ANECDOTE Two weeks ago we were on the "Portal Americas" wating for our bus, that day the system was a chaos, buses were arriving every 15 minutes so we were all stressed, but then something happened, a young woman who was behind us got into a fight with a lady who did not follow the line correctly, they exchange insults and then they hit each other, then the bus finally arrived so we left, it was funny but also we kept thinking about how they were fighting because of the line but none of them could get on the bus

COMMERCE STATISTICS NUMBERS It is possible to see the increasing of a 4,9% in the quantity of companies and commerce establishments registered, the number went from 728.784 productive units to 764.639. From that figure 487.148 are natural and legal people, and 277.491 commerce establishments.


INFORMAL COMMERCE In 2018 the Chamber of Commerce in Bogota made a research to identify the informality in Bogota’s commerce. The results generated around 4.990 informal business in the localities of Antonio Nariño, Kennedy, Bosa and Ciudad Bolivar.

Characteristics: ● ●

In these places you can find low-price products. The quality can be lower than products in formal commerce. You can not verify the authenticity of the brands.


The places in Bogota where most of the informal commercial actions take place are: The downtown: It includes the historical center, the international center of Bogota and Seventh career between twelfth street and nineteenth avenue. To get there you can use SITP or Transmilenio depending on where you are. Place of Origin

FORMAL COMMERCE There are two modalities of formal commerce, the ones that you find in neighborhoods and the ones you find in the shopping centers.


SHOPPING CENTERS Characteristics: ●

You can trust the authenticity of the brands. Prices are higher even if the products have the same quality. It is safer than informal commerce due to the place where they are located.

NEIGHBORHOODS Characteristics: ●

They mostly work with national industries which make them more trustable. Prices are fair, they are not low but they are not too high either. They are located nearer than shopping centers so it’s easier to go there.


SOME FACTS Suba is the locality with the largest number of companies and commerce establishments with 77.638, it is followed by Kennedy, Engativa, Usaquen and Chapinero.

TransMilenio

It’s the biggest system of the city, it consists of 12 trunks and covers the entire city, it has its own track. The system stops in stations, TransMilenio buses are red.

2. Hybrid TransMilenios These buses can make stops in both TransMilenio stations and the street, they have doors in both sides and its color is gray/red/green.

SYSTEM’S EXPLANATION Bogota’s main public transport system is formed by 5 different kind of buses, each one of them has a different function. Bogota also has a line of “TransmiCable” which provide the same service as TransMilenio but by cable car.

3. SITP SITP are blue buses with long routes, they don’t have their own track so they get stuck on traffic sometimes.

5. Complementarios Complementarios have short routes because its purpose is to complete another route

Alimentadores are green buses with short routes, their purpose is to connect a neighborhood to its respective portal.
