This year’s Governor’s project highlights the importance of building supportive and encouraging communities across the district. By uplifting our peers and even the many strangers we see around us daily, we can see an increase in morale and mental health. We hope to encourage T-O to serve their communities and increase the positivity within their schools.

want extra hours?
If you need extra hours, a good way is to write articles! You don’t have travel anywhere; you can write it on the go or from the comfort of your own home. A regular article is worth 1 hour, and a HOTO article is worth 2.
Write a 300-400 word essay about anything Key Club related. If you’re out of ideas, visit the T-O website at tokeyclub.com to look at the prompts for this month. You can also find the rubric on there.
Articles go towards our Key Club’s points, so they are greatly appreciated! Yours even has the chance of being featured on this newsletter or the Tex-O-Key newsletter.
Happy writing!

Gifts from the Heart
Written by Bryant Le
Gifts are something special, something that represents your relationship with someone. When I buy a gift for someone, I try my best to get what reminds me of them. When they receive my gift, they are reminded of what we mean to one another. You can show how much you care, but it can also be something funny that can make the other person feel better. Whether it’s an inside joke or something that the other person might find funny, gifts are an amazing way to show your efforts and how much you care about the other person.
But gifts don’t necessarily mean you have to buy them. You can give your time or talent. For example, I volunteer at Allies in Youth Development every Sunday. This past Sunday, we were packing angel bags and checking if each bag had everything that a specific child asked for. Although it may seem like it doesn’t mean much, to them it was everything they asked for, and to me, it only took about five minutes per bag to check if each item was in there. Providing my time and service could be life-changing to them, and in my perspective, that’s the best gift you could ever give.
You can also give through your talents. For instance, I like to go around my neighborhood and play music carols on my oboe, supplying beautiful Christmas music for everyone to enjoy. They get a free concert while I get good practice on my instrument.
Another activity I do is drawing on my iPad. Each year, I like to make digital cards that I send out to my family and friends. My best friends Stephanie and Tiffany look forward to these cards annually, and it’s so heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces.
Gift-giving is my favorite thing to do, especially this time of year, and it can be in all types of forms. However, it comes from one place—your heart—and that’s the magic of gifts.

LEDCON stands for Leadership Education District Conference. An annual Key Club conference held by the district board, LEDCON has a new theme each year; this year’s theme is Service
Under the Sun! The biggest parts of the conference include elections for staff positions, speakers, forums, contests, award presentations, and games! Essentially, we’re reflecting and celebrating the past Key Club year while gearing up for the next one. It’s an exciting and enriching experience.
