profiles_________________ Ed Vaughan (Director) has been a member of the Otterbein College Department of Theatre and Dance for twenty-seven years. His directing work has encompassed the Greeks to Mamet and Durang, and he lists Sweeney Todd, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Imaginaiy Invalid, Medea, Boy Gets Girl, and The Piano Lesson among his favorites. Drew Cotton (Male Army/ Fight Choreographer) is a junior Musical Theater major and is extremely excited to be involved in such an awesome great experience with these amazing people. His last appearance on the Cowan stage was in Peter Pan, but was most recently a part of Otterbein Summer Theater’s production ol Indian Blood (Mr. Kenyon/Uncle Paul). This is his first time doing the fight choreography for a show and wants to thank the cast from the bottom of his heart for their constant hard work and Ed for giving him such an amazing opportunity and for trusting in his image. He also wants to thank his parents for their love; his brothers for being his inspiration; Barbara for keeping him happy; Nate for letting him talk fights for hours; and the class of ‘ 10 for their sarcasm. “Death Is Temporary, Love is Forever” -SW. Dan Gray (Scenic Designer) happily returns to Otterbein for this production of Julius Caesar. Other recent Otterbein credits include Prelude to a Kiss, Black Comedy and Blithe Spirit. Dan’s regional theatre credits include numerous designs for; The George Street Playhouse, Capital Rep, Players Theatre Columbus, the Delaware Theatre Company (Wilmington, DE), CATCO and the Human Race Theatre Co. (Dayton). He also designs for many Central Ohio companies including BalletMet, Opera Columbus, The Dayton Ballet, Red Herring Theatre Company, Phoenix Theatre Circle, The Columbus Symphony, Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra and The Columbus Zoo. Dan is the Resident Scenic Designer and an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University Department of Theatre. Rebecca White (Costume Designer) is Otterbein’s faculty costume designer. Within the Department, Rebecca teaches classes in Costume Design, Technology, and Makeup. Rebecca holds an MFA from the University of Minnesota, and a BS from the University of Wiscon­ sin, LaCrosse. Originally from Minnesota, Rebecca has done design work for The Penumbra Theatre Company, Park Square Theatre, Theatre I’Homme Dieu, and the Minnesota Centen­ nial Showboat. Rebecca’s work has also been seen at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, The Trinity Repertory Company, and the Santa Fe Opera. Previously at Otterbein Rebecca has designed the costumes for Peter Pan, Proof, and The Caucasian Chalk Circle and will be designing An Absolute Turkey and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 2009. Elliot France (Lighting Designer) graduated from Otterbein in 2005 with a BFA degree in Design/Technology, with an emphasis in Lighting Design and Stage Management. These days, he works as the senior lighting director for Mills/James Productions here in Columbus. In the three years since he graduated, Elliot has been fortunate to continue working with Otterbein. As a stage manager, he has worked on The Merchant of Venice and 42nd Street. As a lighting designer, he has worked on Necessaiy Targets, And Baby Makes Seven, and this production ofJulius Caesar. Recently, Elliot celebrated his one year wedding anniversary with his lovely wife, and fellow Otterbein grad, Christina. “Thank you so much for your love and support. ____ profiles Peter Sichko (Sound Designer) is a senior Design/Tech major from Grandview Heights, Ohio and is designing his final show here at Otterbein. His past Otterbein credits include Flight Director for Peter Pan, Soimd Designer for Miss Witherspoon, Sound Operator for Urinetown, Hello, Dollyl, and While We Were Bowling, and Master Electrician for Gotta Dance. Peter would like to thank Dave and Dana for all of their advice and support during the past tliree years. He would also like to thank Jack for doing such a great job! Finally, he would like to thank his parents, both of his brothers, and all of his friends and family for their constant support. Amber Lewandowski (Stage Manager) is a senior BA Theatre major from Amherst, OH, and is thankful to have had the opportunity to stage manage this amazing cast and fruly epic production. Her recent stage management credits include The Davis Performing Arts Program’s production oiIsabella e la Bestia, and assisting on Otterbein’s Fall 2007 produc­ tion of Urinetown, and Spring 2008 classroom project Civil Disobedience. After graduation. Amber hopes to work in the stage management of Deaf Theatre. She would like to thank her talented cast, crew, and production staff for all of their hard work, and her fellow stage management “A-Team” for their continued dedication, professionalism, and passion that it took to keep everything running smoothly. “Break a leg everyone, and don’t drop your weapon!” Marcia Hain (Costume Shop Supervisor) has been a member of the Otterbein Theatre Tech Staff since 1989. She runs the costume shop full time and has also designed for the produc­ tions of Dance 2008: Encore!, Urinetown, The Spitfire Grill, Private Lives, Hello, Dolly!, Harvey, Ddcacc 2QQ6\ Street Pest, You'reA GoodMan Charlie Brown,Diince 2005: Passions, The Ugly Duckling + 2, The Music Man, Schoolhouse Rock, Live!, The Mystery ofEdwin Drood, A Guy, A Girl and Gershwin, Blithe Spirit, The Secret Garden, Oklahoma, Hay Fever, Dance 2000, Pinocchio, How The Other HalfLoves, Once Upon A Mattress, 1776, A Few Good Men, and Sherlock’s Last Case. She also served as Associate Designer for Phantom. Ms. Hain has an extensive background in Home Economics, as well as commercial

