FROM OUR FRONT OFFICE to our fans Dear Generals fans, as we embark on yet another year of hockey, I’m excited for the outlook of our hockey club. This year, the expectations are higher as we continue our search for yet another championship. This season, we welcome many new and exciting young players along with many returnees, all coming together to make this year very promising. I wanted to thank all of our loyal fans for all their continued support and I look forward to seeing everyone around the rink soon!
Rocco Tullio President
I want to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to the 2023-2024 Oshawa Generals and the return of OHL hockey after a long summer. This season will be one of the most competitive campaigns we have had in several years. The Eastern Conference will be a dog fight, night in and night out. Facing the Ottawa 67’s in the first-round last season, showed us how much the game changes when the playoffs arrive. You must bring it every night. Nothing is given and everything will be earned. Make no mistake, there are no playoffs if you don’t take care of the regular season. With Derek Laxdal and his staff returning for there second season, they will be more comfortable in this environment and understand with your tremendous support comes expectations. The players playing under them for the second year should have no surprises on the demands and expectations on them. Our scouts have done another tremendous job in identifying talent for us and none more impressive then our 2023 first rounder, Owen Griffin who has begun to earn his way into the hearts of Gens fans, team mates and coaches for years to come. Our past is certainly something that all our supporters and everyone in our organization is very proud of. This season our entire focus right now is on the present. We want to have the best team possible to challenge for silverware again. Anything but your best won’t be good enough to make you a member of this Oshawa General’s was the message from training camp to now. This message remains the same. GO GENS GO !!!!!!

Vice President & General Manager
hockey ETIQUETTE While we score goals on the ice, our goal off the ice is to make sure all of #GensNation has the best game experience possible! We’ve made a list of some important reminders for all fans to keep in mind so that everyone’s night out is a special one.
1. WAIT FOR THE WHISTLE TO ENTER AND EXIT SEATING AREA
A lot can happen in a split second of hockey action – and we don’t want anyone to miss anything. Fans who move from their seat during play can block the view of an entire section of fans. Please wait until a whistle blows to make any move to and from your seats. QUICK TIP - There will always be extended stoppages following the first whistle after the 14:00 & 6:00 minute marks of a period (unless there is an icing, goal, or the start of a power play – just listen for the buzzer!)
2. BE MINDFUL OF THOSE AROUND YOU
Trust us, we know the games will have you at the edge of your seat, but if you lean too far forward, you’ll block the view of those around you. There isn’t a bad seat in the building, so sit back and enjoy the game!
3. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PUCK
Things move quickly at our games, including flying sticks and pucks. Keep your eye on the puck at all times to avoid any potential injuries!
4. NON-SMOKING FACILITY
The Tribute Communities Centre is a non-smoking, no re-entry facility. Smoking of any kind, including e-cigarettes, on TCC property, is prohibited.
5. HOCKEY IS FOR EVERYONE
We don’t expect everyone to be best friends with the Petes’ fans – some things just don’t mix. But, we do think it’s pretty cool they’re coming to our building to enjoy the same great game we love. Please be aware of those sitting around you, including children and let the play on the ice do the talking. Abusive and inappropriate language will NOT be tolerated.
6. HAVE FUN
Get loud, cheer, and let your favourite team on the ice know you’re behind them – Afterall, hockey is the best sport out there.

