CELEBRATING WITH AS YOU LIKE IT It is with special pride, that we present this production of AS YOU LIKE IT to continue our 75th year of celebration of the Speech and Theatre Department. This is the fourth time in the history of Speech and Theatre at Otterbein to present AS YOU LIKE IT as part of an anniversary celebration. AS YOU LIKE IT was first presented by the college’s senior class on June 10, 1907, as the begin ning of academic theatre at Otterbein. The second celebration production of AS YOU LIKE IT marked the 20th Anniversary in 1926-27. The 60th year celebration in 1966, again included a production of AS YOU LIKE IT.
The students and staff of the Speech and Theatre Departments welcome you to participate in our 75th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION and thank you for supporting our program through the years.

DIRECTORS CORNER In the past decade, we have experienced multiple expressions of the needs of the young to take flight into temporary chaos. When the primordial instincts are aroused, the necessity to break patterns and daily routines ebbs to the surface of our being. The desire to crush our routines and break from op pressive social orders sets our hearts to throbbing, our blood to gushing and our foot to tapping. It is time to “break out”, “get down”, “rise up”, and “cut loose !. . . but to where? In our time we have gone various places; back to nature, forth to the city, uptown, downtown, out of town; anywhere but where we ve been. We ve fled to the miasma of drink and to the chaos of dreams. Recently, disco mania has provided a pulsating swirl, where the docile would shed their three piece bondage, adorn themselves with gold and glitter, brace themselves with 80 proof starch and pound out what was pent up. Shakespeare calls this the flight to the Green World, where frolic abounds, where costume is changed as well as the role one plays. We seek the carnal and the chaotic. We purge the dust from our mind to refurbish ourselves in preparation for the return to Mondays order. AS YOU LIKE IT is a plunge into that Green World. From the oppression of the court to the free dom of the forest. The courtly beast is set loose to frolic, to sate those desires before it is recaged in a new social order. We all witness a revolution of the soul each day . . . this is what it looked like yesterday . Carter W. Lewis

PROFESSIONAL GUEST DIRECTOR AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE ' March 11-12-13-14, 1981 Due to Dr. Charles Dodrill’s recent illness and surgery it became necessary to find another director for this production and alter original plans for a guest actress to perform as Miss Reardon. We are pleased to announce that Otterbein graduate, Dennis Romer, will return to campus to direct this production. Dennis has acted or directed in over 30 productions at Otterbein, seen on television as Dr Campbell on “As the World Turns” and numerous commercials, and has just completed a movie to be released soon. MAILING LIST - If you would like to be on our moiling list and receive announcements of college cultural activities, please fill out a card at the Box Office. REFRESHMENTS - The refreshment stand is located in the north lobby for your convenience. We would appreciate your cooperation in not bringing cups into the auditorium. Thank you. RESTROOMS and TELEPHONE - The restrooms and telephone are located off the main corrider immediately beneath the lobby.
