Her Story Elsie Marie Jones affectionately known as “Mickey” was born in Linden, Texas on August 14, 1931, raised by her parents, Lucille and Spelling Mack, along with brothers and sisters, Leoanteen, Emmanuel, Burke Charles, Dorothy Nell, Maurice, Leonard, Peggy and Joyce. She passed peacefully and ascended to Glory to meet her Holy Father on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. As a teenager, she moved to California where she resided with her Aunt Velma and Uncle AC Walters.
Elsie graduated from Manual Arts High School. She completed Nursing School and worked several years at Mt. Sinai Hospital as a Nurse. She later changed careers and worked as Quality Control Lab Tech at Frito Lay Inc. She retired in 1984, after which she joined the LAPD Community Police, where she volunteered many hours of community service.
Elsie and LeRoyal Alvin Jones were joined in Holy Matrimony on January 17, 1958. To this union a baby girl was born Regenia Jones. After marrying, they resided on 105th street where they became early members of East 105th Street Christian Church within the first year of the church’s establishment, around 1958, where she remained an active servant for the remainder of her life. She was a faithful member of the Usher Board and also founded the Jr. Usher Board (which was her passion), she was a member of the fifty-five and older club, Deaconess, Trustee and Pastor’s Aide ministries.
Her love and legacy lives on through her loving husband of 57 years, LeRoyal; her daughter, Regenia; her brother, Leonard “Boot” Mack (Eunice) and her sisters, Peggy Villa and Joyce Mack, sister-in-law; Gail Wilson and brother-in-law; Burrell Jones She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family members and friends. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. "She always said she had one child, but many children." She was preceded in death by her parents Lucille and Spelling Mack; Brothers, Emmanuel and Maurice; sisters, Leoanteen, and Dorothy Nell. “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” -John 11:25-26

A Love That Will Never Die
Elsie Marie Jones August 14. 1931

Safely Home I am home in heaven, dear ones; oh, so happy and so bright! There is a perfect joy and beauty in the everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand, do it now, while life remained– you shall rest in God’s own land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home; oh, the rapture of that meeting oh, the joy to see you come! Elsie Marie Jones August 14. 1931