KINGSTON FRONTENACS - EASTERN DIVISION Sitting comfortably in fourth place in the eastern standings, Kingston holds 43 points, seven behind Ottawa and six ahead of Peterborough. The week ahead is a busy one at the Frontenacs home turf, the Leon’s Centre. The team will gear up to face the Generals this Friday and the Petes on Sunday. On Friday, they will be hosting their “Women in Sports Night,” dedicated to celebrating and honouring the extraordinary achievements of local female athletes who have left an indelible mark on the Kingston community. Their faceoffs this weekend will be vital, as they’re trying to grab those tougher points against Oshawa and keep the power over Peterborough. PHOTO BY: JAN MURPHY
NORTH BAY BATTALION - CENTRAL DIVISION With 54 points, North Bay sits just one single point behind that top spot in the Central Divison, being held by Sudbury. After a doubleheader against the Wolves on Jan. 25th and 26th, the Battalion got the short end of the stick twice in a row, with both games going to the extra overtime frame and resulting in 5-4 losses. North Bay did push Sudbury into a shootout the second time around but still fell short by one. One player in the spotlight this season has been Battalion’s winger Anthony Romani, racking up an OHL-leading total of 73 points in 46 games so far. PHOTO BY: SEAN RYAN
SOO GREYHOUNDS - MIDWEST DIVISION The Soo Greyhounds have been riding a five-game high, with wins under their belt outscoring their opponents 28-7. Tied for first place, the Hounds (31-12-2-1) and Spirit (32-12-0-1) are set to square off on Wednesday in a 7:05 p.m. start at the Dow Event Center. While both clubs have 65 points, Saginaw has a game in hand. So far, the clubs have met five times with the road team winning all five. If Soo grabs this victory, then they will take the lead over Saginaw in the standings and be that much closer to first place in their conference and overall. PHOTO BY: SOO GREYHOUNDS
GUELPH STORM WEST DIVISION Guelph is riding eighth place right now overall at 53 points, just one ahead of Oshawa and one behind North Bay. Depending on how they perform this weekend, that could change quickly and go one in two directions. Erie, Kitchener, and London are the opponents that the Storm will face this week, which gives them the possibility to either grab some victories or be disappointed. Coming off of their 7-1 downfall to Owen Sound, the Storm are going to be looking for that confidence boost going into their matchups. PHOTO BY: GAR FITZGERALD

game day PREVIEW The Oshawa Generals continue their home stand as they take on the Kinston Frontencs on a rare Tuesday home game. The Generals have claimed the top spot in the East Division after knocking off the Brantford Bulldogs 8-3 Sunday evening. Oshawa has scored five or more goals in five of their last six home games and are looking to keep that offence clicking. Kingston enters this game one game below 500 and are 4-6-0-0 in their last 10 games. Kingston has played three East Division opponents in a row falling to the Bulldogs and the Gens, but they did pick up a win beating the Peterborough Petes.
Last Meeting: It has not been long since these two teams last faced off as it was the Generals taking down the Frontenacs in Kingston last Friday. After jumping out to an early 1-0 lead through a nice passing play that was finished off by Calum Ritchie, the Frontenacs would storm back scoring a pair of goals to leap in front 2-1. A pair of Oshawa goals in the second period from Rasmus Kumpulainen and Luke Torrance the Generals found themselves up 3-2 entering the third. Tyler Graham would find the net giving the Gens a two-goal cushion, but it was Kingston slashing that lead in half before Matthew Buckley found the empty net putting the game to rest at 5-3.

last game RECAP SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4
The Oshawa Generals took down the Brantford Bulldogs 8-3 as they move into first place in the East Division. A pair of goals from each of Stuart Rolofs and Matthew Buckley propelled the team to a win as the Gens captain extended his point streak to 14 games. Jacob Oster made 15 saves on 18 shots on the way to victory. The Gens got things going early in the first when Beckett Sennecke gained the zone making a little move before firing one past the Bulldogs goalie giving Oshawa a 1-0 lead. That lead would grow a little later in the first when Owen GriffIn got the puck behind the Brantford net making a nice pass to Tyler Graham who shot the puck into the empty mesh making it 2-0 Gens. With six seconds to go in the period, Oshawa would add another as it was Ben Danford making a beautiful pass to Rolofs who tapped the puck in making it 3-0 Generals. Less than one minute into the second period the Gens would strike again when Buckley hammered a one-timer past Matteo Drobac straight from a faceoff giving Oshawa a 4-0 lead. Later in the frame, it was Buckley striking again as the winger was sprung on a breakaway making a move to the backhand flipping it up and over Drobac and it was the last shot he would face as the Gens lead grew to 5-0. It took less than 15 seconds for Oshawa to add another and it was the captain Rolofs picking up his second of the game taking a pass from Rasmus Kumpulainen before beating David Egorov on the first shot he would see making it 6-0 Generals. Two minutes into the third, Oshawa kept things going as Sennecke made a nice pass to find Luca D’Amato streaking in and the defenceman made no mistake finding the back of the net making it 7-0. The Bulldogs would get on the board 22 seconds later as Patrick Thomas took a pass from Calvin Crombie beating Oster ending the shutout bid and cutting the Gens lead to 7-1. Oshawa would answer later in the third on a powerplay as Sennecke made a nice move spinning to his backhand finding Luke Torrance on the doorstep to make it 8-1 Generals. Brantford would get another one back when Marek Vanacker made a nifty move cutting through the Oshawa defence before finding the back of the net making it 8-2 Gens. The Bulldogs would strike again later in the third as it was Zakary Lavoie taking a pass from Tomáš Hamara before shooting it past Oster for an 8-3 Oshawa lead.

