Bio;^raphIes________ David Caldwell (Director) returns to Otterbein after directing last season’s production of The Dro)v^ Chaperone. Other Otterbein University directing credits include Urimlown, Altar Berf;^ The 25th Ammal Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Spitfire Grill, The 1940s ’Radio Hour, The Pavilion, Violet, Vorever Plaid, My Way, The Butter Cy Egg Man, Sanders Tamily Christmas and Smoke on the Mountain.

He served as Artistic Director for the Gretna Timbers Theatre from 1996 through 2000. David appeared on “You Wrote It, You Watch It” for MTV and works as an actor, director, and play­ wright across the country. He most recently directed Kimberly Aldmbo in Florida and Driving Miss Daisy for CFRT in North Carolina.Other past productions include Annie and Big at the Lyceum Theatre; Hello Again and Bat Boy in St. Louis; Nunsense at Allenberry Playhouse; the Taf­ fetas for Muhlenberg; Bye Bye Birdie, Hotu to Succeed... and I-oot. He also directed Forever Plaid in Hawaii, and the Los Angeles premiere of Sanders Family Christmas. His original plays, Weddin’ Royale, Tune in Tonight, The Swinging Detective, and jukebox Saturday Night have been produced region­ ally in Los Angeles and New York. He has worked regionally at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, La Mirada Performing Arts Center, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Meadowbrook Theatre, Riverside Theatre, Muhlenberg Summer Music Festival, Totem Pole Playhouse, Pennsylvania Stage Company, Florida Studio Theatre, The Spanish Galleon /Myrtle Beach, the Hula Hart in Waikiki and at the Manhattan Theatre Club, New Dramadsts and the Avalon Theatre in NYC. Past producdons include Radio Gals, Bosh tV Moonshine, No Sex Please, We’re British, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Guys Dolls, A Funny Thing Plappened on the Way to the IPrum, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, The Rivals, and Pump Boys ely Dinettes. David received his MFA from Brandeis University and worked as a Literary

Agent and Casting Associate for television, film, and theatre.

Lori Kay Harvey (Musical Director) Credits include Company, Urinetown, Pippin, Carnival, My Way, 1940s Radio Hour, Forever Plaid Presents Plaid Tidings, Nunsense and The Roc/^’ Horror Picture Show. Lori Kay has performed as the show pianist for numerous musicals in central Ohio and around the country. D)ri Kay is also a professional actor and a member of the Actors’ EquipAssociadon. Acdng credits include nadonal and internadonal tours, numerous regional theatre productions, concerts at Carnegie Hall, y\very Fisher Hall, The Kennedy Center, Cincinnad Mu­ sic Hall, and Indianapolis Circle Theatre, Grammy nominated recordings on the TELARC label with the Cincinnad Pops Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Erich Kunzel, and television appearances on Sex and the City, Guiding I.ight, and the Mel Torme Christmas Special. Lori Kay received her bachelor’s degree in Voice and Theatre Performance from the Indiana University School of Music. She is currendy an adjunct faculty member at Otterbein University in the voice and musical theatre departments. Stella Hiatt Kane (Choreographer) has been a faculp- member of the Otterbein Department of Theatre and Dance since 1989 and Director of Dance since 1996, a member of the BalletMet Academy faculty, and the founding ardstic director of JazzMet. Ms. Kane has been a member of the national and internadonal companies of The American Dance Machine and has appeared in the national companies of “Sugar” and Bob Fosse’s “Dancin’.” She has also made television appearances in producdons such as PBS’s “Dance In America” and “The Ann Reinking Special” with Ann Reinking, Chita Rivera and Ben Vereen. Ms. Kane has taught for NewYork’s American Dance Machine/Harkness House and The Actors’ and Directors’ Lab. She has given master classes at The Ohio State University , New York University and has been a master teacher in residence at the Northern Ballet Theatre in Leeds, England. Ms. Kane has also been a guest choreographer for BalletMet, including “Jazz Moves”, “Jazz Moves 2” and most recently, “Jazz Moves Columbus” with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra . Biographies________ Corinnc Porter (Scenic Designer) graduatetl from Otterbein in 2006 as a BFA Design/Tech­ nology major. She then went on to gain her MFA from The Ohio State University in Scenic Design. She is currently a freelance designer and painter and the scenic shop supervisor for the theatre department at Capital University.

