Representatives from Greenergy and Newland Communities celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Eco Village at Waterset. Residences will be powered by solar energy.
Homebuyers who want to reduce their dependence on traditional energy sources will have a new and unique option to choose from at Waterset. Homebuilder, Greenergy, broke ground recently on its first net zero energy model home in the master-planned community, scheduled to open before the year end. Greenergy will offer 77 high performing net zero electric homes in Waterset that will be entirely powered by solar energy. The homes will feature designs and high performance elements not commonly found in homes throughout Florida. During construction, many eco-friendly materials will be utilized to ensure a truly eco-healthy home. Rooftop solar panels will produce the power that is used throughout the home to run all aspects of the home. Other features will include air ducts located below the attic to improve airflow and reduce costs, and smart home automation to turn off lights, pull down window shades and regulate climate when the homeowners are away. Natural gas will be used for cooking and other needs. Since the homes are expected to produce as much energy as is spent with average use, homeowners should not have an electric bill. Greenergy will offer both single story and two-story homes. The four open floor plans will feature three to four bedrooms with dens, two car garages and range from 2,300 sq. ft. to 3,000-sq. ft. Home prices are expected to start in the $290,000s. “Energy efficiency is becoming an important consideration for more and
more homebuyers,” said Pam Parisi, vice president of marketing for Newland Communities. “We believe the option of net zero electric homes will not only be unique in the Tampa Bay marketplace, but also appealing to many prospective buyers. We are very happy to welcome Greenergy as a new builder in Waterset.” Greenergy has also launched other Net Zero Energy neighborhoods in Port St. Lucie, Kissimmee and Bakersfield, California. Newland Communities is the master developer of the community. Waterset is one of more than 30 communities that the NORTH AMERICA SEKISUI HOUSE, LLC-Newland partnership owns together in 11 states across the United States.

Annual SouthShore Teacher’s Breakfast County To Vote On Fire Truck Relocation Seeking Donors To Benefit Local Teachers Continued from page 1 By Amy Schechter
Although the weather has not gotten the memo, the shortened summer is coming to an end, and soon teachers and students will be back in classrooms across Hillsborough County. The SouthShore Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a new teacher’s breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m. on Friday, August 5, at the Southshore Falls Clubhouse located in the Del Webb community at 5831 Cascade Falls Ln. in Apollo Beach. They will also be raising money, in the form of cash donations or $10 Walmart or Target gift cards, and donations for needed school supplies for 14 schools in the SouthShore area south of Big Bend Road. Leilani Warbritton, the marketing and public relations assistant with the SouthShore Chamber of Commerce, organizes the annual event. “Just a little bit of money can make a difference. School supplies are needed to reduce the amount teachers have to provide on their own,” she said. There are different tiers of donations to entice community members and businesses to contribute. Although the promotions are geared toward business owners, community donations are also welcome. A cash donation of $20 will sponsor one teacher and school supplies or gift cards that will go toward the schools. Donors will be invited to leave a business card at

