BIOGRAPHIES Ed Vaughan (Director) A Chorus Line marks the first production that Mr. Vaughan has rC'Staged for the Otterhein College Department of Theatre and Dance—he directed the original OC production in 1988. His other directing credits include the world premieres of Catnap Allegiance and The Brothers Karamazov, and such favorites as Sweeney Todd, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Jake’s Women, The Boys Next Door, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, Lend Me A Tenor, Rumors, Noises Off,Same Time, Next Year, The Elephant Man, Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Nigjxt's Dream. Throughout his career, Mr. Vaughan has been involved in over 200 theatrical prtxluctions as an actor, director, stage manager, producer and artistic director. Future projects include upcoming productions of Durang, Durang at CATCO and the world premiere of Carter Lewis’ Picasso Does My Maps in the spring. Stella Hiatt Kane (Choreographer) has been a member of the Otterhein College Theatre and Dance faculty since 1989, a member of the BalletMet Academy faculty, and the founding Artistic Director of JazzMet. She brings an extensive list of theatre, television, and teaching credentials to her position. Ms. Kane has been a member of the National and International companies of The American Dance Machine and has appeared with the national companies of Sugar, and Bob Fosse's Dancin'. She's appeared on ABC'sEntertainment Tonight and the Ann Keinking Special with Ann Reinking and Ben Vereen. Ms. Kane has taught for New York's The American Dance Machine/Harkness House, The Actors' and Director's Lab, Dance Educators of


America, and Dance Olympus. Her choreographic credits include not only an eclectic range of concert repetoire, but several musical theatre productions including 1940's Radio Hour, Stepping Out, Baby, Sweet Charity, and the award-winning Otterhein production of Pippin where Ms. Kane received the Central Ohio Critics' award for Best Choreography. Stephen Monroe (Music Director) is a member of the adjunct faculty in the Otterhein Department of Music. He is the director of Opus Zero and teaches voice and musical theatre history and performance. He has served as music or vocal director for Otterbein’s pnxluctions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Nunsense, and Into the Woods, He also teaches at Denison University on Granville, OH. An actor, singer and pianist, he has toured nationally with the Nebraska Theatre Caravan, and performed with Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, Columbus Light Opera, A Premiere Playhouse, Cantari Singers, and Weathervane Playhouse in Newark. This past February he performed the role of the Celebrant in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass, presented by the Otterhein Opera Workshop and Chorale. He holds the Master of Music degree from the University of Illinois. Beth Burrier-Bradstreet (Ass’t Music Director) is a vocal music teacher in the Zanesville City Schools. She is a graduate of Otterhein College, where she was involved in the original Otterhein production of A Chorus Line, as well as many other productions including Sweeney Todd and Quitters. She served as Music Director for last year’s Androcles and the Lion, as well as the fall quarter performance of Opus Zero. Other credits include Into the Woods, Baby, Working and The Fantastiks. Ms. Bradstreet is a member of VocalBAROQUE, a professional early music group in Columbus, and is also pursuing work as a freelance accompanist. Rob Johnson (Scenic and Lighting Designer) is our resident set and lighting designer and Ass’t Professor in the design/tech area. Rob will be celebrating his second design of A Chorus Line here at OC, having been part of the original team that produced the show over eight years ago when he joined the faculty in 1987. Rob most recently designed lights for Artscape at the Capitol Theatre downtown and for CATCO’s Sisters, which is still running. He continues to freelance and has been actively involved as a board member of USITT (Ohio Valley Section). Last season, Rob won USITT Ezekiel Awards for his designs for I Hate Hamlet and Pippin, and was recently named by the Columbus Dispatch for Best Lighting Design for his work on Six Degrees of Separation. Rob would like to dedicate his work to his family and the memory of his father. Katie Robbins (Costume Designer) begins her tenth season with Otterhein College Theatre with A Chorus Litre which she also designed for Otterhein in 1988. Some of her favorite previous designs include The Brothers Karamazov, The Cherry Orchard and Big River. On her sabbatical next spring, Katie will be visiting numerous regional theatres in conjunction with her role as internship director for design/technology students. Katie is an active member of USITT and will be presenting the results of a computer video data base project at the national conference in Fort Worth next spring. Dana White (Sound Designer) designed the lighting for Androcles and the Lion, Cherry Orchard, Pippin, Top Girls, and I Hate Hamlet, the sound for King Lear at Otterhein and All Night Strut.’ at Detroit’s restored Gem Theatre. His lighting design for Pippin won a Finalist Award for the anitual Ezekiel Awards by the Ohio Valley section of the USITT. He also design the lighting for the last two years’ prtxluctions of A C/irlstmas Carol for Purple Rose Theatre and The Michigan Theatre Foundation in Ann Arbor, MI. The Purple Rose Theatre is Jeff Daniel’s professional Equity company based in Chelsea, MI. where he has lit several original scripts including Stanton's Garage, Possessed; The Dracula Mwiical, Tropical Pickle, Kuru and Hang the Moon by Suzanne Burr. He also lit a concert version of Bartok’s Bluebeard's Ca.stle for BGSU in December with the help of students Rob Holland and Seth Reinick.

The aims of this national theater program are to identify and promote quality in college-level theater production. To this end, each production entered is eligible for adjudication by a regional KC/ACTF representative, and certain students are selected to participate in KC/ACTF programs involving awards, scholarships, and special grants for actors, playwrights, designers, and critics at both the regional and national levels. Productions entered on the Participating level are eligible for inclusion at the KC/ACTF regional festival and can also be considered for invitation to the non­ competitive KC/ACTF national festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, in the spring of 1996. Last year more than 900 productions and 18,000 students participated in the American College Theater Festival nationwide. By entering this production, our department is sharing in the KC/ACTF goals to help college theater grow and to focus attention on the exemplary work produced in callege and university theaters across the nation.
