Her Story “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet water. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3

God saw the road was getting rough and the hills too hard to climb. He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered, “Peace be thine.” On January 30, 2015, at 1:30 p.m., Mary Eleanor Gibson answered God’s call. Mary Martin was born July 4, 1926, in Plaquemine, LA. She was the fourth of six children born to the late Theophile Martin, Sr., and Mary Pernell Martin. Mary graduated from Iberville High School. She worked many years as a domestic worker. She met and married the late Leon Gibson. This union was blessed with five children; Aston Michael Charleen, Shelia, Leon and Mark. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Theophile, Sr. and Mary Martin; one son, Aston Michael Gibson; four brothers, Lawrence, Edward, Richard and Theophile Martin, Jr. and one sister, Ethel O’Brien. Mary leaves to cherish in memory her children, Charleen, Shelia, Leon and Mark; two grandsons, Derrick and Devon Robertson; six great grandchildren, Jayshawn, Derrionne, DJ, Jasmone, Derrielle and Dorian. Also a host of other relatives and friends.
