N.B. “Nate” Ball Alpha: October 25, 1947 * Omega: December 19, 2020
N.B. “Nate“ Ball N.B. was the first-born born to the late Eudean and Emily Ball on October 25, 1947, in Franklinton, Louisiana. The family of three soon moved to New Orleans. N B accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Holy Family Spiritualist Church. On the first day of grammar school, N B’s teacher said, “There’s no way you can grow up with initials as your name!" She actually gave him the name Nathaniel, and that’s what stuck! N B was affectionately known as Nathaniel, and nicknamed "Nate," ever since. The family lived in New Orleans until Nate was 14 years old. Emily Ball moved her two children Nate and Doris, to Memphis Tennessee, and then to Chicago to live with their Aunt Carrie and Uncle Roosevelt for a while. As a teenager in Chicago, Nate worked as a bellman at a well-known hotel. Nate and Doris rejoined Emily and relocated to Los Angeles California when Nate was almost 17 years old.
Nate fell in love and married Delores Salter in Mexico in 1966 and soon after they welcomed their daughter, Ninetta. Later, Nate fell in love with Jacqueline Pleasant and welcomed a son, and named him Raymond. In 1972, Nate married Regina Garcia and soon welcomed his youngest daughter, Travette. Nate was known to many as a jokester and the life of a party. In his latter days in the convalescent home, Nate loved visits from family and he always requested they bring him fried chicken. On first Sundays, he looked forward to receiving communion from his younger sister Doris and brother-in-law James. N.B. transitioned in his sleep under COVID-19 related complications on December 23, 2020, at Manchester Manor Convalescent Home. He was 73 years old. N.B's parents Eudean and Emily, precede him in death. He is survived by his siblings, Doris Dear (James, brother-in-law ) and Nancy Donaldson; his three children, Ninetta Ball-Smith (Lamont, son-in-law), Raymond Ball (Tachescha, daughter-in-law), and Travette Ball; his grandchildren, Amber Ball, Dennis Frazier, and Brianna Brown; Natashia Shaqyia Ball, Sat'yee Powell, Keizhane Powell, Krystal Ball, Raymond Ball II, and Raymonni Ball; his great-grandchildren, Austin Fraizer and Aaliyah Frazier; Christopher Michael Palmer and Ce'veon Myzel Palmer; Jayden Brown, A'layah Powell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

My mind knows you are in a better place Where there is no pain you are at peace. I understand that, I just wish I could explain it to my heart. There is an empty space in it that nothing will ever fill. I grieve, but I know my tears are for me. Until we meet again, I love and miss you.
From your daughter, Travette
WORDS OF INSPIRATION AND POEMS

are never perfect, but that doesn’t mean we cannot find a way to make it across the tumultuous seas onto the shores of love and life. It is our family prayer and desire that we come to know the purpose that God has ordained for our life. Before we were born, God anticipated our arrival and had a specific plan for us. And with that plan it sometimes involves dealing with obstacles because that’s how character is developed. We believe the mark of a successful person is his or her ability to see problems as opportunities instead of obstacles. And that most important lesson takes place not when we celebrate the good times but persevere during the bad times. Indeed, that’s why the bad times make the good times so good. So, our family wants to leave you with these parting words.
“When life knocks you down, get back up, because during difficult times we learn some of life greatest lessons through sheer determination and perseverance.” Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; Love you N.B. from your Sister and Brother-in-law Doris and James Dear
