Memories

Missing You…

No “Farewell” words were spoken. No time to say good-bye. You were gone before we knew it. And only God knows why. Our hearts still ache in sadness. And secret tears sill flow. What it meant to lose you. No one will ever know…

My Promise… I’m George Leon Alfred Rowel but everybody calls me Doody, Doody Brown or Doody Smoody. I come here today to talk about my mom’s promise before she died. Now the first thing she told me before she died was take care of my two little brothers, Kani Rowel and Sidney James Scott, Jr. Now how do I take care of my brothers? The first step is I iron their clothes. I don’t care if it’s jeans, uniform pants or shorts. I iron their clothes because they are too young to iron and my mother doesn’t want Kani to iron at a young age. The second step is I help Kani take a bath every night. I teach him how to bathe himself, then when he’s done, he gets out of the tub and I teach him how to dry himself off. Then I make him put on his own clothes. Then after he finishes with his clothes, I teach him how to wash the tub. I tell him step by step how to wash the tub. The third thing my mom told me before she died was to stop being mean to Kani. Now I promised her I would stop being mean to Kani. I will let him play the game, whatever game he wants, I will let him come in my room and sleep if he wants. If he wants anything fixed, I will do it for him. The last, but not least, thing my mother told me before she died was to do good in school. Now she told me she wants me to be successful in life. She said she wants me to go to college to get a good education, and get a good job and if I put my mind to it, I would get it right the first time. Then she told me when I get to high school, the teachers are not going to play with me. SO… when you have a test, you have to really study or you will fail. So mom, I am promising you that I will do everything that I promised you I would do. I am going to miss you very much. You are in a better place than this bad city. God is going to take real good care of you and papa Alfred. You are not in pain or suffering anymore. I will take good care of my little brothers and treat them like they are supposed to be treated. Love always and forever, Your son, George Leon Alfred Rowell
