IN!

His Journey His Light Will Shine Forever… On November 6, 1952, a fisherman was born to Ruby Nell Davis and Al Benson, in Prentise, Mississippi. After graduating from Prentise High School in 1971, he set forth his journey to New Orleans, LA. Hank was baptized at an early age where he attended Harvest Missionary Baptist Church. He later joined Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph L. Hampton, and served there until his death. Hank served in several ministries of the church including the Deacon Board. Hank retired from RTA Transit after 30 years of driving street cars and being an instructor. After retirement, Hank enjoyed his hobbies of fishing with neighbor Albert Dase, Sr., his grandson, Timothy “Homie” Cousins and Johnny Smith. Hank always though he was the best at shooting pool, but Larry Dixon made him back down. Johnny Alexander is going to miss showing Hank his gardening skills. His “Man Cave” buddy David Anderson will now have to figure out who is going to take him under their wings. He looked up to Hank as his dad for many years. Last but not least, his extended family, the Alexanders, that loved him so. The Lakers were his favorite team, but those Saints kept him fired up! Marvin Stevens and Michael Dabney will miss those phone calls after each Saints game because he just knew the officials called bad fouls. Hank will be missed by so many people and many of us today will remember something that he said or did that we can smile about for years to come. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Nell Davis; grandmothers, Annie Mae Benson and Lula Mae Davis; grandfathers, Steve Benson and S. D. Davis; aunts, Rosetta Lockhardt, Essie Mae Ross, Queen Taylor, Zella Mae McGee, Desiree Maxwell and Ruth Perkins; Sisters, Joyce Jacobs; Brothers, Calvin Benson and Ron Davis and uncles, Gary Benson and Charles Davis. Hank leaves to cherish precious memories, his adoring wife of 31 years, Yolanda R. Davis; five children, Kedrick “Roy” Bias, Sr., Keoka Bias, Simeon Ranson, LaTonya Ranson and Gabriel Bias; his father, Al Benson (Betty); five sisters, Dian Bell, Christine Smith (Darnell), Sheila Benson, Connie Gibson and Anita Davis; three aunts, Betty Benson, Shirley Holloway (Johnny), Mae Etta Bee; one uncle, George Benson (Auphrene); his mother-in-law, Viola Riley Broussard; two sisters-in-law, Judy Sneed (Eddie) and Valerie St. Charles (Sharell); his grandchildren that he adored, Timothy Cousins, Sandin Miller, Sole’ Foster, Verrice Keasley, Amaya Ranson, Jamar Johnson, Kedra Johnson, Kedrick Bias, Jr., Roynell Bias, Tahir Scott, Ja’Roy Bias, Demonisha Bias and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, friends and his Alexander and Stevens extended family.

Not How Did He Die, But How Did He Live?

Not how did he die, but how did he live? Not what did he gain, but what did he give? These are the units to measure the worth Of a man as a man, regardless of birth. Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed? But had he befriended those really in need. Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer, To bring back a smile, to banish a tear? Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, But how many were sorry when he passed away. I will truly miss you Hank Love Wife Yolanda

The Cross I Wear Around My Neck I wear a cross around my neck A simple reminder to me Of the fact that I am a Christian No matter where I may be This little cross is not magic Nor is it a good luck charm It isn’t meant to protect me From every physical harm It’s not for identification For all the world to see It’s simply an understanding Between my savior and me When I put my hand on my cross No matter what the reason may be The cross is there to remind me Of the price He paid for me It reminds me, too, to be thankful For my blessings day by day And to strive to serve Him better In all I do and say It’s also a daily reminder Of the peace and comfort I share With all who know my Master And give themselves to His care So, I wear a cross around my neck Reminding no one but me That Jesus Christ is Lord of my life If only I’ll let Him be
