While we score goals on the ice, our goal off the ice is to make sure all of #GensNation has the best game experience possible! We’ve made a list of some important reminders for all fans to keep in mind so that everyone’s night out is a special one.
1. WAIT FOR THE WHISTLE TO ENTER AND EXIT SEATING AREA
A lot can happen in a split second of hockey action – and we don’t want anyone to miss anything. Fans who move from their seat during play can block the view of an entire section of fans. Please wait until a whistle blows to make any move to and from your seats.
QUICK TIP - There will always be extended stoppages following the first whistle after the 14:00 & 6:00 minute marks of a period (unless there is an icing, goal, or the start of a power play – just listen for the buzzer!)
2. BE MINDFUL OF THOSE AROUND YOU
Trust us, we know the games will have you at the edge of your seat, but if you lean too far forward, you’ll block the view of those around you. There isn’t a bad seat in the building, so sit back and enjoy the game!
3. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PUCK
Things move quickly at our games, including flying sticks and pucks. Keep your eye on the puck at all times to avoid any potential injuries!
4. NON-SMOKING FACILITY
The Tribute Communities Centre is a non-smoking, no re-entry facility. Smoking of any kind, including e-cigarettes, on TCC property, is prohibited.
5. HOCKEY IS FOR EVERYONE
We don’t expect everyone to be best friends with the Petes’ fans – some things just don’t mix. But, we do think it’s pretty cool they’re coming to our building to enjoy the same great game we love. Please be aware of those sitting around you, including children and let the play on the ice do the talking. Abusive and inappropriate language will NOT be tolerated.

AROUND THE OHL PRESEASON

Spending most of the back half of October on the road, the Frontenacs have been a little down on their luck in extra time this season. So far, they have lost all four overtime games, including a three-game losing streak against Erie, Brantford, and Niagara. So far, their offence has surged in production, with Jacob Battaglia at 20 points, a team-leading 10 goals, and a fourth-best 10 assists. The current leader in assists is Quinton Burns, who has 13. Nolan Lalonde has been steady in the net so far for the Frontenacs, with a 2.67 goals against average and a .903 save percentage, which makes him the eighth-best goaltender in the OHL behind Barrie’s Sam Hillebrandt.
BARRIE COLTS
CENTRAL DIVISION
Barrie has only gone to an extra frame once this season, winning 4-3 against Owen Sound in a shootout. Barrie has been a tough team to beat this year as they sit second in the Central Division. They went 7-3 in the month of October, including a three-game win streak against Brampton, Owen Sound, and Ottawa. Brad Gardiner currently leads the Colts with 13 points, although Bode Stewart is only three points behind him. Dalyn Wakely, who was acquired on October 10th, has nine points through seven games thus far. Barrie starts November on the road, facing the division-leading Niagara before heading to Erie. Then, they have a home-and-home against Sudbury.

AROUND THE OHL PRESEASON

WESTERN CONFERENCE
GUELPH STORM
MIDWEST DIVISION
Coming off a 10-1 loss to the Brampton Steelheads, Guelph has started off the year in a bit of a rough spot. The Storm are currently in last place in the Midwest Division, two points below the Owen Sound Attack. The 10-1 loss to Brantford on October 27th is the third straight loss by five or more, after losing 7-2 to Flint and then 6-1 to Barrie. Currently, Cam Allen leads the team in points with eight, and Jake Karabela leads the team in goals with four. Their goaltending has struggled this year, as Brayden Gillespie has recorded a 4.00 goals against average and a 0.874 save percentage. They start off November on the road in Ottawa, Kingston, and Brantford before a four-game homestand against Erie, London, and Niagara.
SOO GREYHOUNDS
WEST DIVISION
Currently sitting fourth in the West Division, one of the highlights of the Greyhounds’ season is goaltender Charlie Schenkel, who is fifth in the league in statistics. Schenkel has a 2.44 goals against average and a 0.926 save percentage this season. Currently, Brady Martin leads the team in points with 12, although Travis Hayes and Justin Cloutier are not far behind with 10 points each. Currently, Travis Hayes leads the team in goals with six. The Greyhounds have one more game to play in October before opening up the month against London and Flint.

