Island Yoga London offers a physical, mental and spiritual practice to still the mind and strengthen the body, providing the ideal antidote to the many stresses of contemporary living. Island Yoga London integrates Hindu and Buddhist teachings of the ancient Indian practice of yoga, accompanied by modern anatomical and physiological understandings of the workings of the body. Classes are designed to be inclusive for all levels, whether you’re a beginner or a more advanced practitioner. The practice focusses on aligning physical movement with steady breathing, bringing awareness to the present moment. Cultivating this conscious connection with our breath as we move helps bring clarity, spaciousness, focus and calm that can also be brought into our lives off the mat. You will be guided through the principles of safe alignment in postures (asana), developing the strong foundations necessary for use throughout your yoga journey. Attention is also given to breathing practices (pranayama) and meditation (dhyana), supporting overall wellbeing and relaxation. Island Yoga London has been serving the community of Brentford (and surrounds) since 2017, with a studio on Johnson’s Island in the Grand Union Canal. Nowadays we understand the need for flexibility, so we continue to teach weekly classes online as well as offering in-person workshops on a monthly basis. Over the years, practicing yoga together has grown a community around Island Yoga London, creating a warm atmosphere of support, encouragement, fun and connection.
