alanBRATTON Head Coach

First Year at Oklahoma State (Oklahoma State, 1995)

After a successful seven-year run as the associate head coach for both the men's and women's golf programs at Oklahoma State, Alan Bratton begins his tenure as the Cowgirls' head coach in 2011-12.

Bratton returned to OSU after spending three years as a player development manager for Ping where he worked to enhance the company's college and amateur programs.

In his seven seasons with the Cowboys, the program won its 10th national title in 2006 and produced its eighth NCAA champion in Jonathan Moore. Additionally, the Cowboys finished in the top five at the NCAA Championship on five occasions and captured six conference crowns.

Prior to his stint at Ping, Bratton played professionally from 19952000, competing on the Asian Tour from 1996-97, the PGA Tour in 1999 and the Buy.com Tour in 2000. During his professional career, Bratton competed in 31 PGA events and posted a pair of top-25 finishes, tying for 25th at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and tying for 15th at the Nissan Open.

During his tenure, OSU generated 23 All-Americans, including 10 first-team selections. The Cowboys also produced national players of the year in Rickie Fowler, Pablo Martin and Peter Uihlein. Bratton was instrumental in Uihlein becoming the program's fourth U.S. Amateur champion, serving as the All-American's caddy for his 2010 victory at Chambers Bay. On the women's side, he helped prepare the Cowgirls for back-toback top-10 finishes at the national tournament. In 2009, OSU finished fourth before tying for eighth place the following year. The Cowgirls also captured three Big 12 titles during Bratton's time on staff. Individually, the Cowgirls produced four first-team All-Americans during his time as an assistant. Among those earning the distinction was Caroline Hedwall, who left Stillwater as the most decorated player in school history after becoming the Cowgirls' first NCAA champion and national player of the year in 2010. A native of College Station, Texas, Bratton has had a hand in the day-to-day coaching and recruiting efforts for both the Cowboy and Cowgirls since his return. In addition, he has continued to compete in high-level amateur events, taking part in the Western Amateur, the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Mid-Amateur.

11

Bratton regained his amateur status in 2006 and immediately enjoyed a successful run upon his return to competitive golf. During his first summer back in action, he claimed the Oklahoma State Amateur title before winning the local qualifier for the U.S. Amateur. In addition, he competed in the Western Amateur and qualified for the U.S. Mid-Amateur. As a Cowboy, Bratton was a four-time All-American, earning firstteam honors in 1994 and 1995, and was named co-recipient of the 1994 Jack Nicklaus Award, honoring the nation's top player. As a senior in 1995, he led OSU to the eighth of its 10 national championships. The Big Eight Player of the Year in 1992 and 1994, Bratton also captured conference medalist honors in 1992 and 1995. He is currently tied for fourth on the school's all-time list with seven career victories. Bratton was equally successful in the classroom, garnering Academic All-America honors in 1994 and 1995 on his way to earning a degree in business administration. Bratton and his wife, Gretchen, who is also an OSU graduate, have three children: Mason, Noah and Gunnar.

courtneyJONES Assistant Coach —

First Year at Oklahoma State (Tulsa, 2006)

Courtney Jones begins her first season as an assistant coach for the Oklahoma State women's golf program. "Courtney's golf knowledge, work ethic and personality make her a perfect fit for Oklahoma State," Bratton said. "She comes highly recommended by several prominent coaches as well as industry leaders. I am thrilled to add her to our team and can't wait to see what we can accomplish." Jones comes to Stillwater after working as the senior tournament director for the American Junior Golf Association since 2007. While working at the AJGA, she helped plan and run 39 national junior golf championships and served as tournament director for 21 of those events.

Jones also worked as a regional assistant for the AJGA since 2009. In that capacity, she was responsible for marketing and sponsor development in the South Central region, which spans nine states and includes Mexico. A graduate of the University of Tulsa, Jones spent the 2006 fall season as an assistant coach at her alma mater. Jones graduated Cum Laude from Tulsa with degrees in international business and Spanish and a minor in economics. Additionally, she was named an All-American Scholar Athlete by the National Golf Coaches Association in 2003 and 2004.

