OPERATION CIABOT

Team / Andrea Ottaviani, Martino Pezzolla, Manuel Piscioneri Location / Camerana (CN), ITALIA Year / 2015 Description / Holiday house Course / MSc Thesis Politecnico di Torino (prof. Andrea Bocco) The project is part of a guidebook on how to restorate and rehabilitate the “Ciabots” of the Alta Langa in Piedmont, which are small isolated buildings made up of a single functional “cell”, developed on

one or two floors and used for agricultural activities. The guide gives advice on how to operate on single elements, how to deal with Italian legislation and which philosophy should be used while restoring. The project, an enlargement made of stone and glass, is a greenhouse that heats up the internal spaces and collects water from the roof for non-drinkable use. It is completely “Off the Grid”.
