This year’s Governor’s project highlights the importance of building supportive and encouraging communities across the district. By uplifting our peers and even the many strangers we see around us daily, we can see an increase in morale and mental health. We hope to encourage T-O to serve their communities and increase the positivity within their schools.
This project is dedicated to serving the educational institutions that help build and create the next generation of leaders.
From teachers to students, there is an opportunity to help at every level. The T-O District looks forward to making an impact on our communities through this project.
This also includes custodial staff, bus drivers, etc!

In an increasingly globalized and industrial world, climate change runs rampant and threatens all current and future generations. Therefore, change has to be enacted now. Keeping the Earth healthy and green for years to come is the utmost priority. So how do we do this?
If you need extra hours, a good way is to write articles! You don’t have travel anywhere; you can write it on the go or from the comfort of your own home. A regular article is worth 1 hour, and a HOTO article is worth 2.
Write a 300-400 word essay about anything Key Club related. If you’re out of ideas, visit the T-O website at tokeyclub.com to look at the prompts for this month. You can also find the rubric on there.
Articles go towards our Key Club’s points, so they are greatly appreciated! Yours even has the chance of being featured on this newsletter or the Tex-O-Key newsletter.
Happy writing!
By far, Key Club is one of the most memorable extracurriculars I’ve ever been in. It’s amazing that Key Club can house so many communities and be the catalyst for great change in the world, but those aren’t the only reasons it’s so extraordinary. Another reason why Key Club can have high membership retention? It’s fun!
One of my favorite experiences I’ve had this year is a close race between the Kiwanis Annual Golf Tournament or the Water Balloon Blast. By far though, beating the heat with water balloons trumps standing in direct sunlight for
several hours straight. As much as I enjoyed meeting all the new people in Key Club and interacting with schools districtwide, raising money for a good cause with the people I care about most was more enjoyable.
We started off with president Caia, the Legacy co-president Eva, and V.P Bryant coming with buckets full of water balloons. Our sponsor, Dr. Berwise, and advisor, Corey Neiman, brought snacks shortly after, and soon enough, we had business!
A girl named Abby stopped by and purchased 50 water balloons. She said that she had no use for them herself and asked we pass them to any passing children. I can still see and hear the giddy smiles and giggles as we gave out water balloons. Through multiple donations of passersby and some contributions of our own officers, we raised over $100 in the span of less than two hours.
However, we had two buckets of unpopped water balloons left. There was only one answer: have a water balloon fight! In under 10 minutes, I had managed to take a shower in broad daylight. Everyone was completely soaked, but no one was upset about it. We were all grins and laughter.
There’s been many service events that I’ve had the pleasure of participating in this year, but the Water Balloon Blast has a special place in my heart. The people just made my day spectacular.