OCTOBER RECAP GENERALS

The Oshawa Generals had a busy opening month to the season. Starting the season with missing pieces, acquiring new ones, hot and cold streaks, and many milestones featured an action-packed October.
The Generals got off to a good start, winning their first game of the season against the Kingston Frontenacs. Following their win, they dropped their next two games. Oshawa would then get some help from the reinstatement of Ben Danford from the Toronto Maple Leafs training camp.
Upon Danford’s return, the Generals named their leadership group for the season, with Danford leading the charge as Captain. Calum Ritchie, Luke Torrance, Matthew Buckley, and Luca Marrelli were all named alternate captains.
Oshawa continued to bolster their lineup by acquiring Owen Sound Attack’s 40-goal scorer, Colby Barlow. With the addition of Barlow and Danford back to the squad, things were looking up for the Generals. But they needed help finding their game with so many moving pieces.
Debuting on September 29th, the Gens wore their first featured warm-up jerseys of the year. The October warm-up jersey was an ode to the Indigenous Community and National Truth and Reconciliation Day.
Looking back to October 4th, the team lost both games that weekend on home ice despite the return of Beckett Sennecke from Anaheim Ducks training camp on October 6th. That weekend, rookies Brady Smith and Lauri Sinivuori secured their first OHL career goals.
The following weekend, Tyler O’Toole scored his first career OHL goal, and goaltender Isaac Gravelle notched his first OHL win against the Sarnia Sting. That got the Generals back in the win column after losing four in a row.
They would lose two more before getting the season back on track with back-to-back wins over their rivals, Peterborough Petes. The second of the two wins was their first on home ice this season.
The Generals followed up the performance with a dominant 5-3 win over the 2024 Memorial Cup Champions Saginaw Spirit. Colby Barlow got the monkey off his back and scored his first in a General’s uniform.
Oshawa finished the month winning two of the last three in dominant fashion and getting Calum Ritchie back from the Colorado Avalanche after he played seven regular season games in the NHL. Ritchie had two assists in the 7-2 win over Kingston. That game also saw rookie forward Brooks Rogowski pot his first OHL goal.
In their last game of October, they followed up their seven-goal performance with another seven goals at home on Steve Dangle Night against the Peterborough Petes. Sennecke recorded a hat trick and Barlow scored two goals in the 7-5 win.
The Generals sit second in the Eastern Conference with a 7-6-1 record to end October.
Luca Marrelli is tied for 9th in the OHL in points with 17. He leads the Generals, followed by Beckett Sennecke and Luke Torrance with 14.
Oshawa kicks November off with a game on the 1st against the Sarnia Sting for their annual Country Night as they look only to move up with what they have started thus far.

PREVIEW GAME DAY

The Oshawa Generals close out the weekend when they take on the Brantford Bulldogs.
Oshawa is riding a three-game win streak including a 5-2 win on country night against the Sarnia Sting. The Generals are second in the East Division and have seven wins in their last ten games.
Brantford have dropped three of their last four games and six of their last seven games have been decided by one goal. The Bulldogs are three points behind the Generals but they do have two games in hand.
This is the second meeting these two teams have had this year, and it was all Bulldogs as they won 6-2.
After Matthew Buckley got things started scoring his first of the season the Bulldogs rattled off four in a row carrying a 4-1 lead in to the third period.
Oshawa would cut the lead to two when Luca Marrelli found the back of the net, but it was all Brantford as they would add a pair of goals to make it 6-2.
RECAP LAST GAME
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST

The Oshawa Generals take down the Sarnia Sting 5-2 as they celebrate Country Night with a win.
Three Gens had multi-point games, including Luca Marrelli, who had a goal and an assist in the win while picking up the first star. Jacob Oster was in net stopping 17 of the 19 shots he faced.
Oshawa got the party started in the first on a powerplay as they worked the puck to Beckett Sennecke who made no mistake burying a shot making it 1-0 Gens.
Less than two minutes later Oshawa added another when Matthew Buckley took a pass from Brady Smith and the winger tucked it in to make it 2-0 Generals.
The Gens were not done there adding a third first-period goal as Smith once again set the play up finding Marrelli and the defenceman skated around a Sarnia defender before finding the back of the net.
Sarnia would get one back before the end of the period as Wainwright got the puck and was able to beat Oster cutting the score to 3-1 Oshawa.
To start the second period, the Sting would again cut the lead as they scored, but the whistle didn’t go. In the ensuing play, Oshawa would skate the length of the ice, finding the back of the net, but it did not count as they went back to the Sarnia goal, making 3-2 Gens.
Halfway through the third Oshawa got one back as Colby Barlow hammered a one-timer into the back of the net making it 4-2 Gens and a Zack Sandhu Empty netter made it 5-2.
WARM-UP INITIATIVE
MILITARY JERSEY

