Shining the spotlight on Sam Lavery & Faye Ormston This month we shine the spotlight on Sam Lavery & Faye Ormston who both star as villains in the Rag Dolly & Eve Valentine movie series created by Willington based director Dean Midas. Hello Ladies, could you tell our readers how you both got into acting in the first place? Faye: Hello, for me I first took an interest in acting at around 11 years old, I was quite shy when I was younger and discovered I could express myself fully through the portrayal of different characters, it helped boost my confidence and I loved drama and theatre growing up. I got into film acting after I left school and had been travelling - I came home and thought acting is the one thing I truly always loved and thought about, I really missed it and thought any line of work I tried I was never as fulfilled as I was when I was performing. For years I did lots of independent movies with local filmmakers for experience and the enjoyment of it, there’s something special about a small production, I just love getting stuck in as you are the cast crew, make up department and everything it’s great fun. Sam: I was acting from a young age in performing acts academy, and throughout my entire life have been involved in shows and music. I landed my first major role in American Idiot UK and NZ tour in 2018 playing the leading lady. How did you manage to land the respective roles of Eve Valentine & The Rag Dolly and what makes their characters unique?
her story, she is full of emotion - anger and bitterness from what she’s been through but deep down I think she does have a heart, she just wants what’s hers! She won’t stop till she gets it. Visually the head tilt and strong march has become her trademark. Sam: I have worked with Dean in the past when I was on the X Factor and felt like I could bring a unique twist to my role as Eve Valentine. What has been your favourite part of the series to date what you have acted in? (I myself met my end by the Rag Dolly last year with a spade through the stomach). Faye: Ha ha! Just another day in the life of Rag Dolly you must have gotten in her way that’s all I can say! My favourite were all of the fight scenes, the one with the 3 guys it was such a laugh, the tent ones and the fight with Eve Valentine. So much fun. Sam: I have enjoyed each scene as they all have suspense and the shock factor. It’s such a great film to be apart of. Would you both like to further your acting and take on more varied roles? Faye: Oh yes, that’s what I love about
Faye: I’ve worked with Dean before on Legend of the chained oak, we spent a week in Staffordshire filming it near Alton Towers, it was brilliant. Dean asked me and I happily accepted, I loved the sound of the character and story, we had a few setbacks and things had to change because of lockdown, but we still managed to get so much done. In terms of the character building and making her unique, I thought about 14

acting, I love to express myself through the portrayal of a vast number of varied characters, I like to get my teeth into them and find out how they tick, I’ve played so many different roles now and I’m always open to more! Sam: Acting, singing and performance is my whole life and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Lastly tell our readers why they need to watch the latest movie in the series “Dolly V Eve: Homecoming” Faye: Now that would be telling!! You just have to watch, it’s all going to come to a head and that’s all I’m saying he he! Sam: It’s a great story-line with so many twists! It’s definitely one to watch as it’ll get you hooked!