costuming and free-lance design and construction. Melissa Lusher (Speech Coach) teaches speech, dialects, and theatre history in the Depart­ ment of Theatre and Dance at Otterbein College, where she is also the resident speech/ dialects coach for all productions. In addition, she regularly serves as a guest dialect coach at area universities and theatre companies. Recent guest coaching posts include Noises Off at Ohio Wesleyan University, Homebody/Kabul at Denison University, and Hay Fever at the Dublin Abbey Theatre. Melissa holds an M.F.A. in Acting from the combined program of Carnegie Mellon University and the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia and a B.F.A. in Acting from Carnegie Mellon. She was a founding company member of the American Studio Theatre in New York City and also served as the company's resident voice and speech coach. Mel­ issa performs regularly with Actors ’ Theatre Company (Goneril in King Lear, Maria in Twelfth Night, and multiple roles in Measure for Measure). Other favorite roles include Marina in Volodya (LaMama E.T.C.), Margaret in Ric/iar^f///and Emilia in Othello (AST), Clytemnestra in The Greeks (Moscow Art Theatre), and the title role in Miss Julie (CMU). Melissa is a member of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).


profiles_________________ Melinda Murphy (Movement Coach) teaches Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Mediod® in the Otterbein Theatre and Dance Department, with application to movement, voice, char­ acterization, singing, and dance. Melinda is one of the few teachers trained in both methods; she combines them in her private practice in Columbus, and in classes and seminars for performing artists at other Ohio colleges. Since coming to Otterbein, she also trained to teach Fitzmaiurice Voicework for its specialized tools for improving the voice and breath. Melinda has coached Otterbein productions since the turn of the century. She has also coached equestrians, figure skaters, musicians, and competitive barbershop quartets and chomses including the two-time international gold medalist Southern Gateway Choms. Rich Uhrick (Scene Shop Supervisor) worked in regional theatres across the Midwest and New England before returning to his alma mater, Otterbein. These theatres include Actors Theatre of Louisville, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre (at UMKC), and The Court Theatre in Chicago. He received his Master’s in Theatre Technology from UMKC in 1997. He now lives in Columbus with his wife, Lisa. They work with Ohio Pug Rescue and Pet Promise to provide abandoned or surrendered dogs with foster homes. Rich is a published poet and newsletter editor for the Columbus Bonsai Society. Emily Asbury (Portia) is ajunior Acting major fromBarboursville, WV. She has previously appeared in Peter Pan (Mrs. Darling), The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Governor's Wife and others), and Urinetown. Other credits include Into The Woods (Baker's Wife) at Columbus Children's Theatre and many, many student directed workshops here at Otterbein. She would like to thank her parents, the fabulous BFA class of '09, John and Jan, Ed for all of his guidance this quarter, and all of the other wonderful teachers and directors who have sup­ ported her over the years. “It's the day of the show, y'all!” Leon Axt (Julius Caesar) is a sophomore BFA Acting major. This is his third show here at Otterbein. He considers himself exceptionally lucky to be playing the part of Julius Caesar, and has only one regret. With great power, comes great hair loss. Leon mourns the loss of his 8 year long locks, as they will be sadly missed. Leon has also played the part of Simon Shashava in The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and in the play Civil Disobedience, he portrayed multiple characters, including Robbie and Bogart. In a more overtly wanton mood, he has also played the God of Death, Papa Ge, in the musical. Once On This Island, and portrayed the cocl^ Frenchman, Chauvelin, in The Scarlet Pimpernel. Leon would like to thank you for seeing the show, but mostly he would like to relay to you a message. “Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls would scarcely get your feet wet. Fall not in love, therefore; it will stick to your face.” Jordan Bartz (Male Army) is a sophomore Musical Theatre major from Helena, MT. He was been a part of Peter Pan and will be appearing in Dance 2009: To Each His Own winter quarter here at Otterbein. Also, he has performed the roles ofTevye m Fiddler On The Roof, Lord Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, and Charlie Gordon from Flowers for Algernon among many others. He would like to thank his Mom, Dad and Sister for thier constant support and love; and also, the class of 2011 and all his great friends here at Otterbein and back home! “Enjoy the show!”