Dana White (Lighting Designer) has designed the lighting for several World Premier producdons including Rumdance and Book of Days (Winner; Best New Play 1998, American Theatre Critics), both by Lanford Wilson, Gravity (Pulitzer Nomination) by David MacGregor, Stand

by Toni Press-Coffman, and Guest Artist (1st Runner-up Best New Play 2006) by Jeff Daniels.

He lit liscanaba in da Moonlight, Norma and Wanda and AH Night Strut!, at the Gem Theatre in Detroit, Ml. Credits include: Greater ’Tuna, y\ Tuna Christmas (Contemporary American The­ atre Company); Matchgirl (Columbus Dance Theatre), as well as several works for Otterbein including (recently) The Wild Party, Carnival!, and Pippin. He is a Resident Artist at the Purple Rose Theatre, a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, and a full professor at Otterbein University.

Rebecca White (Costume Designer) joined Otterbein’s faculty in 2007 and teaches courses in Clothing History, Costume Design, and Makeup. Originally from Minnesota, Rebecca holds an MFA from the University of Minnesota, a BS from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse and has worked with The Penumbra Theatre Company, Park Square Theatre, Theatre I’Homme Dieu, The Santa Fe Opera, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, and the Minnesota Centennial Showboat. Here at Otterbein, Rebecca has designed the costumes for productions including Dance 2010, 2011 and 2012, The Understurly, Pippin, Peter Pan, Julius Caesar, A Delicate Balance, and Angels in America. Rebecca extends a huge “Thank You!” to Julia and all of the costume shop students who have given so much of their time and talent bringing Gypsy’s 112 costumes to life.

Natalie Moran (Sound Designer) is a junior BF'A Design/Technology major originally from Pittsburgh. Natalie has worked on several productions at Otterbein including Richard III (Sound Designer), Dance 2012: Spotlight (Assistant Costume Designer), Carnival! (Sound Designer/Al), August: Osage County (Sound Designer), The Storytelling AhHity oj A Boy (Charge Artist), 'The Wild Party (Assistant Charge Artist), Born Yesterday (Sound Designer), and Pippin (Sound Assistant). She also worked as the Sound Designer for the 2011 Otterbein Summer Theatre season. Natalie would like to thank all of her wonderful friends for making her time at Otterbein unforgettable, and her parents for their love, support, and willingness to move her halftt'tiy across the country multiple times.

Abbey Bay (Stage Manager) is a senior Theatre Design/Technology student and this is her last production at Otterbein. She is so thankful for the chance to work closely with this in­ credibly talented cast and watch them bring such a big, crazy show to life! Recent productions include Plow The W'orld Began at Women’s Project Productions, The Robber Bridegroom (workshop) at Roundabout Theatre Compan;', and The Bald Soprano at The Pearl Theatre Company. Abbey will be spending this summer at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival in the Production Adminis­ tration department. She would like to thank the rest of the SM team: Emily, Shelly and Sammie for all their hard work, as well as Derrick, Erin, and Michael for all the extra time they put in to make this production great...you are all FABULOUS! She would also like to send lots of love to her family and friends who have come to see the show, her boyfriend James who has kept her sane throughout this rehearsal process, and Mick, her dtrg, for graciously “’’volunteer­ ing”” to play Chowsie.

Dennis Davenport (Conductor) is Chairperson of Music at Otterbein, and has served as Music Director for the BFA Musical Theatre program. Recent work includes 'The Wild Party, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Nine at Otterbein; O Pioneers! at OSU (keyboards), and Trial By Jury in concert with the Otterbein Singers. During his recent sabbatical, Dennis composed a one-

BIo:^raphIes act opera to a libretto by his spouse Sarah Davenport, entitled Virsl F.iicoiinlers: Isak Dimsen Metis Marilyn Monroe, which was produced by Otterbein University Opera in 2011. Other re­ cent original work includes scores for Brecht’s Galileo at the University of Michigan, and for Brecht’s Caucasian Chalk Circle at Otterbein.

