His Story James Nicholson was born to the union of the late Lonnie and Margaret Robb Nicholson on February 10, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana. On June 19, 1960, James married his high school sweetheart, and the love of his life, Janice Williams Nicholson. To this union of over 54 years, three children were born. Brother James surrendered his life to Christ and was baptized by his uncle, Reverend George King, at Clio Place Baptist Church at the age of 11. James was the transportation driver and janitor for the church. It was at Clio where he first started his journey as a Deacon. After moving his membership to Pleasant Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Brother Nicholson was asked to be a member of their deacon board. All together, he served as a deacon for over 35 years. In 2010, Deacon James Nicholson, was chosen as The Man of the Year. His Favorite Scriptures were 2 Timothy 4:5-8 and Psalms 23. James was educated in the Orleans Parish School system. He attended Fisk Elementary, McDonogh 35 and George Washington Carver High Schools. James was a very hard worker and provider for his family. He had a Landscape business for many years; and later he became an accomplished baker and mixer at McKenzie’s Bakery for over 35 years. He implemented many techniques to enhance the quality and flavor of the famous buttermilk drops and glazed doughnuts. He was also famous for making peach cobbler and croissants for family and church functions. James is preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Sockwell, Rosemary Miller, Eddie And Louis King; Father-in-Law, Clarence Williams, Sr.; Motherin-Law, Martha Williams; 2 Brothers-in-Law, Clarence, Jr. and Dudley Williams. James Nicholson was received in the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Ochsner Hospital, surrounded by his family, friends, and pastor. He is survived by his wife Janice; their 3 children: Della Reese, Sandra Anne and Dwayne Anthony (Brenda) Nicholson; 1 brother: Lionel Nicholson; 1 sister: Clementine Mimms of Little Rock, AR; 4 Brothers-n-law: Sidney, Joseph (Cynthia), Nathaniel and Chester (Kara) Williams (NOLA); 8 Sisters-n-law: Carolyn (Henry) Robinson and June (Joseph) Rogers of Chicago, IL, MaryAnn Hubbard of Indian Land, SC, Rhonda Bradford of Oklahoma City, OK, Cynthia (Keith) Morris of Elizabeth City, NC, Martha Williams, Jerri (Jerry) Guillard, Faye Matthews of NOLA; 3 Grandsons: Kevin Washington, Jr., Dwayne Jr. and Lun James Nicholson; 4 Great Grandchildren: Kevin and Kyran Washington, Amari and Khloe Nicholson; Family, Friends, Pleasant Zion Missionary Baptist Church Members and a host of others.

you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
