As we are designing your new structure, we like to take into consideration how you might want to best utilize the space by adding additional items such as outdoor heating, cooling, lights, speakers or TV’s. This part of the planning process is important to discuss in advance to ensure you can either install it now or later. We can also integrate a new product called Skylift Hardware. The benefit to this is it allows the structure to take up less space with minimal, if any, posts and you will receive the maximum amount of shade. Pacific Shade Sails designs & fabricates all of their own structures. They are made with 1/8” to 1/4” steel beams. While most of our structures are made with beams of 5” x 5” or 6” x 6” diameter, we can do as small as 4” x 4” and larger. There is no area too big, or too small for us to create a structure for. We take each individual space and create a design to map out each structure. After that ,each structure is fabricated & welded at the Pacific Shade Sails location in Rancho Cordova, California. Once fabricated, we then take it to get each individual piece powder coated with powder coating. All structures can be bolted down to concrete slabs or footings, or they can be suspended in the air with Skylift Roof Jacks. Each structure can have any of the Pacific Shade Sails products incorporated into the design, such as, Glide Shades, Weave Shade, or Shade Panels. Our structures and Shade Products are all made to be easily maintained.

Testimonial from recent customer and publisher of OGMag... As we were planning our kitchen remodel, we wanted something unusual and unique for our backsplash. We looked at all options and as we searched we found solid glass for a backsplash as an option. We immediately fell in love with the look and knew is the right choice for us. The next obstacle was to find a glass company that could make it for us. Our search ended when we found Keith at Sacramento Glass Works. He was awesome to work with and it was a lot of fun. As you can see from the photos, it turned out amazing and we couldn’t be happier. I would recommend this same application for outdoor kitchens as well. Get creative with glass and you won’t be sorry. I wanted to feature this option in Outdoor Galore because we felt that it was a great way to go and most people that I talked to had never heard of solid glass backsplashes. They can be used anywhere you are looking to create something that is modern. They add amazing color and are easy to keep clean! Thanks again Sacramento Glass Works! Fall days and cooler nights call for cozy intimate outdoor spaces. Pull your outdoor furniture in to create a cozier space. If you have a coffee table you use in the summer, replace it with a fire pit or propane fire table to keep your space warm and comfy.
Bring out the throws. Use throw blankets to keep you and your guests warm. Choose different textures to add some dimension to your living space. Draping a throw over the back of a chair or sofa is also a great way to add some fall color to your space.
tips for
OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING When decorating for the seasons, don’t forget your outdoor living space. Switching up your pillows can quickly change the look of your outdoor living area. Adding fall colors and seasonal, worded, throw pillows create an inviting setting. Light up the night! Nothing is more inviting then stepping outside into a beautifully illuminated space. When it comes to lighting up your outdoor space, remember to layer lighting with a variety of light sources. String lights, outdoor lamps, candles and lanterns can all work together to create function and ambience. Functional furniture. Bring in pieces that can double as storage. Weather-proof benches, tables and bins can be used for extra seating or serving when needed, while discretely stowing your furniture covers. When the weather takes a turn, pull out the covers and store your pillows lanterns and other items you want to stay dry.

BEFORE
These homeowners dreamed of an
outdoor space for entertaining and enjoyment. Having a space that was easy to maintain, required low water and functional without compromising the design was a high priority . With limited space to work with and a long list of outdoor elements to include, landscape designer Kate Bowers took on the challenge to create a backyard design that accomplished the task. Much of the space was unusable . The lawn had taken a beating during the drought and had to go.
There are many hidden features including under the counter lights, kegerator and trash compactor with removable cutting board for easy clean up.
Custom outdoor cabinetry was made to accommodate storage of frequently used items.
No detail was overlooked. A great amount of time went into the well-thought out design for how this space would function.
The BBQ area features storage, a side burner and high-end BBQ. Opposite the BBQ is a fridge and kegerator perfect for serving cold beverages at the bar.

It was important to the homeowners to keep the pool as the main focal point of the backyard. Every sitting area in the space has a view of the pool.
In the evening, the space is illuminated with string lights, lanterns and other well-placed light fixtures.
Multiple seating areas provide plenty of room for accommodating guests.

From produce to great wine, Apple Hill has something to offer everyone
Written by Becky Horan
It just isn’t fall without a trip to Apple Hill. I joined local, Sacramento food blogger and owner of The Rustic Fork, Sonya Keister for a quick day trip up the hill. We were in search of some local apples and a wine pairing for her Pork Chop with apple, onion and bacon recipe. Our first stop was Boa Vista Orchards. The market was buzzing with customers and site seers and there is plenty to see. From the farmers market-style selection of produce, fresh baked apple donuts to the pumpkin patch across the road, there is something for everyone. With apples and fresh apple cider in hand, we made our way down Carson Road to the Chateau Deville Winery. Chateau Deville isn’t your ordinary winery. With its unique rustic, artistic vibe and Bob Marley softly playing in the background, it’s easy to loose track of time and spend a few hours here sipping great local wines and admiring the view.

Emily Hays co-owns and runs the Chateau Deville Winery with her husband Eric. She graciously guided us through the tasting paired with local goodies which are all made right here in the Apple Hill area.
Each bottle has a story of its own. Eric is an oil painter and paints the labels of each wine which are named after members of their family.
The 2013 Marguerite (rich, full-bodied blend with aromas of clove and vanilla bean. Flavors of caramelized fig finish with macadamia nut and truffle) pair nicely with Sonya’s pork chop recipe.
