All the cinematography of director João Nicolau will be shown at the Bergamo Film Meeting, that will take place between May 23 to 31, in Italy. The Bergamo Film Meeting will screen all the films of the Portuguese director João Nicolau, in the context of the program "Europe, Now!", which is aimed at the exploration of contemporary European cinema, giving attention to films that deal with issues related to the "agitation of individuals" and social and political issues. Besides the focus on João Nicolau’s films, the festival will also display the films of Rúnar Rúnarsson (Iceland) and Danis Tanović (Bosnia and Herzegovina). "Europe, Now!" intends to be a networking platform dedicated to the opportunities that European festivals, markets, training programs and funding offer to young directors and producers. João Nicolau was born in Lisbon and works as a director, editor, actor and musician. As an editor he worked with João César Monteiro, Margarida Gil, Alessandro Comodin and Miguel Gomes. Among his films to be exhibited are "Wild Haggis" (2013), "The Gift Of Tears" (2012), "Song Of Love And Health" (2009) and "Bird Of Prey" (2006), produced by O Som e a Fúria and with promotion and distribution by Agência – Portuguese Short Film Agency. He also directed the documentary "Calado Não Dá" (1999) and the feature films "A Espada e A Rosa" (2010) and "John From" (2015). His last film "Technoboss" (2019) had its premiere at Locarno Film Festival and received the "Grand Jury Award" at Seville Film Festival.