_________________ profiles Andrew Betz (Male Army) is ajunior Musical Theatre major from Haddon Heights, NJ. He is thrilled to appear in his first main stage drama at Otterbein AND his first Shakespeare ever, having last appeared in Peter Pan as Twin 1. Thanks to Ed, Melinda, Melissa, Drew, Amber, cast and crew. A special “Zabba!” to the charming and talented BFA Class of 2010 and his faraway family. Jen Drunker (Mamllus) is ajunior BFAacting major from Cincinnati and is delighted to be a part of Julius Caesar. She has also appeared on the Otterbein stage in The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Ruth Berlau/ensemble), as well as several workshop performances. She would like to thaiik her mother for her boundless love and support; her crazy talented class of ’ 10 for being her home away from home; the lovely ladies of ID for being her sisters; Trenton for keeping her sane; and finally the incredible cast and crew of Caesar for all of their hard work. Steve Czarnecki (Marc Antony) is a senior Musical Theatre major from Rochester Hills, MI. He is thrilled to be a part of this bold new take on Julius Caesar. This summer Steve had the opportunity to work at the TONY Award winning Utah Shakespearean Festival performing in Othello and as the Constable in Fiddler On The Roof. Previous Otterbein credits include Officer Lockstock in Urinetown, Sheriff Joe Sutter in The Spitfire Grill, and Stickpin in While We Were Bowling. Steve would like to thank John and Jan, the class of2009, the Shivener’s, Liz, and of course. The Circus. “Enjoy the show!” Melissa Fults (Cinna) is a sophomore BFAActing major all the way fromAloha, OR, making her Otterbein main stage debut. She is glad to have had such a great first experience in this show and would like to thank her friends for helping her through it. She would also like to thank her family for their support and knows they're here with her in spirit. Kate Gosnell (Metellus Cimber) is ajunior BFAMusical Theatre major fromBelding, MI. profiles_________________ Sarah Hiance (Trebonius), a native of Fort Thomas, KY, is blessed to be performing her last show here at the OC with such a wonderful cast of characters. She’s a senior Musical Theatre major with a concentration in Dance who toured last fall with C.A.P.A., Opera Colum­ bus, and The Phoenix Children’s Theatre’s collaborative bi-lingual production of The Secret Garden. (The show was performed in spoken English and ASL.) In the show, Sarah played Lily Craven, and voiced for the deaf actor playing Mary Lenox. The show recently won “The Central Ohio Critics Award”, and was nominated for the “2008 Artistic Excellence Award”. Other past credits include: Regional summer stock work at Timer’s Dinner Theatre, Dolly Levi {Hello Dolly,) April (Company,) Tuptim (The King and /,) and Rizzo (Grease). Thanks to Ed for an amazing last show; the wickedly talented class of ’09; and finally the stunning and supportive Hiance family that is my rock, soul, and foundation. Jackson Hille (Citizen/Male Army) is a junior Acting major who is just absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of such a visceral, exhilarating, and inspired production of one of his favorite plays. He has also been seen on Otterbein's main-stage as Slightly Soiled iaPeter Pan. Other credits include Cal Jarret in Ordinary People, Peter Quince inA Midsum­ mer Night's Dream, and E.K. Hombeck in Inherit the Wind He would like to thank Ed for this opportunity; his family for their support and guidance; ChumbaWumba; and the brothers of Pi Beta Sigma for always coming through with his side of FUN-NAH! Amanda Huxtable (Decius Brutus) is a junior BFA Musical Theatre major from London, Ontario, Canada. Otterbein credits include: Hello, Dolly!, Urinetown: The Musical, Cauca­ sian Chalk Circle, Peter Pan, and a workshop piece: The Bone Violin. This summer, Amanda spent a life changing ten weeks as a resident company member at Music Theatre of Wichita in Kansas (My Fair Lady, Big River, All Shook Up, Les Miserables). Amanda is honored to start the year off back at Otterbein with the fearless and talented cast and crew of Julius Caesar. “As always, love and gratitude to the ones who make my life worth living: Mum, my family, the hooligans at 59 Sexy, Dole, the class of 2010, and my faraway lifelines from Canada and MTW.” Justin Keller (Male Army) is a Junior BFA Musical Theatre major from Chapin, SC. His previous Otterbein credits include Dance Concert 2007: Encore, Dance Concert 2008: Gotta Dance, and various ensemble roles. Some other favorites include The Importance ofBeing Earnest (Algernon), and Twelfth Night (Feste). He spent this past summer at Park Playhouse in Albany, NY acting as a performer and dance captain for their production of West Side Story. He would like to thank Lord above for all of his gracious gifts, his family and friends, the FIERCE 10, the Critage; and he dedicates this performance to all of the rainbows in heels. “Work It OUT Girls” Nathan Keen (Lucius/Male Army) is a Junior BFA Musical Theatre major with a concentra­ tion m Dance from Birmingham, MI. This is Nathan’s first ever Shakespeare production! Previous Otterbein Theatre credits include Bamaby (Hello Dolly!), Tiny Tom (Urinetown: The Musical), Indian (Peter Pan), and a featured Dancer (Encore and Gotta Dance!). Favor­ ite roles include The Little Boy (Ragtime original cast of the National Tour), and Gavroche (Les Miserables National Tour and Broadway). Thanks to Ed for his vision, and this amazing show; and thanks to the cast and crew for making it such an incredible experience. _________________ profiles Lee Kociela (Male Army), a transfer student from Cal State Fullerton, is currently a BFA Acting major and Dance minor here at Otterbein. Lee was bom and raised in Southern California where he attended the Orange County H.S. of the Arts as a Drama major. There he worked with such notables as Susan Egan and Matthew Morrison. Some of Lee's favorite roles are Mark in The Shadow Box and Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. He wishes to thank the class of 2011 for being a true family in this, his home away from home, and the Theatre and Dance Department faculty for always being a beacon of light in the midst of our colle­ giate journey. “And lastly, to the fit freaks, you know who you are. One More Rep!” Claire Longest (Casca) is completing her final term at OC as a senior BFA Musical Theatre/ Dance major from New Albany, IN as she returns from spending the summer working at Walt Disney World! Last year she was seen as Peter Pan in Peter Parr, Little Sally in Urinetown, and in Gotta Dance! Other Otterbein shows include: Mirmie Fay in Hello, Dolly, Jenny in Company, 42nd Street, and 2006, 2007 Dance Concerts. She has performed in numerous productions at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Derby Dirmer Playhouse, and Music Theatre of Louisville along with playing Evelyn Nesbit in the National Student Cast oiRagtime. Thank you to Ed, Melissa, and Melinda for such an empowering production! Mom, and Dadthanks for supporting me, and for sending me to Otterbein... all my love. Class of'09, intern­ ships “Here we come!” Josh Mahaffey (Pindarus and Male Army) is a junior BEAActing major and he's thrilled to be working on this visceral and yet thought-provoking show. This will be Josh's 4th perfor­ mance on Otterbein's mainstage; he has performed in Dance Concert 2007: Encore!, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and Peter Pan before this. Josh was also seen as Lambert in Indian Blood this past summer here at Otterbein. Before College, Josh attended the two year pre-professional theatre program at Fort Hayes High School, where he did numerous shows including A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Madwoman of Chaillot, and The Scarlet Pim­ pernel. He would like to thank his family and friends, all those in the BBTC, his lady Megan, and all of his Pi-Sig brothers. Josh would like to dedicate this performance to the memory of Ms. Kathy Wallace. Jihad Milhem (Calpumia) is a junior Acting major from Columbus. Jihad is excited to make his first appearance on the Cowan stage. He has previously been seen at Otterbein in Proof, The Spitfire Grill, and The Batting Cage. Just recently Jihad finished filming a student film due to come out next spring called Her Turn to Die. He would like to thank Ed for his guidance and patience, his fellow