event also had record-breaking attendance, further supporting our charities. Edwina credited the success of the club to the collaboration of their 170+ members, who work together on various committees towards their objective of serving those in need.
As the Rotary Year draws to a close, we had the opportunity to speak with the current President of the Rotary Club of Weston, Edwina Auguste. Despite her busy schedule, Edwina generously took the time to share her reflections on the past year and her vision for the future of the club.
When asked about the lessons she learned over the past 12 months, Edwina emphasized the importance of teamwork and the sense of family within the club. She explained “ no success is achieved by one person alone and that each President adds their own unique touch to the already successful club. This year, our focus was on the concept of family, which allowed us to continue our exceptional work of serving and volunteering in the community and making a difference in the lives of others.
When asked about her proudest accomplishment of the year, Edwina expressed her pride in the dedication and support of all the members who helped in our fundraising events such as the Golf and Drawdown events. With the support of sponsors, they were able to award a record-breaking amount of over $200,000.00 to graduating seniors for college from Cypress Bay, Western, Sagemont, Children’s Harbour, and HANDY. We also raised awareness and funds for three charities, Children’s Harbor, Honor Flight and Women in Distress, through our annual Food and Wine fundraiser. Our 25th annual Run for Tomorrow and Commissions Cup
As our time with Edwina came to a close, we respectfully inquired if she had any messages for the President-Elect., Cristiano Nicolucci, for the next Rotary year, she expressed confidence in Cristiano’s ability and is excited about his upcoming role as the President of the Rotary year for 2023-24. “ Cristiano is an exceptional leader who, along with his leadership team, will uphold the mission of service above self for our local and global community. We anticipate an invigorating new year at the Rotary Club of Weston.”
Edwina concluded with this “ I want to extend my sincere gratitude to each and every one of my members and leadership team for giving me the opportunity to serve them this past year. I also want to express my appreciation to our community leaders, the beautiful city of Weston, and all of our sponsors for their unwavering support, which makes our work possible. We warmly invite you to join us at our meetings every Thursday morning at 7:30 am and become a part of our growing Rotary family. We are family”
Throughout the past 11 months, we have had the pleasure of getting to know Edwina and observing her unwavering dedication, warmth, and focus in everything she does. Madame President, it has been an honor to serve in the Rotary Club of Weston under your leadership. Thank you for all you have done.
