Moonlight Movies in the Park is Back at Regional Park

After almost two years of COVID-19, movies are returning to the big screen! Family-friendly blockbuster movies will be exhibited on a huge outdoor screen at Weston Regional Park this fall. The City of Weston’s Moonlight Movies in the Park series will feature a number of hit movies.

The popular program premieres October 9th with the Walt Disney feature, “Cruella”. In this adventure/comedy, Academy Award winner Emma Stone stars as Cruella. The live-action film explores the rebellious early days of one of cinema’s most notorious - and notoriously fashionable - villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. "Cruella," which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets.

“Raya and the Last Dragon” will be shown on Saturday, November 6. In this computer-animated Walt Disney film, Raya, a warrior princess, searches for the fabled last dragon, hoping to restore the dragon gem that would banish the evil spirits known as the Druun from the land of Kumandra.

Looney Toons fans old and young will be excited to see a special 25th-anniversary showing of Space Jam. The movie stars basketball legend Michael Jordan as he is joined by Bugs Bunny and the gang in their battle to save toon land. Space Jam will air on Friday, December 10th.

In an effort to present new releases, the City of Weston has not yet selected its spring Moonlight Movies in the Park films. The titles will be announced as those dates get closer.

All movies are projected onto a giant inflatable screen at Weston Regional Park’s Event State, next to the Weston Community Center. Moviegoers should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Coolers are permitted, but alcohol is not allowed in the park. Children must be accompanied by an adult and patrons are encouraged to follow the latest CDC guidelines.