Julia Ferrer! (Costume Shop Supervisor) is excited to be joining the Theatre and Dance De­ partment as the new Costume Shop Supervisor. Before coming to Otterbein, Julia worked for The State University of New York at Potsdam as the Costume Shop Manager. She has also worked at Glimmerglass Opera, The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington DC, The Pennsylva­ nia Shakespeare Festival, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Heritage Theatre, and Berkshire Theatre Festival. Julia received her MFA in Costume Technology from Ohio University-Athens.

Melissa Lusher (Speech & Dialects Coach) teaches Speech and Dialects in the Department of Theatre and Dance at (Jtterbein University, where she is also the resident Speech/Dialects Coach for all produedons. She regularly serves as a guest Dialect Coach at area universities and theatre companies. Recent guest coaching posts include Noises Off at Ohio Wesleyan University, Homebody/Kabul at Denison University, and Hay Fever at the Dublin Abbey Theatre.

Melissa holds an MFA in Acting from the combined program of Carnegie Mellon University and the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia, and a BFA in Acting from Carnegie Mellon. She was a founding company member of the American Studio Theatre in New York City and also served as the company’s resident Voice and Speech Coach. Favorite roles include Barbara in August: Osage County (Otterbein), Goneril in King Ijsar (Actors’ Theatre Company), Marina in Volodya (LaMaMa E.T.C.), Margaret in King Richard III and Emilia in Othello (AST), Clytemnestra in The Creeks (Moscow Art Theatre), and the title role in Miss juUe (CMU). Melissa is a member of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).

Dave Mead (Sound Consultant) has been invftlved in all aspects of entertainment production for the past thirty-eight years. Sound system design has been his specific area of concentration.

Permanent sound system installations like Midland Theatre, (.)tterbein University’s Cowan Hall and the Reece Center at The Ohio State University-Newark are good examples of Mead’s craft. Regional examples include Columbus’ Great Southern Theatre, The Performing Arts Center at Cornerstone Church in Maumee, and the MBI Auditorium at Ohio State University.

As an audio designer for theatrical productions. Mead has worked on national touring produc­ tions of The Fantasticks, and The Great Radio City Music Hall Spectacular. Regionally, Mead has worked as a sound designer for Player’s Theatre, and the Contemporary American The­ atre Company. Mead has served as a sound designer and sound consultant for the Otterbein University Theatre Department for the past twenty years and over 58 different productions.

Notable Otterbein productions include Into The Woods, F.vita, Cabaret, The Wild Party, Jesus Christ Superstar and WAst Side Sto/y. Mead has toured with numerous groups as an audio engineer; tours of note include George Jones, The Bill Gaither Trio, and White Heart. He served as the performance audio engineer for the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra’s Super Pops Series for eleven years. Mead is currently mixing for Jonalee White and Living Water. In addition to au­ dio engineering and design. Mead served as production manager for David Copperfield’s first tour. Mead has spent the past twenty-nine years as a stage manager for the Country Concert festival. He is a regular lecturer at the Recording workshop. Mead is a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 12 in Columbus, Ohio and a 1972 graduate of Miami University. In 2008 Mead stepped down as CEO of Live Technologies, Inc. after founding and leading the company for twent)'three years.

Melinda Murphy (Movement Coach) teaches Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Meth­ od® in the Otterbein Theatre and Dance Department, with application to movement, voice, characterisation, singing, and dance. Melinda is one of the few teachers trained in both meth­ ods; she combines them in her private practice in Columbu.s, and in classes and seminars for

Biographies performing artists at other Ohio colleges. Since coming to Otterbein, she also trained to teach Rtzmaurice Voice work for its specialized tools for improving the voice and breath. Melinda has coached Otterbein productions since the turn of the century. She has also coached ecjuestrians, figure skaters, musicians, and competitive barbershop quartets and choruses including the two-time international gold medalist Southern Gateway Chorus.

Rich Uhrick (Scenic Studio Supervisor) Before his return to his alma mater, he worked in Regional Theatres across the Midwest and New England. He received his Master’s in Theatre Technology from UMKC in 1997. He now lives in Columbus with his wife, Lisa, and his son Michael. They work with Ohio Pug Rescue, to provide abandoned or surrendered dogs foster homes. In addition, they are active foster parents. Rich is also a published poet and newsletter editor for the Columbus Bonsai Society.