each teacher’s seat. For $60, donors can sponsor two teachers and leave business cards in each gift bag to be handed out to participants. “Teacher’s Friend” Table Sponsors contribute $150 and receive business cards in every gift bag, promotional materials at each table, mention in the event program, and a sponsor’s place at the table to attend. “Breakfast Sponsors” gift $250 and receive the same as “Teacher’s Friends” with the addition of a banner and special recognition at the event. Finally, for a $500 donation, “Premier Event Donors” will earn media recognition, a banner at the event, two sponsor tickets to the breakfast, and the company logo in the program. Sponsors do not need to be in attendance to contribute, and the SouthShore Chamber welcomes donation drop offs during business hours. Warbritton adds, “We’re here Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for people to drop off. We can even come pick up donations from businesses or people in the community if needed.” Community members and businesses can drop off or mail donations to the SouthShore Chamber of Commerce, ATTN: Leilani Warbritton, Teacher’s Breakfast to 137 Harbor Village Lane, Apollo Beach, 33572. How To Have A Successful HOA Board A Homeowners Association (HOA) Board consists of a group of individuals with different ideas and opinions all working together toward one goal, serving their community. The board members must be able to have a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of its association, and what they want to accomplish. According to Melrose Management, HOA board members should possess certain qualities so that they can effectively do their job. The qualities they recommend to look out for include good communication skills, leadership skills, good ethics and maturity. Melrose Management stresses that since volunteering as an HOA board member is usually something that is taken on in addition to a fulltime job, the people that serve on the board are individuals who should want to better their association and make their community a more enjoyable place to live.
HOAleader.com also has a few traits they think HOA board members should have, which include a willingness to dig in, a sense of honesty, the good sense to ask for help, ability to delegate, willingness to share and
ability to adapt. The New Jersey COOPERATOR suggests to look for board members with different personal and professional backgrounds. This will help to bring in a wider variety of thoughts and ideas. If everyone on the board has the same profession, chances are that they will think alike. If everyone has different careers, they will bring more unique ideas to the table. What are some of the things your HOA looks for in its board members? If you have any tips or advice for future HOA board members, send them to nicoleh@ospreyobserver.com to be featured in next month’s HOA section. Locally-Owned And Built New South Windows Guaranteed For Life
By Michelle Caceres
New South Window Solutions President and Owner Earl Rahn said the company’s windows are made in Florida for Florida homes by Florida workers.
Brandon resident Assosouvale Pili’s home was invaded with the sounds of the outside world. The sounds of birds chirping, dogs barking and lawnmowers broke the solitude that he was looking for in his home. “I had old single pane windows and every little noise outside could be heard,” he said. Pili decided to replace his windows, so he researched companies and chose to hire New South Window Solutions. “From the salesperson to the installer, everyone was so professional and confident in their work,” said Pili. He wasn’t the only one to think so. When the county inspector came to make sure the work was done correctly, he was impressed with the quality windows. Now, with his new vinyl-frame, double pane windows installed, Pili said the birds, dogs and lawnmowers are still making noise but he doesn’t hear it. New South Window Solutions
Owners Dan and Deb Ochstein and Earl and Amy Rahn said that is exactly why they left successful careers at one of the country’s largest window manufacturing companies in Ohio to open New South Window Solutions in Florida in 2010. “We came here to bring energy-efficient windows to the state,” said company President Earl. “Single pane aluminum windows, which used to be so popular here in home construction, no longer meet current energy codes.” In addition to dramatically cutting down on outside noise, New South Window Solutions’ windows save money on energy bills year round, add value to homes, extend the life of air conditioning and heating units, add curb appeal, improve security and protect carpet and furniture from fading due to UV damage. Earl said New South Window Solutions, located at 4901 Oak Fair Blvd. in Tampa is not a window store. As a factory-direct company, custom windows are made in their factories for each individual customer, put on the back of their trucks and driven to customers’ driveways. “We offer an unconditional lifetime warranty on our windows,” said Marketing Director Amy. “It’s the last window you’ll ever need.” Osprey Observer readers that mention this article will receive 40 percent off the purchase and installation of three or more replacement windows. New South Window’s factory showroom is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 12 Noon–4 p.m. Visit www.newsouthwindow.com or call 793-7948.