cast mates for the good times, and the technical crew for all their hard work and skill. Jihad owes a debt of gratitude to his beautiful girlfriend, Sam, his wonderful family, glorious friends, and his 100 year-old brothers at Pi Beta Sigma. “Happy Hundredth and Long live Caesar!” Caitlin Morris (Brutus) is a senior Acting major from St. Petersburg, FL. Recent Otterbein credits include Martha in Who’s Afi-aid of Viiginia Woolf? andVewnica in Miss Witherspoon. Caitlin is both honored and utterly thrilled to be under the guidance of the brilliant, enlight­ ening Ed Vaughan for this, her first Shakespeare show. This dynamic and challenging pro­ duction has been made all the more gratifying by the supportive interaction of this superb cast, the organized, caring A-Team (Amber, Allie and Alisa), and, of course, the Mels. Caitlin would like to thank Ed for being, not only an inspiring teacher and director, but also an incredible mentor and friend. “Thank you for never allowing me to settle.” She also gives huge thanks to her incomparable family, her ridiculous roomies at 59 Sexy, Nick for being there at the end of every day, and the indescribably fabulous class of '09.


profiles_________________ Jason Newsom (Soothsayer) is a junior BFA Acting major from Louisville, KY. His previous Otterbein credits include Caligula workshop (Lucius), Dance Concert 2007: Encore (Dancer), Proo/workshop (Robert), and Peter Pan (Pirate). Some other favorites include The Wizard ofOz (Lion), Beauty and the Beast (Cogsworth), Show Boat (Captain Andy), and Cinderella (Ugly Stepsister). He graduated from the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville major­ ing in voice and minoring in musical theatre. He would also like to thank his brothers at Pi Beta Sigma for supporting Barak Obama. “100 more years of awesome.” Jonathan Seiler (Master Electrician) is gomg into his sophomore year here at Otterbein College. After finishing his freshman year with production assignments including Assistant Wardrobe Master for Caucasian Chalk Circle, Light Board operator for Dance 2008: Gotta Dance, Flight Operator for Peter Pan, and wardrobe run crew for Urinetown, he looks forward to his crew assignments this year. Jon will be Assistant Stage Manager for this year’s dance concert, then Assistant Lighting designer for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, followed by Assistant Technical Director for Nine. Elizabeth Shivener (Cassius) is a senior Musical Theatre major from Reynoldsburg. Some past Otterbein credits include Company (Amy), Hello, Dolly! (Irene Malloy), Urinetown (Little Becky Two-Shoes), The Batting Cage (Julianna), Indian Blood (Jane) and My Way. She would like to thank the cast and the A-Team for being so much fun and Eddy for teaching her to act for the past three years. He will be excitedly returning in the winter to start his senior internship with April Webster Casting in Hollywood (The casting offices for the TV. show "Lost"). He has recently been seen in Peter Pan, with college credits including Tartuffe and Urinetown. He would like to thank his family for their patience and support, his friends and co-artists in the department, and the brothers of Pi Beta Sigma Fraternity who celebrate their 100th Year Anniversary this year. Before coming to Otterbein, she was seen in The Crucible as Abigail, A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Titania, See How They Run as Penelope, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Mrs. Potiphar. She is a graduate of Fort Hayes’ Black Box Theatre Co and owes a lot to Steve Black. Thanks to him, her family, her Violets, and most importantly XOX and the KSB. “Epic Boosh!!!’’ Caroline Whetzel (Caesar’s Servant) is a junior BFA acting major from Louisville, KY and is thrilled to be a part oi Julius Caesar. Most recently Caroline has been seen in Peter Pan (Michael), and a workshop production ofProo/(Catherine). Caroline would like to thank her family for their continued love and support. Past favorite roles include: Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Crystal in Little Shop ofHorrors, the Fairy Godmother in Cinderedna, personify­ ing a tyraimosaurus rex, and making Mrs. Trotsky sexy.