Mikayla AgrcUa (Agnes/Holl)'wood Blonde) is beyond thrilled to be speaking her first lines on an Otterbein stage as Agnes/Amanda in this production! A Musical Theatre major from Austin, TX, Mikayla has been seen this year in Carnival! mA Dance: 2012: Spoltigbl. She wants to thank everyone involved in Gypy for a great experience, and sends much love to her class of ‘14. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Charlotte Baird (Child Wrangler) is a senior BA Theatre major. After she graduates in May she hopes to pursue a job as a director or a career in children’s theatre. She thanks her friends (especially her sisters in Kappa Phi Omega) for their support. She also thanks her family for their love and guidance.

Avery Bank (Baby Louise) is in the third grade at New Albany Elementary School. Her theatre credits include Annie (Molly) and The Wind in the Willows - The Musical (The Mole) with CATCO/Phoenix; The Sound of Music (Marta), The Good War (American Girl), and 101 Dalmalions, Jr. (Perdita) with Weathervane Playhouse. She was a finalist in the 2012 Voice of the City Finals. Averj' also dances with Ballet Met. Rachel Bardnell (Animal Wrangler) is excited to be ending her freshman year with such a wonderful opportunity Rachael is a BA Theatre major and Dance minor from Springfield, OH. Otterbein credits include Properties Assistant for Carnival! and Director for Studio 47’s Three Dramas and a Comedy. Emma Brock (Mama Rose) hails from Lansing, ML She couldn’t be more excited to be end­ ing her Otterbein career playing one of the greatest musical theatre roles for women. You might have seen Emma in other great roles at Otterbein such as Rosalie in Carnival!. Sister Mary Hubert in Nunsense. Mrs. Tottendale in The Drowsy Chaperone, Penny in You Can’t Take it With You, Berthe in Pippin, and many more. This past winter, Emma interned with Binder Casting in New York City and plans to move out there in the fall. Gavin Conley (Clarinet Boy, Boy Scout, Newsboy) is a first grade student at Fouse Elemen­ tary in Westerville. He is a dancer at Generations Performing Arts Center and most enjoys his hip hop classes. Gavin also enjoys playing football and basketball.

Mattie Cotter (Rich Man’s Son, Newsboy) is a third grade student at Fouse Elementary in Westerville. He has been dancing at Generations Performing Arts Center since he was four years old and has performed several roles in the 2011 Westerville Christmas Spectacular. Mattie also plays the piano and has performed in the last two Fouse Elementary Talent Shows.

Hayden Clifton (Angie/Newsboy) is a sophomore Musical Theatre major with a Dance concentration from Fort Worth, This is his eighth production here at Otterbein and he couldn t be more excited to be a part of this spectacular show! Courtney Dahl (Holl^'wood Blonde) is excited to be a part of her first musical here at Ot­ terbein! You may have seen Courtney recently in Dance 2012: Spotlight. Her previous credits include Marvin Hamlisch’s Christmas Pops at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Mj Fair l^dy at Lyric Stage. Maria Dalanno (Baby June) is currently enrolled at Straub Dance Center as a competition dancer studying jazz, tap, and ballet. She loves the performing arts and someday hopes to perform on Broadway.

Heather Dell (Hollj-wood Blonde) is a sophomore Musical Theatre major from Santa Bar­ bara, CA. Heather was last seen in the annual dance concert, as Lili in Carnival! and in the ensemble of The Drowsy Chaperone. Kyle Hansen (Character Man) was born and raised in Centerville, OH and is currently a freshman Acting major. Cameron Hobbs (Tulsa) is a senior Musical Theatre major with a Dance concentration from New Albany, IN and is thrilled to be closing his Otterbein career with such a great show, cast, and crew. I will miss you, Otterbein! For Mom. Jared Howelton (Farm Boy/Newsboy) is from San Antonio, TX, and attended the North East School of the Arts where he majored in Musical Theatre. He is so blessed to be a part of the incredible cast of Gypsy. Jared’s freshman year at Otterbein began with Carnival!, and has been an amazing learning experience. Jared would like to thank his wonderful mother, father, and brother for their love and support. Most of all, he would like to thank God for giving him this special gift to tell incredible stories.