Brandon TOPSoccer Opens Registration Riverview Warriors Conclude Season With Strong Showing At USSSA 10U Fastpitch World Series For 2016 Fall Season
Young players with the Brandon TOPSoccer Club chase the soccer ball down the field.
Brandon and surrounding area youth with mental or physical disabilities who would like to learn and play soccer can now register to join Brandon TOPSoccer for the upcoming fall season. Organized by youth soccer association volunteers, and locally sponsored by The Brandon Area Youth Soccer League (BAYSL) now West Florida Flames, Brandon TOPSoccer, (The Outreach Program for Soccer) gives boys or girls, age 5 and up, with special needs a chance to enjoy the sport as well as good association. “Our goal is to enable our young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of Florida Youth Soccer and the U.S. Youth Soccer family,” said Ken Muzyk a member of TOPSoccer board of directors. Muzyk added that as a corporate and individually sponsored program with no cost for the family, TOP Soccer’s fall season is a great opportunity for families to take advantage of. “Our program is a relaxed format with no practices, score keeping or team
standings—just fun games,” Muzyk said. “It’s all for the kids.” Starting its 18th season this year, Brandon TOPSoccer hosts its programs at BAYSL, 3104 S. Kings Ave. in Brandon, behind Kingswood Elementary School. Since its start, the program has grown annually from 25 players in 1998 to more than 120 last year, which gives clear testimony to its continued success and need in the community. The 2016 season is scheduled to start on Saturday, September 10, at 9 a.m., and will run through November 19. Fall season registrations will began on Friday, August 12 (6-8 p.m.), Saturday, August 13 (9 a.m.-12 Noon), Friday, August 19 (6-8 p.m.), Saturday, August 20 (9 a.m.-12 Noon), Friday, August 26 (6-8 p.m.), Saturday, August 27, (9 a.m.-12 Noon) at the BAYSL clubhouse. Players must be 5 years old on or before September 10, 2016, and must bring a copy of their Individual Education Plan form to registration. Bayshore Automotive Owner Darren Vivolo and General Manager Kevin Champ keep restyled Jeeps, trucks and sports cars in stock for purchase.
Shortly after local resident and father of four Kevin Ordway bought a Jeep Wrangler Sport in 2015, he decided it needed a little customization. “I had heard about Bayshore Automotive from some neighbors who told me they did great work so I gave them a try,” said Ordway. That “little customization” project turned into multiple visits to their shop over the past two years, tricking his ride with body armor, new bumpers with a winch and an LED light bar. “It was hard to pick just one customization so I’ve been continually adding more,” joked Ordway, who has been pleased with the results. “The quality of their work is just fantastic.” He’s so satisfied with their work that he isn’t shy about referring business their way. He keeps a stack of their postcards handy to give to people who compliment him on the look of his vehicle, which occurs often. Bayshore Automotive Owner Darren Vivolo said Jeeps are the perfect Florida vehicle. “It’s a utility vehicle but when the doors and top is removed it becomes a
convertible, the perfect beach buggy,” Vivolo said. In business for more than 15 years, Vivolo is the largest Jeep restyler in the state. No job is too big or too small for him and his team. He once performed a $75,000 re-build for a professional sports player that included leather seats, a lift kit, larger tires and many other bells and whistles. Most jobs don’t cost a lot less than that, he said. Jeeps aren’t the only vehicles that get Vivolo’s attention. He also customizes trucks and sports cars, building to order. “If you have an idea we take it and transform it and make it happen,” he said. In addition to full detailing and reconditioning, Bayshore Automotive is a luxury automobile wholesale company open to the public. He usually has approximately 40 vehicles, mostly Jeeps and trucks, in stock that have been given his personal touch. General Manager Kevin Champ said the showroom is unlike most dealerships in one important way. “We don’t have salespeople so you won’t find anyone following you around,” he said. “It’s a completely different way of purchasing a vehicle.” Vivolo also sells his own accessory line of OCD off-road custom designs including fenders and bumpers. Bayshore Automotive is located at 2801 E. Adamo Dr., two blocks east of Ikea and is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m.–6 p.m. and by appointment on the weekend. Visit www.bayshoreautomotive.com or call 241-4000 for an appointment.

Rose Gold Rings Rings g Rose gold is technical a gold and copper alloy, according to jeweler Do Amore. More copper makes for a ring with more red tones, while less copper produces a pink effect. Before you go ring shopping, here are a few things to consider.
PROS Durability. The copper content in rose gold makes it more durable than white or yellow gold, according to Diamonds.com. So if you’re looking for a piece of jewelry that will stand the test of time, consider rose gold. Affordability. Although rose gold is gaining in popularity,JEWELRY copper is very affordable, making rose gold a budget-conscious choice. Versatility. Rose gold complements warm and cool skin tones, making it a good choice for many women. Although it can be used in modern and more classic ring designs, rose gold is best in a vintage-inspired piece. Rose gold also can be mixed with yellow and white gold to achieve a unique look. Pair rose gold with colored stones to create a conversation piece.
CONS Allergies. Some people may not be able to wear a rose gold ring due to a copper allergy. It is not considered to be hypoallergenic. If the love of your life has sensitive skin, think twice before shopping
f
for rose gold. Yellow gold tends to produce fewer allergic responses. Availability. You may have a harder time finding the style you want in a rose gold setting. White and yellow gold are more common metals for engagement rings, so you may have to search near and far for just the right piece. The good thing is that more couples are choosing rose gold settings, so your options will likely increase with time.