Giving back has always been important to my family and me. Starting The John Tavares Foundation was something we talked about for a long time, and is something I’m incredibly proud of. The foundation is centered on coming together to ensure the next generation has access to healthy foods, an understanding of the benefits of movement and increased availability of mental health resources. IN MEMORIAM On July 30th, the entire Oshawa Generals organization and family was devastated with the news of the passing of long-time scout Michael ‘Craiger’ Craig. Michael unfortunately lost his battle with a rare form of colorectal cancer. Craiger, as he was known around the rink, was a scout with the Generals’ organization for Eastern Ontario for more than 15 years. He scouted players such as Will Petschenig, Daniel Altshuller, Serron Noel, William Ennis, and current General Matthew Buckley – just to name a few. Michael was also a part of the 2014-2015 Memorial Cup Championship run. Throughout his career on and off the ice, Michael selflessly helped and assisted so many students, Special Olympic athletes, OHL and minor hockey players – touching and enriching countless lives.
MIKE CRAIG 1976-2023
The entire Oshawa Generals organization continues to send their love to entire Craig family, his students, and all of the players who he crossed paths with.
TRADE DEADLINE
recap
It was an active trade deadline for the Oshawa Generals as the team made key acquisitions while sending a long-time player out. As the Gens shape up to make a push in the Eastern Conference, they were not afraid to add to a roster that was showing potential in the first half. Oshawa made a pair of trades at this year’s trade deadline, the first was bringing in over-age defenceman Connor Punnett for Thomas Stewart and a pair of draft picks, and the second was the addition of Zackary Sandhu another defenceman for three picks.
Coming In: Connor Punnett: An over-age defenceman acquired from the Barrie Colts Punnett is a punishing presence at the back end not afraid to throw a big hit. Despite the intimidation factor, the defenceman is good with the puck picking up 36 points so far this season including six goals and 30 assists. Punnett spent parts of four seasons with the Colts after being traded from the Saginaw Spirit, he played 190 games for Barrie eventually dawning the C on his jersey. Zackary Sandhu: In his third Ontario Hockey League season the defenceman the mobile defenceman was picked up from the Guelph Storm. Sandhu brings a calmness to the back end solid at making a crucial first pass and is good at separating on rushing opponents from the puck. The defenceman has set a career-best in all offensive stats with three goals and five assists for eight points on the year and will look to add to this total.
Going Out: Thomas Stewart: After being drafted by the Barrie Colts the defenceman spent three seasons with the Generals becoming a fan favourite, he was traded back to the Barrie Colts. Playing 155 games a Gen the smooth-skating defenceman was a veteran presence at the backend bringing sure-handed passing and a cool head. Picks: Oshawa dealt away five picks at this year’s trade deadline. The two picks that the Gens moved in the move for Punnett were the Soo Greyhounds’ third-round pick in 2025 and the Peterborough Petes’ sixth-round pick in 2027. The Generals traded three picks away to bring in Sandhu those were the Mississauga Steelheads’ third-round pick in 2025, the Oshawa Generals’ fifth-round pick in 2026, and the Gens’ ninth-round pick in 2027.
