about it years later.
SURPRISING FAVOURITES
Not all gifts were big-ticket items. Tyler O’Toole said his favourite present was a classic holiday staple: socks. For him, practicality is king! Meanwhile, Luca Marelli shared a slightly different take, saying that escaping the frosty Canadian winters for a family vacation brought him the most joy during the holidays. Honestly, who wouldn’t trade snow for sunshine?
HIGH-TECH HIGHLIGHTS
Others look back on high-tech gifts that brought hours of fun. Owen Griffin treasures the year he received his PS4, while Shawn Costello and Isaac Gravelle both lit up reminiscing about their Xboxes. On the other hand, Lucas Rodriguez still cherishes his childhood memories of riding around in his ATV toy car.
FAMILY FIRST
While gifts can make the season magical, some players value the memories created around them even more. Zackary Sandhu keeps it simple, saying, “The best gift is being with family and the boys.”

PREVIEW GAME DAY

The Oshawa Generals return from the winter break to take on the Kingston Frontenacs as they battle it out for the top spot in the East Division.
Oshawa enters this one in first place in the East Division and second place in the Eastern Conference. It had been a little rocky before the break, but the Gens rattled off two wins in a row and will look to carry that momentum into the restart.
Kingston comes to the Tribute Communities Centre playing very up and down hockey going 4-3-1-2 over there last 10 games.
The Generals have controlled the season series so far this season going 4-1 against the Frontenacs. Last time out it was the Gens skating away with an 8-5 win over the Fronts on home ice.
After a back and forth first period the Gens pulled away in the second period scoring three goals in the second period as Beckett Sennecke completed his hat trick.
The third period was very similar to the first as both teams traded goals with Sennecke picking up his fourth goal and sixth point of the night.
RECAP LAST GAME
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20TH

The Oshawa Generals are at home to take on the Brantford Bulldogs for their last game before the Christmas break.
The two teams have met multiple times in the first half of the season, and the Bulldogs still lead in wins but were not successful tonight as the Generals won 6-2.
Generals Owen Griffin netted his 5th of the season and the first of the game early in the period. The Bulldogs shot back minutes later as Ben Radley scored his first in the OHL.
The rest of the period was quiet on both ends until the Bulldogs managed to increase their lead with a goal scored by Cole Brown, ending the first period 2-1.
Going into the second period, the Generals went to work and dominated against the Bulldogs. Five minutes in, Ethan Toms fired his 6th of the season and the tying goal.
Tyler Graham wasted no time, scoring his 4th, and finishing it with a big celebration. The Bulldogs were feeling the pressure as the game had been slipping away.
Generals Colby Barlow sniped two back-to-back goals in the Bulldogs net, bringing the lead to 5-2 by the end of the second.
The Generals hoped to keep their lead up in the third period and succeeded. As the third period went on, Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke sniped in his 23rd goal of the season and the final goal of the game.
The Generals closed out the first half of the season on a big win and will return after the break on December 29th to face the Kingston Frontenacs.
WARM-UP INITIATIVE
HOLIDAY JERSEY

The Generals will debut their December warm-up jerseys on the first of the month against the Kingston Frontenacs, at home. The holiday-themed jerseys are baby blue with three navy blue stripes on the arms and the names in white on the back and shoulders.
The winter-themed jersey has an image of a red scarf on the collar. It also features a snowflake pattern all over the jersey, getting the players and fans into the winter and holiday spirit.
Snowmen are also pictured on the jersey around the bottom, layered on top of a thick navy blue stripe. This further follows the winter theme of the jersey and resonates with the snowy winters we get in Oshawa and all over Ontario.
The socks match the jersey perfectly, displaying the same baby blue with a snow flake pattern and a thick navy blue strip through the middle of the sock.
Finally, the classic Generals logo has been revamped to a baby blue and white colour with a navy blue outline. The jerseys’ will be auctioned starting in January and proceeds will go to Feed the Need in Durham.
Feed the Need in Durham is a regional emergency food distribution centre that distributes over 2 million pounds of food annually.

LEADERSHIP

After last year’s Captain Stuart Rolofs graduated from the OHL, the spot was left vacant, and Ben Danford was named the 72nd captain of the Oshawa Generals. Beyond the naming of a new captain, there have been some other additions to the Gens leadership group, so let’s take a closer look at who will be donning the letter this season.
BEN DANFORD
Wearing the ‘C’ for the first time, Danford has been a rock at the back end for the Generals, doing the little things to help the team. Danford is in his third season with the Gens and was a first-round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
CALUM RITCHIE
Returning late to the Generals this season after playing seven games with the Colorado Avalanche, Ritchie will again be wearing an ‘A’ on his jersey. Back for his fourth season in the OHL, Ritchie has shown that he is a force and will be a key cog for the Generals this season.
LUKE
TORRANCE
The over-ager from Oshawa has been a familiar face in the Gens locker room, not afraid to help the team out in any role that might be needed. Torrance has spent his entire OHL career with the Gens currently playing in his fourth season with the team.
LUCA MARRELLI
A mobile defenceman for the Generals Marrelli was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the third round of last year’s draft. Marrelli has gotten off to a hot start this year leading the team in both goals and points.
The last member of the 2024/25 leadership group is Matthew Buckley. The forward is in his fourth season as a General and has carried his strong play from last season into this year.

REFLECTING ON THE GENERALS’ FIFTH MEMORIAL CUP

10 seasons ago, the Oshawa Generals won their fifth Memorial Cup. A team led by forward Michael Dal Colle, Cole Cassels and Tobias Lindberg finished 2nd in the regular season OHL standings behind the Soo Greyhounds. Just beneath the Generals in 3rd were Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters, who the Generals beat in their quest for the J. Ross Robertson Cup.
After beating the Otters in five games to clinch the OHL title, they went on to the Memorial Cup hosted by the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. The two other teams that won their respective leagues that year were the Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL) and Kelowna Rockets (WHL).
The Generals went a perfect 3-0 in the round-robin, securing all six points and advancing directly to the championship game, where they played the Kelowna Rockets. The Rockets team featured current super-star, highest-paid NHLer Leon Draisaitl, and all-star defenceman Josh Morrissey.
But Oshawa took care of business thanks to undrafted training camp invitee Anthony Cirelli. Cirelli netted both Generals’ goals in the 2-1 overtime win to clinch the Memorial Cup.
Goaltender Ken Appleby saved 37 of 38 shots on goal and made several big saves in the win, including a breakaway save on Leon Draisaitl.
Draisaitl led the tournament in points, but he could not get his team over the finish line. Tobias Lindberg and Michael Dal Colle led the Generals in points, each registering five.
Ten years later, the Generals have the firepower and are hungry for another.
With NHL first-round picks Calum Ritchie, Beckett Sennecke, Colby Barlow, and Ben Danford leading the way, the Generals are among the favourites to win the J. Ross Robertson Cup. If they make the OHL finals, they will likely play the London Knights again, a favourite in the Western Conference, who they lost to just last season.
With the 2024 playoff run behind them and most of the Generals’ veterans returning, they are primed for a long playoff run and, hopefully, a trip to the 2025 Memorial Cup in Rimouski.