The Hues of Summer
C
hoosing colors for your wedding is, of course, an entirely personal matter. But that doesn’t mean the experts haven’t attempted to predict the trends for 2016. Writing for Glamour Weddings, Brie Walter of Brie’s Honeybees & Flowers predicted a classic palette of soft colors, such as blush and creams, would be popular this year. On the flip side, Leah Weinberg, of Color Pop Events, and Amanda Hansen, of Decoration, Inc., predicted that couples will choose brighter colors. Print color authority Pantone recommended a list of 10 of its colors for this year’s brides in its Fashion Color Report for Spring 2016. Among its picks were rose, peach, sky and nautical shades of blue, buttercup yellow, aqua, a grayish purple, an orange-hued red, a coffee-inspired brown and a bright yellow-green.
GO MULTI-TONAL Another wedding trend creates a great opportunity to let brides be a little more creative with their color choices. It’s becoming popular to style bridesmaids in vary-
ing tones of a single color. For example, if you opt for greens, let each bridesmaid choose a unique gown in shades from pale mint to candy apple. You also might mix shades of hot pinks with bright oranges. Another option is to consider an expansive color palette, with the wedding party sporting varying muted shades of some of Pantone’s top-10 swatches.
GO FOR CONTRAST If you’re feeling adventurous, mix the two ideas for a rustic or woodland theme accented with vibrant pops of color. Subtle wood tones make a great neutral background for bright pops of color that evoke summer’s abundant flora. Of course, a more classic rustic theme can make great use of pale rose and cream, as well. Whatever aesthetic you choose, your personal touches will make your wedding your own.

Summer in Bloom
T
he lush blooms of summer make for endless options for vibrant arrangements. This means the summer bride can have her pick of the many in-season flowers for her bouquet.
YELLOWS
Sunflowers, yellow roses and daisies are all great choices for the summer bouquet. These sunny hues are undeniably fun and offer a uniquely summery vibe. Snapdragon and hypericum are great for filler and offer lighter tones.
PINKS AND PURPLES Hot pink Gerbera daisies are eye-catching and pair well with yellows. Pink roses are classic, while bright stargazer lilies also are a summery sight. Deep plummy calla lilies make a statement, while cooler purple aster, flox, freesia and alstromeria also are appealing. Add punchy pinks to a mass of lavender blooms for a unique aesthetic.
ORANGES Orange-hued blooms also seem to have been ripped from the landscape of summer. Gerbera daisies, oranges, carnations and snapdragons all can add a warm touch to a bouquet.

If your color scheme embraces a wide variety of vibrant colors, a host of summertime flowers fit the bill. Carry a rainbow of alstromeria
blooms, Gerbera daisies, roses or day lilies. The sky is the limit when it comes to incorporating colorful blooms.
CENTERPIECES A white metal basket spilling over with weighty peonies.
Bright daisies resting in crystal clear glass vases. Clumps of lavender in blue-tinted glass jars. Summer flowers are made for adding punches of color to centerpieces. To add height to the table, the reach of striking phalaenopsis
orchids draw the eye upward.
FOR THE CEREMONY Add interest to the aisles with kissing balls of blooms, either hanging from each chair lining the aisle or a shepherd’s hook, or lying on the ground.
Wedding Dress Collector Preserves Dresses, History Of Past Brides
By Katelyn Massarelli
Leigh Anne Brown tells the story of just a few wedding dresses from her collection. She is dedicated to sharing the story of past brides and how American women have evolved since the Civil War.
The day a woman marries the person she loves is supposed to be one of the most special times of her life. The day she puts on her perfect wedding dress and attire is the day her life changes forever. What we do not realize is that each bride creates a story of themselves as American women and the evolution through the centuries. Wedding dress collector, Leigh Anne Brown, is dedicated to sharing the stories stored in the dresses she has collected for the past 20 years. Brown shares the story of at least 175 brides dating all the way back from the Civil War era discussing the evolution of the wedding dress style and modern American woman. According to Brown, her collection is a direct result of her lifelong love affair with antique clothing. Brown isn’t solely dedicated to preserving vintage wedding dresses, she also wants to preserve the story that accompanies each dress she receives. “[At first glance], people first think they are going to see a fashion show,” Brown said. “I really discuss the changes of women, social expectations, politics, and everything that surrounds women
daily. Every decade women step out of the box and we look at how an individual bride was impacted by her world at the time.” As the collection continued to grow it led her to presenting portions of her collection to audiences ranging from veterans, ladies, churches, and charities. Her most recent presentation was shown at The Bridges in Riverview that was called Portraits of a Bride. Brown is able to connect generations of women to today’s generation and how we relate to brides of the past. According to Brown, her collection and presentations are a way for a bride’s story to be told again and live on along with future generations of brides. “There is a reason behind why a dress looks the way it does,” Brown said. “[Through the presentations], viewers can see the progress through time and because these are real people who wore these dresses, it becomes personal to people.” If you are interested in donating your wedding dress or a family member’s wedding dress, email Brown at lelu22@juno.com.

