WELCOME Hello everyone, welcome to our first newsletter!!
We would like to keep you informed of the changes we have made so far and will provide a newsletter every six months to do this. I can’t believe we are half way through the year already!!! Time flies when you’re having fun!! So, I’m going to start by telling you about some of the things we have been up to this year...

ACHIEVEMENTS Well done to all of the staff at Lavender Villa for their contribution towards our award from trackers in March where we achieved the award for highly commended medium business of the year 2014!! Keep up the good work!! Well Done to Keelie and Carla for completing and passing their administration of medication training. Well done to Tina, Natasha and Iwona for completing and achieving their QCF level 2 in health and social care and good luck to the staff who are well on their way to completing their QCF’S this year… watch this space!! A very special thank you to Natasha for all of our beautiful flower arrangements for all of our special occasions.
SPECIAL OCCASIONS Here are some of the themed meals and occasions we have held this year. In January, on New Year’s Day, the residents enjoyed a champagne and lobster dinner in the dining room. In February, we held a special Valentines evening. In March, we celebrated St. Patricks day in style with Guinness and Baileys and traditional Irish Cuisine. In April, The chefs prepared an exquisite Easter Buffet. In May, we pulled out all the stops (except the weather!!!) and held a fabulous Liberation Day Barbeque. For June, we have planned a Spanish Tapas evening for our residents to enjoy.
MENUS Our chefs Bart and Marek who provide nutritious and healthy meals, have been working closely with us to ensure the menus are revised regularly and all dietary requirements are met. You will also notice, the menus will change with the seasons and the availability of fresh produce. We have also introduced a themed meal every month for our residents to enjoy. Any suggestions from residents for a themed meal can be discussed with Bart or Marek.
COMMENTS & SUGGESTIONS You will now find in reception, a comments and suggestions box inviting you to tell us your views and any ideas you may have to improve how we do things.

SPECIAL THANKS We would like to thank St. Luke’s and Grouville school for our fantastic Christmas carol performances. This got our Christmas off to a great start and was enjoyed by all who attended! We hope to see you again this year!! We would like to thank shoestring for our great fashion afternoon. This gave the residents the freedom to choose their glad rags independently for Christmas and new year celebrations from the comfort of their own home!! A big BIG thank you to Liz who brings out the artist in most of our residents who are proud to hang their artwork in reception. Also we would like to thank Bobby the jeweller for his amazing array of jewellery that he showcased for the ladies to purchase for themselves as a treat or as presents in time for Christmas. We would also like to express our gratitude to Curtain Up Theatre Group who performed an amazing show which the residents and staff are still talking about on the May Day bank holiday weekend. We are looking forward to their return to Lavender Villa later in the year! A massive thank you to Alex at advance plus for all of our Fabulous students throughout the year! We have really enjoyed having them with us and are very proud of what they have achieved. This brings our first newsletter to a close, Can’t wait to see what the next one will bring!!