We’re excited to reveal our November warm-up jersey, continuing our monthly initiatives. Starting on November 1st against the Sarnia Sting, the Generals will be wearing military-themed jerseys for the first three games of the month.
The jersey is a thank you to those who have served our country and helped to keep it safe over the years. The military defends our interests and values while contributing to international peace and security in Canada. We owe them an infinite number of “thank yous”.
Our military-themed jersey features a poppy on both shoulders, stripes on the sleeves that also signify the poppy and a Wounded Warriors patch on the front left of the jersey.
The poppy has been a symbol of remembrance for over 100 years. It became a symbol after World War I due to the land that was fought on being a place where poppies grow. Lieutenant Colonel John McRae wrote A poem called “In Flanders Fields” during the First World War; he was “inspired by the sight of poppies growing in battle-scarred fields”. This poem is still read in many Remembrance Day ceremonies nationwide every year.
People all across Canada wear a poppy leading up to Remembrance Day to signify their support for the service of our armed forces, veterans, and families. We will wear the poppy on our shoulders for November.
The Wounded Warriors are a national mental health service dedicated to serving those who deal with trauma. They serve the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans, and many other first responders around Canada. Donations for this month’s jersey will support Wounded Warriors in their efforts to serve Trauma Exposed Professionals (TExP).
These jerseys will be live for auction on DASH November 1st and worn for three warm-ups until our Remembrance Night game against the Rangers on November 10th. The jersey auction will close on Nov. 11th from 6-8 p.m.
LEADERSHIP

After last year’s Captain Stuart Rolofs graduated from the OHL, the spot was left vacant, and Ben Danford was named the 72nd captain of the Oshawa Generals. Beyond the naming of a new captain, there have been some other additions to the Gens leadership group, so let’s take a closer look at who will be donning the letter this season.
BEN DANFORD
Wearing the ‘C’ for the first time, Danford has been a rock at the back end for the Generals, doing the little things to help the team. Danford is in his third season with the Gens and was a first-round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
CALUM RITCHIE
Returning late to the Generals this season after playing seven games with the Colorado Avalanche, Ritchie will again be wearing an ‘A’ on his jersey. Back for his fourth season in the OHL, Ritchie has shown that he is a force and will be a key cog for the Generals this season.
LUKE
TORRANCE
The over-ager from Oshawa has been a familiar face in the Gens locker room, not afraid to help the team out in any role that might be needed. Torrance has spent his entire OHL career with the Gens currently playing in his fourth season with the team.
LUCA MARRELLI
A mobile defenceman for the Generals Marrelli was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the third round of last year’s draft. Marrelli has gotten off to a hot start this year leading the team in both goals and points.
The last member of the 2024/25 leadership group is Matthew Buckley. The forward is in his fourth season as a General and has carried his strong play from last season into this year.

OSTER’S STEADY START

Jacob Oster has been a steady force in the Generals’ net this season after an incredible 2023-24 campaign in which he won OHL Goaltender of the Year. He played 60 games, posting a record of 35-16-7, with a .905 SV% and 2.82 GAA.
So far this season, he has matched the SV %, but his GAA overage has risen to 3.10. But that is nothing to worry about. Oster has looked comfortable in his net and has faced the third most shots in the OHL this season. Once the Generals clean up their defensive zone play, Oster’s numbers will move toward last season.
Fans should get used to Oster in the net, as he will start a hefty amount of games for the Generals this year. He has already played 11 of the first 14 games, and with Noah Bender being traded to Flint, Oster and Isaac Gravelle are left as the tandem for the Generals.
The netminder is in his final OHL season and is the backbone of a team with OHL cup aspirations after losing to the London Knights in the finals last season. He is the cousin of Florida Panther Matthew Tkachuk, who dealt with similar adversity in his NHL career.
Tkachuk reached the Stanley Cup finals in 2023 before being swept by the Vegas Golden Knights, similar to the Generals and Oster last season. The Panthers returned to the final the following season (2024), taking down the Edmonton Oilers in seven games. Perhaps Tkachuk shared some advice that could help Oster and the Generals in their quest for the J. Ross Robertson Cup.
“Matthew has mentioned before that the most important part of hockey is always having fun. Whatever you find most enjoyable about the game, continuously do it. You play your best, and you’re most effective when you are having fun, which is something he taught me at a young age,” says Oster.
Catch Oster in action the rest of the season at the Tribute Communities Centre as he spends his overage year with a Generals logo on his chest and a hunger to finish what he started.
