BEACH + ANIMALS = FUNDRAISING FUN
By Lilli Shipper
If you love the beach and if you love animals, then you need to come to the 33rd Annual VCA Walk for the Animals on Saturday, March 4th at Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park (80 Las Olas Cir) in Fort Lauderdale! This huge fundraising event is hosted by the Humane Society of Broward County, and the donations received allow the shelter to continue caring for the thousands of homeless animals that come to the facility every year. The shelter offers many programs and services, such as low-cost vaccinations, educational programs, and surrender prevention – all funded in part by animal lovers who participate in the VCA Walk for the Animals. Registration opens at 8 am on Walk Day, but be sure to hang around all morning to enjoy games, activities, vendor booths, and more. The optional 1-mile walk begins at 10 am, goes along Fort Lauderdale Beach, and the event ends at noon. You can register for free at Walk4theAnimals.com, by registering either as an Individual Walker or as a Team by creating a Pack. The VCA Walk for the Animals is the Humane Society of Broward County’s largest fundraiser of the year and is always a blast! Not only am I a member of the Humane Society of Broward County’s Planned Giving Committee, but I have also had the pleasure of attending many Walks, and every time is always a fun and memorable experience. It is great to attend with your dog, your friends, and your family, because who wouldn’t want to support a great cause while hanging out with a bunch of happy dogs walking along the beach?!
