DIRECTORS LLOYD K. LEWIS, Executive Director of the Columbus Junior Theatre of the Arts, graduated from Otterbein with o B.A. in Theatre, an M.A. from OSU and has completed work toward his Ph.D. at OSU. He taught at Springfield High School for 13 years and subsequently taught at Evanston Township High School and Butler University. He has choreographed several musicals at Otterbein including the USO Tour production of The Boy Friend in 1964. He has staged more than 40 musicals including The Fontosticks and You re A Good tAon, Charlie Brown at Otterbein Summer Theatre. JOANNE VAN SANT is Dean of Students at Otterbein. A native Kentuckian, she holds a B.A. degree from Denison University with an M.A. from Ohio State. She began teaching at Otterbein in 1948 and has served actively as choreographer or assistant choreographer in every musical since, including Knickerbocker Holiday, The Student Prince, Oklahoma!, Brigadoon in 1956 and 1967, Carousel, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, Camelot, Fiddler on the Roof, Canterbury Tales, Kiss Me Kate
and last year’s production of
Cabaret,
LYLE BARKHYMER, Professor of woodwinds, conducting and music history, is a native Penn sylvanian. He is a graduate of Otterbein with M.M. and D.M. degrees from Indiana University. He was a scholarship student at Chautauqua, New York, and has been a member of Pittsburgh’s Waterfront American Wind Symphony. FRED THAYER, designer-technical director at Otterbein since 1960, was graduated from Bowling Green State University with an M.A. in Theatre. He has designed for the University of Toledo, Bowling Green and the Huron Playhouse. Last year he studied design and production with Jo Mielziner and Lester Polakov. DENNIS KRATZER, Director of Choral and Vocal Music came to Otterbein from Ohio Northern University. He received his B.A. and M.A. from Bowling Green State University. PETIE DODRILL, is a costume designer and Children’s Theatre director at Otterbein, has a B.A, degree from Penn State and an M.A. from Ohio University. She is also a part-time drama teacher at Gahanna Lincoln High School. JAMES AVIDON, Instructor of Theatre at Otterbein College who has an M.F.A. from Brooklyn College, CUNY and has directed in the Otterbein Summer Theatre and on Cowan stage. He has also designed Move Over Mrs. Markham and Scapin. BETH KENDIG is a graduating senior at Otterbein. While at Otterbein, Beth has worked costume crews as a student assistant, designed productions at Otterbein and the Sabina Barn Theatre.