Alexander Huffman (Character Man) is honored to be a part of his first main-stage Otter­ bein University Theatre production, especially in his favorite shrtw of all-time. Alexander is a freshman Musical Theatre major, originally hailing from Birmingham, AL. This past fall, he appeared in a workshop (directed by the lovely Emma Brock) of Sondheim’s Company as Paul.

Selected credits include The Producers, Aida, Oklahoma!, Romeo tivJuliet, and The Imaginary Invalid.

Sara Loden (Child Wrangler) is absolutely thrilled to have had the opportunity to get to know the amazingly talented children involved in Gypy. They have brought joy and excitement with them through this process and the enthusiasm within each of them has been an absolute inspiration. She would like to thank everyone who has been supportive ot her throughout her crazy and eventful sophomore year. She would also like to thank God, because He’s been pretty supportive, too. Derrick MePeak (Assistant Set Designer/Props Master) is thrilled to be a part of this amaz­ ing production, Gypsy is one of his favorite stage musicals and he couldn’t be more pleased to serve on the design team. I-le will be graduating in a few weeks and moving to work as a properties artisan for the Utah Shakespeare Festival. He would like to show his love and grati­ tude to everyone who has helped make the last five years an absolute joy. He will greatly miss all of you. Biographies________ Anthony Murphy (Assistant Choreographer) is a sophomore Directing major. He recently worked as Assistant Choreographer tor Stella Kane and Scott Brown in this year’s dance con­ cert. He would like to thank Stella Kane for again giving him the opportunity to learn from her, and to David Caldwell for letting him take part in this amazing production. He would also like to thank all the cast for their hard work and dedication and for being so fierce! And lastly, he would like to thank his family and friends for supporting him in all of his goals and endeavors.

Mary Kate 0*NeiU (Miss Cratchett/Others) feels so blessed that her first mainstage show at Otterbein is with such a beautiful cast and crew telling such an entertaining story! She is a freshman Acting major and was previously cast in a workshop of Company as Amy, directed by Mama Rose herself! She would like to thank her family, who mean more than anything to her, and all her teachers at Otterbein, who have been a true blessing to her this year (not sucking up 1 promise). Mariah Parris (Louise) is a Nashville native and a freshman Musical Theatre major. She is honored to be portraying the accomplished actress, author, business woman, and renowned eedysiast, Gypsy Rose Lee. After learning Lee’s story of struggle, neglect, abuse and eventual triumph over circumstances she never would have chosen for herself, Mariah feels privileged to be a part of the show that continues to share her legacy and story with audience members everywhere. She would like to thank David Caldwell and the faculty for this opportunity, her friends for the joy they bring to her life, and her family for being the most wonderful set of people she could have ever asked for.

Chloe Poulin (Girl, Newsboy) is seven years old and attends Columbus Academy. She is so thrilled to be in her first show ever at Otterbein! You’ll see Chloe in Uncle Jocko’s kid show, as a News Boy and as a Military Kid. Chloe has danced competitively for the last three years and is so grateful for this opportunity. She wishes to thank her family and friends for always supporting her.

Lindsey Rowland (Assistant Costume Designer/Wardrobe Master) is a sophomore with a double major in Theatre and Creative Writing. As her choice in majors would suggest, Lindsey plans on making a career out of playing pretend. Lindsey, who last worked as Assistant Direc­ tor and Dramaturg on King Richanl 111, considers herself very blessed to have this opportunity to learn and explore the world of costumes. Audrey Saltzgiver (Balloon Girl) is a second grade student at Stingcl Primary School in On­ tario, OH. She was last seen on the Otterbein stage as Emmy Helmer in the 2011 production of A Doll's Hoase. She recently performed the role of Mother Goose in her school’s produc­ tion of Jjm/onade. Audrey continues to enjoy dancing with the Ontario Marchers and playing soccer.

Krystal Simpson (Mazeppa) is so glad to be successfully finishing up her second year as a Mu­ sical Theatre major here at Otterbein and is ready to head back to New York for the summer.

Molly Sullivan (Hollywood Blonde) is an Accounting major with a minor in Dance.
