LGBTQ+ Sacramento
Sacramento is home to a thriving and active LGBTQ+ community that is both integrated into Sacramento civic life and centered in Midtown Sacramento’s Lavender Heights neighborhood, where LGBTQ+ citizens have helped create a bustling arts and gallery scene. LGBTQ+ people helped launch Sacramento’s Second Saturday Art Walk nearly a decade ago, an event that brings tens of thousands of visitors into Midtown Sacramento each month.
The area features six gay clubs, ranging in style from Faces, a video night club with three dance floors and a pool; to Mango’s Burgertown, where business people and professionals can gather for dinner and cocktails on a sprawling outdoor patio surrounded by art galleries and shops; to The Depot, a cozy video bar; to The Bolt leather bar. Crocker Art Museum hosts LGBTQthemed events throughout the year in conjunction with local LGBTQ+ organizations.
Sacramento is home to numerous LGBTQ+ organizations, including Lavender Library, Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus, Sacramento Women’s Chorus, LGBTQ+ attorneys organization Lambda Legal, the Capital Squares square dance group and numerous other LGBTQ+ organizations.

Fortune Feimster made her national TV debut in 2010 on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, where she finished as a semi-finalist. That same year she was selected to perform in the New Faces showcase at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. Now Fortune is a full-time writer and roundtable regular on the E! Network’s popular late night talk show, Chelsea Lately, with Chelsea Handler. She’s also a cast member on the second season of Handler’s scripted series, After Lately. Celebrate the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera’s final production of the 20222023 Season, featuring one of the most frequently performed operas of all time: Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme. This famous love story will be conducted by the dynamic and charismatic Sascha
music, and much more for the annual Sacramento Pride March. Harkening back to the earliest days of Pride events as protests against oppression, this event is both a demonstration of activism in our pursuit of equity and social justice as well as a celebration of diverse Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and two-spirit communities and culture.
