hen the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention get tossed out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love… proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, an exotic disguise and some good old-fashioned blackmail. Peppering this timeless classic are some of musical theatre’s most memorable standards, including “I Get A Kick Out Of You,” “You’re the Top,” and of course, “Anything Goes.” Don’t miss what the AP exclaims as, “So DELIGHTFUL, So DELICIOUS, So DE-LOVELY!”

no matter how difficult things may seem,

it gets better...

I

n 2010, a single video posted on the internet to offer hope to young people struggling with their sexuality inspired a world-wide sensation. Now a live performance sharing the message of hope, It Gets Better is infused with the dynamic musical energy of The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and the internationally recognized branding of the It Gets Better Project. It Gets Better provides a performing arts response to the difficult issue of bullying, one of the most challenging issues among today’s young adults and adolescents. It Gets Better is upbeat, exciting, and funny with a narrative that includes moments of pain and pathos. By tackling broader issues of tolerance and diversity, the work reminds us all that it does, indeed, get better. A collaboration between the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, Speak Theater Arts, and the It Gets Better Project.

Reaching for the Stars “Reach high, for the stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.”

- PAMELA VAULL STARR

As was the case in the late 1920s, we are reaching out to students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff, townspeople, corporations and foundations to be part of supporting Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium and its ongoing programming, a building and series that has served as our community’s gathering place for many decades.

A Wall of Stars Donations of $2000 and above will be recognized with a star bearing the donor’s name. You can also use the star as a way to remember your parents, children, grandchildren, a favorite professor, a spouse or significant other, an organization, or a business as a memorial, tribute, or gesture of appreciation. We will highlight the generosity of our shining stars by engraving the names of the persons being honored on our wall of stars in the North Lobby. This unique method of recognition will allow TempletonBlackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium guests to acknowledge those who support the arts and student programming in the Athens community.
