Led by coach Ken Barnhill, the Panther hockey team is really proud of the year they have had finishing with a record of 8 wins and 7 losses. “We have a lot of leadership on the team and players know how to lead a team very well,” Coach Ken Barnhill said. This team has a lot of veteran players that have started very young and are finishing up their season strong as a panther. Goalie senior Justin Lewis and Alt. Coach Gibson has led this years hoop squad to another successful year recently beating the Alton Red Birds in the Panther Dome 77-72. Though their record may say other wise, this season has been no walk in the park. 4-4 in the
conference, the panthers are No.5 in the Southwestern Conference. With two tournament titles under their belts, and plenty of season left, the Panthers have little to worry about for the remaining year.
This past weekend, boys’ bowling placed 4th out of 32 teams in the IHSA State kameronjohnson@othstoday. Tournament. “This has been one of our best years yet,” said senior Ryan Greynolds reflecting on his last year as an OTHS bowler. 11 wins and only 3 losses during the season should say enough for how well the bowling team did blowing away the competition with ease. Sophomore Josh Brown, who averaged a score of 213, played a major factor in the Panthers’ success all of the way to state. Placing ahead of Alton in the state tournament highlighted the Panthers’ fantastic season. Alton was the Senior Billy Goodman bowls a strike in a match against Collinsville. Boys’ wrestling has done a complete 180 this year after last season’s rebuilding season. Standing at a strong 116 on top in the conference, the Panthers look forward to taking on state as a whole. Senior Bryan Pierson has contributed to the Panthers success with 28 wins. Though injuries have played a negative impact this year, there is no doubt the Panthers will shine in the weeks to come.

Going into sectionmycalhurley@othstoday.com als with a clean conference record of 14-0, the unstoppable girls’ bowling team looks to dominate their opposition on their way to state. Last year, the girls did not qualify for state. Despite their fall, they were confident in improving their game and coming back to the competition with a desire to win it all. This year, the girls have the perfect combination of new and old players that managed to get them into the top spot entering sectionals, which take place on Feb. 4.

Boys’ swimming has been spectacu-
lar this season. Yet to find an opponent capable to match their speed, endurance, and strength, the Panthers are undefeated and are not showing any signs of slowing down. Each day, the boys endure late night practices with coaches Eddy and Buehler to harness their technique. Techniques these swimmers have mastered will make them one of the most lethal teams in Illinois. Stacked with talent from veterans senior Mark Williams, freshman Sean Workman, and first year swimmer Mike Slaughter. The Panthers hope to make a big splash in this years state tournament. Check out the boys at their next home meet Feb. 4 at the YMCA.
