Picture-perfect weather provided an ideal day for families to come out and enjoy a morning of creating works of art in sidewalk chalk along the walkways at Library Park. Jami Nix Rahn, Past President of the Arts Council, notes, “Library Park has always been my favorite space in Weston. I was so happy to see that the Arts Council partnering with the City of Weston, could find the perfect event for this beautiful outdoor space.”
The Arts Council of Greater Weston in partnership with the City of Weston highlighted the importance of art in our community with this creative way to mark the 10th annual Celebrate the Arts event. While not the usual variety of arts activities and showcases, due to COVID, this year’s event allowed participants to create their own artistic interpretation of the theme, “Who’s Your Superhero?”
Weston Event Manager Annalisa Walker remarked, “It was great to see families working together to create works of art using chalk. The smiles on everyone’s faces was worthwhile. At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed their gratitude for this safe, outdoor, community-engaging event.”
Weston Mayor Margaret Brown added, “I and the City Commission deeply appreciate the effort and creativity that went into ‘reinventing’ this year’s Celebrate the Arts Day to ensure the safety of our families while also providing such a creative and fun outlet of expression. This is truly what great artists do, they adapt, and we thank the Arts Council and our staff for a wonderful day.”
Laura Dobrzanski, current ACGW President, wraps it up, “It was a gorgeous day for the community to come out and enjoy some fun outdoors. We are so fortunate to have such a strong relationship with the City of Weston to make this event possible.”