"I am so excited to join the coaching staff at Oklahoma State and have the opportunity to be actively involved in developing players," Jones said. "This is an exciting new chapter for Cowgirl Golf and I am honored to work with Coach Bratton to bring a new perspective and energy to the future of women's golf at Oklahoma State." "In order to reach one's full potential I believe it is necessary to surround oneself with a great support network and resources. Oklahoma State offers exactly that, a golf program with a rich tradition of excellence, a coaching staff with a passion for developing players, the finest facilities in college golf and a culture that breeds excellence. On top of all of that, I can't think of better people to work with and learn from than Coach Bratton, Coach McGraw and Coach Holder."

Edith Cummings Munson Award

Stephanie Martin 1992

Emma Zackrisson 2002

Karin Sjödin 2005

The Edith Cummings Munson Golf Award is annually presented at the NGCA Banquet at the NCAA Division I Championship. The award goes to the student-athlete who is both an NGCA All-American Scholar and an NGCA All-American. If more than one student-athlete qualifies, the student-athlete with the highest grade point average receives the award. A donation of $5,000 is given from the Curtis & Edith Cummings Munson Foundation to the general scholarship fund of the recipient's institution. Stephanie Martin was the Edith Cummings Munson Award recipient in 1992, the first Cowgirl to be rewarded for her performance, both on the field and in the classroom. Emma Zackrisson was the 2002 recipient of the award. In 2005, Karin Sjödin was the award winner.

Dinah Shore Trophy

The Dinah Shore Trophy Award, a part of the Dinah Shore Scholarship Fund, is a cooperative effort between the LPGA Foundation, the Friends of Golf (FOG), and the Nabisco Dinah Shore, one of the LPGA’s four major championships and the largest contributor to the Dinah Shore Scholarship Fund. The LPGA Foundation introduced the Dinah Shore Scholarship Fund in March 1994 in honor of the late Dinah Shore, and together with FOG and the Nabisco Dinah Shore, developed the Dinah Shore Trophy Award and its criteria. A selection committee of the LPGA Foundation chooses the Dinah Shore Trophy Award recipient from nominations submitted by the National Golf Coaches Association. Nominees for the award must meet the following criteria: an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale; played in at least 50% of her team’s scheduled events; maintained a scoring average of 78 or less; and demonstrated leadership skills and/or extraordinary community affairs work.

Karin Sjödin 2005

The perpetual Dinah Shore Trophy is a crystal trophy, created by Tiffany & Co. with an engraving of Dinah Shore. The trophy is housed at Mission Hills Country Club, site of the annual Nabisco Dinah Shore.

Oklahoma State has won 21 conference championships, including half of the Big 12’s league titles in its first 10 years of existence. The Cowgirls won their first Big Eight Championship in 1977 in the league’s second-annual event. Since that spring in Norman, OSU has dominated both the Big Eight and Big 12 Conference in women’s golf. Oklahoma State won six-consecutive Big Eight titles from 1984-89, and won the last three championships in the old Big Eight from 1994-96. Once the Big 12 was formed, it took two seasons before the Cowgirls were once again the top team in the league. OSU won its first Big 12 title in 1999, and rattled off three-straight wins from 200103. Oklahoma State claimed its most recent titles in 2008 and 2009 when the Cowgirls won on their home course, Karsten Creek, and in Lubbock, Texas in 2009.

Since the Big Eight began hosting a conference tournament 32 seasons ago, Oklahoma State Cowgirl golfers have won 22 individual medalist honors at the conference championship, by far more than any other school in the league. Patty Livingston-Zimmer won OSU’s first individual title in 1977. Since then, 15 different Cowgirls have won those 22 medals. Alicia Ogrin was the first two-time winner, earning the trophy in 1978 and ‘79. Cowgirl Eva Dahllof is the only three-time winner in league history, winning in 1987-89. An OSU golfer won the individual title at the Big 12 Championships five times in the league’s first 10 seasons, including two-time winner Maria Bodén (1999 & 2001), Emma Zackrisson (2002), and Annie Thurman-Young (2004 & 2005). Jaclyn Sweeney (2006) was the squad’s most recent champion.
