By Mayor Josh Levy
Hi everyone, this month I’m excited to share a list of the many capital improvement projects that are scheduled to break ground in our City this year.

FROM OUR PARKS TEAM:
• New Playgrounds are coming to the ArtsPark, the Lakes of Emerald Hills Park, Kooser Park, Stan Goldman Park, McNicol Community Center, and Driftwood Park.
• Also at Stan Goldman Park, a new Concrete Skate Board Park is coming to the newly named Justice Skate Park, along with 2 new Pickleball Courts, a new 10 foot wide pathway with pedestrian lighting and improvements to the Dog Park.
• Four new Pickleball Courts will be built at Jefferson Park.
• Artificial Turf Fields will be installed at Dowdy Field.
• Improvements to Hollywood Marina’s fueling station will be made, as we continue to seek funding for our newly adopted Marina Master Plan.
• New exercise equipment will be installed at Oakridge Park.
• Pathway renovations will take place at Joe DiMaggio, Zinkil, John Williams, and Mara Giulianti Park.
• New floating docks will be installed at Holland Park and the observation tower will be refurbished.
• New Bottle Filler Fountains will be installed at many of our parks and community centers.
• We’ll also be pursuing indoor pickleball for seniors and more teen programming and partnering with Memorial to provide aquatic exercise classes and games for seniors.
Driving down Sheridan Street, Hollywood Boulevard, Pembroke Road and Stirling Road, you can already see what a beautiful difference the new Florida-friendly landscaping has made, and I thank the team for their ongoing work on this.
From Our Cra Team
On the beach, we’ll be renewing the Broadwalk kneewall’s LED lights with new watertight fixtures. We’ll complete the installation of vehicle access management gates for the Broadwalk. The undergrounding of the overhead utilities along A1A between Sheridan Street and Hollywood Boulevard will be substantially completed.
We’ll be starting a massive 4-year, $50 million project to underground utilities and rebuild and raise 18 of the side-streets that lead from A1A to the Broadwalk and beach between Harrison Street and Magnolia Terrace. This is a significant resiliency project as well as a major beautification project with streetscape improvement like the pavered side streets completed in previous phases on Central Beach.
We’re working to install new near-shore artificial mermaid coral reefs at four locations, two off of North Beach Park, one off of Keating Park and one off of Harry Berry Park.
Keating Park, which is just north of the Diplomat, will begin major renovations, and we’ll be beginning to improve the Broadwalk’s lighting to be even more sea turtle-friendly.
Downtown, our CRA team will be beginning to oversee a transformative streetscape project that will beautify the historic segment of Hollywood Boulevard with new and wider sidewalks, cafe space, trees and lighting on each side of the Boulevard.