Lose Weight • Build Strength Body Tone • Endurance • Flexibility “I Lost 56lbs, 13% BF, 7″ in Waist”” Ever since I was a child I have always had a goal in mind of becoming an Air Force pilot, but at 350 pounds and size 48 pants I knew that I was a long way away from that goal. I attempted losing the weight on my own but after reaching 325 pounds I noticed that my weight was no longer going down like I had wanted. I heard from a friend about her colleague’s great success at RobZFitness and I decided to give them a call to see what they could offer me. I was never looking for a quick solution to reach my goal. I wanted to work for it because I knew at that point that I needed help to get where I wanted to be. A quick phone call later and I was set up for my fitness evaluation with Rob. Through the course of his evaluation I began to realize where I was on the fitness level for men at my age and where I needed to be for my goal were a lot farther apart than I had thought. Within a week I began training at RobZFitness and I have never regretted that decision. Even over the course of a few months Taylor, my trainer, was able to find new ways to force me and my body to continue on the right path towards better overall health. My trip to better health is not yet over, but with the help of all the trainers at RobZFitness I am much closer to it. So far over the course of six months I can tell that I am already in better shape than I was in high school, and probably the best shape of my life this far. So far I have lost 56 pounds, lost 13.4% body fat and lost 7.5 inches around my chest, 7 inches around my waistline and 4 inches around my thigh. Already through my short time at RobZFitness I have been able to accomplish great things and one of my favorites is not having to pay extra for the plus size clothes. Before too much longer I will finally be able to purchase pant sizes in the 30’s and I have RobZFitness to thank for that. Josh Sprigg

High School Students Put Cyber Skills To The Test at GenCyber Camp
Local high school students recently got a hands-on look at what a career in cybersecurity can provide them as part of a free cybersecurity camp. Twenty students, grades 1012, received an introduction to cybersecurity in July at GenCyber, a free camp offered in partnership with the University of South Florida College of Education and the Florida Center for Cybersecurity. Funded through a $100,000 grant from the National Security Agency, this program’s goal is to help students understand correct and safe online behavior and to raise interest in careers in the cybersecurity field. This was the first time the program was offered in the Tampa area, and the only camp in the GenCyber program being hosted in the state of Florida this year. Visit thefc2.org.

Local Artists Salvator Ingrassia, Anna Schermerhorn Show Work At SouthShore Regional Library
Works of local artists Salvator Ingrassia (left) and Anna Schermerhorn (right) are on exhibit at the SouthShore Regional Library in Ruskin through the end of August.
The current exhibit in the Crawford Gallery at the SouthShore Regional Library in Ruskin is an eclectic group of artwork of two very different local artists. Salvator Ingrassia is from Sun City Center and Anna Schermerhorn is from Riverview. The exhibit is up for viewing through the end of August. Ingrassia has an impressive resume dating back to his graduation from the Art Institute in Chicago in 1958. His artwork includes painting, printing, drawing and mixed media. There are approximately 35 pieces of his work in the show. It is most interesting and a good exhibit of fine artwork. Ingrassia’s work is both calming and fun. Laurie Burhop, art coordinator for the SouthShore Regional Library said, “Sal has an abundant amount of work. Some of his work is very realistic while other work incorporates many materials and has a bit of abstraction to it.” Schermerhorn’s work includes both
small and large textural paintings. The theme of her work in this exhibit is underwater. The artwork is stunning and wonderful to view. It captures you as you enter the gallery space. Burhop said, “Anna works in a lot of texture in her paintings and works with vibrant colors. Her work is very expressive.” “These two artists were selected by the John Crawford Advisory Board for their creativity and approach to their work. This show is varied and quite dynamic,” Burhop said. “This is an excellent exhibit and we already have had such a positive response from our patrons here at the library. The patrons here at the SouthShore Regional Library really appreciate the exhibits and are very verbal about them.” The SouthShore Regional Library is located at 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin. For more information on the current exhibit or on upcoming exhibits, call 273-3652.
